Hahah funny, our base is in the same place as the sea cadets in our area, but we go on different days so we never see each other. When we were doing drill once, our CV was telling us that we should be better, unlike those air cadets and their drills with the flailing arms
And our speed depends really... during parades, we obviously go slowly (as do the sea and air cadets), but marching normally... I'd say we're pretty fast. Not REALLY fast though I really hate marching slowly....

Funny you should say that, it sounds like the army cadets are way better in terms of drill standard than the air cadets there... Here the army and sea cadets' drill is terrible, and that's not even being biased... They can't even march in time We blame their officers though...

Yeah, it's definitely the officers... the COPS (Cadet Organization Police School) were marching with us for the Remembrance Day parade, and they had about 150 cadets on parade. When they were warming up, their RSM was calling drill, and they were TERRIBLE... when their feet went down they sounded like machine guns. Not to mention most of them half a$$ed it and couldn't seem to be able to lift their knees up. And yes, they were army cadets. I think it's also harder to train a larger corps, because my corps has about 50 cadets (yeah, we're a really small family) and we're excellent... people always 'borrow' us for parades and events and stuff. So yeah the performance really depends on the officers and the corps.
I haven't actually seen the sea or air cadets march because they march behind us all the time, but apparently their drill is really funny

The army and sea cadets marched behind us on the Remembrance Parade But we saw some of their drill... It was absolutely terrible! Yeah, I think it would be harder to train a larger corps, our squadron is about 30 people when everyone's there... Our drill's pretty good though, if I say so myself, apart from a couple of people.

Well I just joined a few months ago actually, so I got promoted pretty quickly... I'm a Gunner (=Pvt) now. I can't wait to get to at least Master Bombardier (=MCpl)...

That's a quick promotion! Not sure if it's just like that where you live, but some people at our Sqn. have been there for over a year and not got a promotion yet...

Wow, really? Well apparently only 22 people got promoted this round (I wasn't there too see it), and there are about 50 or 60 regulars. But most of the people that get promoted are over 16 years of age, just because we're a bit more responsible and mature. They don't like to promote a lot of the younger people.

22 promotions! The biggest promotion we've had as far as anyone can remember is of 5 people...

Haha are you serious? We had a lot of spots needed to be filled in though... like, there was no DSM, so they had to bump someone up for that spot... and then after some Sgt had to be bumped to CSM I'd think... list goes on. We only had 2 Sgts and 4 Mbdrs. It probably works differently in Canada than in America, I haven't a clue

And differently again in England where I am And the whole ranking system's different too... But 22 people getting promoted would be like our entire Sqn getting a higher rank and no one being left just Cadet How does your ranking system go?

Ah bum... I thought you were American, sorry!
But that's probably why... your sqn is waay smaller than ours I think. There are still plenty of Cadets left without rank though, so yeah
Our ranks go:
1- Cadet (Recruit)
2- Gunner (Private)
3- Bombardier (Corporal)
4- Master Bombardier (Master Corporal)
5- Sergeant
6- Warrant Officer
7- Master Warrant Officer
8- Chief Warrant Officer
How does yours go?

It's okay Our rank system goes:
~Probationer (before you get enrolled, generally no uniform)
~Cadet (once you're enrolled)
~Corporal (you get this generally after about a year or more of being a cadet, and only if you deserve it)
~Sergeant (again about a year after you get Corporal)
~Flight Sergeant (and the same again)
~Cadet Warrant Officer (you can only get this once you're 18 and if you really deserve it)

Ohh no wonder... ours go a bit differently and we have about three ranks more than you guys
And our system chooses to ignore how long you've been a cadet for, and they look at how your performance as a cadet has been instead. Like my RSM (CWO) told me that at the end of his first year in cadets, he already got promoted to a MBdr. Just because he was responsible enough for it, and he was only 14
