:( This was not requested through the Club Directory. All new clubs must have granted permission to start... This club will resume when it's been granted permission.

Hey! Seeing as this club is back in business now I can ask for permission to join. :-) Ok...I've been dancing for about 5 years for Inishfree and I've been in Preliminary Championships for a little over a year. Last feis I got 10th out of 32 which is the best I've done so far and one judge gave me 4th overall and 1st in my hardshoe! :jump: :jawdrop: Anyway I love irish dance like more than anything else I do. Sometimes I take 4 classes a week but we have off for two weeks now at the end of the summer. I'm glad there's so many other people on AU who dance!

That's great Varda! Keep practicing and you'll be in Novice before you know it!

As for my favorite dance show...I'd have to say Lord of the Dance. Riverdance is the only one I've actually seen in person but I have LOTD and Feet of Flames on tape. The other two I haven't seen.

Yeah, a lot of people on A-U Irish dance. It's weird.

5 years and in Prelim is really good! I know someone who was dancing for 3 years and was still in Adv Beg. Good for you! And, yes, you can join!

Wow! 10th out of 32! That's great!

I take private lessons with my sister. They are 1 hour sessions, once every two weeks. We're on break for the summer, too. We start again on Sept. 13th.

Yeah! Another LotD fan! :-D

***OK, I have a request. Can someone in this club make a banner for us? I wouldn't use pics of famous people, maybe just dance shoes or something. I also think it would be really cool if the background of the banner could be an Irish flag, and there could be a border of clovers. And it needs to say, "The Irish Dance Club.". That's all I'm asking, the rest is up to you. First come, first serve basis!

I could try to make the banner but I can't start until tomorrow morning. I'm not that good but I'll try my best. I have a question though...Do you want one irish flag in the background or like several because it would be an oddly porportioned flag if there was one that was stretched.

Thanks for letting me join. :-)

Well, just one flag would be okay. You don't even have to get pics of a flag if you think it'll look bad. You could just match the background to the flag colours. And you don't need to thank me! :-D I'm more than happy to accept members!

Ok I finished the banner! I made one for members and one for you as founder, Varda. I hope this is something like what you wanted. If not I can make another one. :-)

Hi! I live in a very rural area so there is nowhere that I know of that teaches Irish Dance, which makes me sad :confuzzled: but I LOVE the music and watching the dance. I like Lord of the Dance myself. It is so amazing! So can I still join?

Sure, you're in! Don't give up on dancing, though! I also live in a rural area. My sister Gillian and I have to drive 1 hour and 15 minutes to classes. It used to be 1 hour and 45 minutes, though. :confused2: It was a nightmare with our 4 younger siblings in the car every time. And with gas prices up so high, it was really hard. But this year we're at a closer location. Lord of the Dance is actually what inspired us to dance. It took us about a year to find certified instruction, though, so we would just dance barefoot every night in our frontyard. We didn't know the steps, we just did it for fun. And it was.
And Legolas600,.....EXCELLENT banners! You did an absolutely wonderful job! :-D Thanks a bunch!

You can usually find them at the shows or Amazon.com. Amazon has them really cheap.
