For this tutorial you need image ready which comes Photoshop

We are going to make an avatar like this one:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51/f ... obe_av.gif

Firstly you need to find a movie trailer that you want to use. It needs to end in the extension .mov Most fansites will have them.

For example if you look here: http://www.arwen-undomiel.com/video.html you'll find lots of LotR trailers and clips in that format. Right click the trailer link and click on save target as and save it somewhere.

Open the trailer up in Image ready and a box should pop up like this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51/f ... s/box1.jpg

Select "selected range only" and also "Limit to every" and this one should be set at 2 unless it is a very short clip in which case you might not want to select it.

Now play throught the movie clip until you get to the start of bit you want. Now hold down shift and either use the slider or the arrow keys to go through this bit. Part of the bar at the bottom of the box should go darker grey to represent the bit you have selected.

Once you have got the bit you want press OK. One image from your animation will be on the screen - the others are all in different layers.

Now select the crop tool and in the bar at the top where it says W and H put in "100" or "100 px" or what ever size you want it to be in each box.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51/f ... s/box2.jpg

Draw a square with the crop tool on your image and crop it.

Go to file, save optimised and save it.

I hope that was helpful, let me know if there are any problems

Is there any way of fixing this? I'm also getting the same thing on Photoshop...:(

edit: Nevermind, it's working now! :p

I have Image Ready CS2 and it won't work! :( Under the supported file types, .mov isn't listed, and all the other file types are weird :'( Is there something I can do to change this??

I'm sorry but I've never used Image Ready CS2 so I'm not sure what the problem is. It might just be that it doesn't allow .mov files :(

Try looking for an options or preferences thing where it might allow you to change what files are supported. Or else experiement with other file formats.

Thanks Elanor :) I figured out by Googling that you have to downgrade to QuickTime 6 or less for it to work! Since I had 7 it wouldn't. Stupid, I know, but at least it works now! :D

EDIT -- Now I'm confused; I opened the clip up in image ready but it won't play -- it just is like one frame or something.... it only plays if I don't select 'selected range only

I think you might be selecting just one frame of it. You need to press and hold the shift key.

They're cool Eliwen :-D
