My apologies about the double postness, I'm in new episode squee mode! Even if I don't really know if I liked that episode or not. The witches were too cliched and there was much to much sexual tension between the Doctor and Martha. But otherwise I liked it

^ i completely agree about the witches being too stereotypical - they'd clearly put absolutely no imagination into creating them. the doctor/martha relationship didn't really bother me cuz it was cleary one-sided - he's not betraying rose...yet.
i have to say, i did like all the jokes revolving around lines from shakespeare's plays - like shakespeare wondering if "to be or not to be" sounded too pretentious.
i also liked the theme of the power of words - i know they stretched it a little (okay a lot) in that episode, but as an english student/wannabe writer/avid reader, i really believe words can have an immense effect.

I liked this weeks episode. Not as good as the opener, but it was a bit of harmless fun I suppose. That and the actor that played Shakespeare was really hot lol
The witches thing didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I've kind of gotten used to the bad portrayal of witches on tv now, so it sort of rolls of me.
I'm still lovin' Martha. More and more and more infact. The girl is several shades of awesome.

Dude, he's BEAUTIFUL in heels and a little black dress!! XD XD And this kind of conversation is why I am scared of coming in here. I rest my case. Oh hush, you KNOW we're right. And there's nothing wrong with a little bit of harmless Tennant love. He is in fact our current Doctor...so SPREAD the love. And Kess, I agree...the lipstick = XD Kess wrote: My apologies about the double postness, I'm in new episode squee mode! Even if I don't really know if I liked that episode or not. So, many thanks to YouTube...XD:PXD...I just watched this most recent episode.
I thought it was a really fun episode. Like Phoenix said, not quite as spectacular...but I was laughing SO hard during it.
I'll agree with you guys on not liking all the Martha/Ten sexual tension. A bit much. I mean, it didn't really bother me (until he "betrays" her, as ehelfleda said, I don't think it will THAT much...XD)...but just a bit much.
HOWEVER, I just LOVED all the words between Shakespeare and the Doctor. SO funny! Phoenix you're absolutely right...Shakespeare was hot. XD
And the power of words thing was just too cool man. Although, I was more for the power of the theatre...but I suppose they go hand in hand...but I'm no actor...just a techie.... XD
And Martha still rocks.
OH! All the Harry Potter references...I nearly died. XD The "Expelliarmus!" line had me on the floor. XD Oh, I love it.

i wasn't so keen on the harry potter references. i mean, i thought the references were well handled and fairly amusing; but i absoutely hate harry potter, so any mention of it generally leads to a little teeth grinding.
i did love this bit though:
doctor: you can have a good flirt later shakespeare: is that a promise, doctor? doctor: and 57 academics just punched the air
i thought it was brilliant, even if i did have to explain to the rest of my family

Join the club, my younger brothers are morons. I usually watch it upstairs where theres no distrasctions and you can always hear my brothers laugh 30 seconds after I do when they finnaly work out the joke. It's quite painful to watch. I loved that quote too, but it caused all the people on the Torchwood LJ to discuss for hours how Jack and Shakespeare should date Abd I liked the Harry Potter references. That was officially the best sonnet shakespeare has ever written, why can't we study that one?

Heheh...for about an hour after that I was just staring into space with a glazed expression occasionally grinning 'creepily'. I've set myself a target to say the phrase 'hot Shakespeare, as portrayed in Doctor Who' at least twenty times every English lesson when I eventually get back to school
I refuse to watch anything in the same room as my family, mainly my sister, as she TALKS WHEN DAVID TENNANT IS ON THE SCREEN...I just claim the 42-inch telly in the front room and push the sofa in front of the door ^^

Apparently John Barrowman asks Anne for a threesome...

Whumping? I'm probably being really stupid right now but I don't think I acn remember ever hearing that word before... (You can't blame me, I'm stuck at an easter party with tonnes of toddlers attacking em with half eaten lollypops, slowly going braindead... I don't even believe in God, so why do I have to endure this every year???) But what I picked out from that trailer is a short clip of the Doctor getting married to (and kissing) some random red head! Only I'm his wife! Me! I have the wedding thread and everything...*strops*

Married him? What? can we share? Or he could be my mistress, only it would be mister since he's male...
And whumping...its a term I picked from the fans of Stargate (another awesome show) If a character is "whumped" then he or she is either mentally or physically tortured. This is aso almost synonomous with the term "h" of "h/c" (hurt/comfort) where the character is, again, hurt or tortured mentally or physically, beinging left in a decrepid state of either mind or body. Another character comes in and "heals" them by giving them the comfort they need. These tow terms are synonomous because for the "hut" to be considered "whump" the viewer has to have a reaction somwhat similar to "Ohdearlord! That poor man! Come here and let me hug away your pain"
In other, shorter words, it basically means to enjoy not the pain of a trotured character, but to squee at the thought that he's going to need some fixing up and you're the one that could do it. Uagh, its hard to explain
The whump is the abuse, but when the term "whump" is used there is more implied, such as is stated above.
I tried not to make it sound too risque. Although, a few pages back we were talking about how much fun Doctor bondage was (or was that just me?)

No mistresses, or sharing, 10 is mine, see! --> http://arwen-undomiel.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10548 *hides doctor in closet from Wingfoot and Nauriel* However, the trailer seems to think otherwise. Who is this evil husband stealer? Ta for the Whumping explanation, thats a very interesting word...
