hey arwen,
first of all if you want to start out with just banners there is a great and easy tutorial that will walk you through it step by step here at this link.

this tutorial is by arwe the webmaster. It is on a-u.com. I thought it would be easier to give you the tutorial address then me explain it. That is just easier. Hope it helps you out. It helped me when I first started making banners. Then I got microsoft picture it 10 premium. Great program. I do not know how many others use that program here on a-u. Well if you need any more help do not hesitate to ask.

The tutorial on A-U is for paint shop pro though,
so you might run into road blocks if you try to use it for
photoshop, since the programs are a bit different.

I used to use PS7, so if you need any further help
