Ooh I've crossed the threshold so many times, it's rather amusing. As Keydoie imagined me, you can easily find me standing in the kitchen wearing an apron humming the Doctor Who theme song while stirring a pot with one hand and reading Harry Potter or Twilight in another. Or humming softly to Celtic Woman while I'm mopping the house. And actually I scarcely mind if my future wife (or paramour or muse or whatever, you know what I mean, yeah) wants me to mind the household and children (if we have any) while she wants to make the money. It means I have more time to work on my art. But the point is, I scarcely think that women and men alike should be chained to the stereotypes that the mob called society created.

I don't understand it. Nowadays these stereotypes hardly exist except in the remote or traditional cultures of the world. How'd they even get started to begin with? I'm sure this is quite the argued subject of many people as it didn't begin with just one thing.

^ I wouldn't know, but some of it was probably from the roles that are said in the Bible, where men and women are given different tasks and such.

I know, like men always exspect us girls to be in the kitchen bvaking, or outside doing laundry, it's so annoying.

I dont mind baking and cooking, its just i am not a very good housemaid! i dont like how some guys expect us to do that. there is a 'popular' saying that circulated through my school, 'make me a sandwich, woman!' i hated it. it was a joke, but still...

Ugh. What an awful joke. Doesn't make me laugh at all. :( I have to say, women, no matter how accepted they are in a mainly male-dominated society, are still the subject of deragatory [sp!] sayings and jokes like that...

@ Nightengale: That's an interesting idea, and I definitely agree. It works that way in most religious texts.

I don't like cooking, I don't like baking, I don't like cleaning and I absolutely loathe house chores. But I do all of this everyday, just cause I can't die of hunger xD

If I ever get married I'll probably continue with doing housework and chores and the like but not all alone. My dear future husband (if thou existeth ..) you will have to work ^^

It's probably one of the worst jokes I've ever come across :( And too true.

Oh that's very very nasty and cruel. Fortunately I haven't heard that from anyone...yet.

I don't mind doing chores... except for ironing. I LOATHE ironing.
But I'll do any chore when we're doing it as a family, because then it's so much more fun.

Well as for me, since I'm planning to live alone, I really don't have much of a choice. I strongly dislike doing anything as a family. We all bicker and argue what to do and we end up not doing anything at all. There hasn't ever been a "family moment" for us. That might explain why I want to live alone.

Oh dear, I'm sorry you haven't had that experience, Caunion. I guess I'm the polar opposite when it comes to family moments. We're all rather close, and whilst we do bicker and row with eachother a lot, we still have those moments where everyone is just content and happy to be together.

Our family is pretty close. Not like most of the people in our neighborhood, but it could still be better. We don't bicker much, but since my dad is a pilot, it's a bit tricky to have family time, his schedule, do school, and have extra curricular activities.

i think if guys want us to be in the kitchen all da time, they should give us money. In my house im the one with the job, and the guys stay at home (only coz they're homeschooled, they don't do any house work and never cook) .Kinda annoying, ven if my job is just part time ( as i go to college during the week)
