we have an R18 rating in britain too, so 18 isn't actually the highest.

Mmm.. true though R18 films are only dodgy ones aren't they? That you can't see in a cinema or buy from a normal DVD shop.
Taking a quick look at imdb I think the film certificutes might work out like this:
PG13 = 12A
R = 15s plus some of the milder 18s
NC 17 = The rest of the 18s plus some (?) of the R18s

I've seen one NC-17 movie and it was not perverted at all. It was called Bent. It was actually very good and quite depressing .

No, I agree with Banana, not all 18's are perverted, it's usually I believe adult content, violence swearing etc. The only 18's I've ever seen have been Die Hard (heavily edited I might add) and The Omen....why this was an 18 I have no idea....tame as a little kitty cat...I saw them both when I was about 16/17 but as any "nastiness" was edited out of Die Hard, I don't think anyone can hold that against me. A lot or 18 rated films, I'm not really bothered about anyway.
Diehard and The Omen were not NC-17 so I guess 18's are more like Rater R films.

Hmm...well maybe it changes from country to country as I believe they were once 18's....maybe the rating has been lowered...I'm not sure.

Well, in Germany films are rated as follows: - without restrictions - 6 years onwards - 12 years onwards - 16 years onwards - 18 years onwards I think films are definitely rated different in different countries. And when 18 films on are shown on TV, they're generally edited that much that they could be a 12/16 film or so. eowyn of ithilien wrote: the first 18 film i saw was the general's daughter, which i watched with my dad when i was about 13 (it was on tv so neither of us knew it was an 18). the first 18 i knowingly watched was gangs of new york, which i watched the other night. they're the ony 18s i've ever seen.
I've also watched "The General's Daughter" on TV some years ago, but I didn't knew that it was an 18 film as well. I always thought it would be rated 16, but maybe it even is here.

And I also have 2 cows so I can sell their calves and get moneyt hat way.... And I have published a book so I will get the royalty money but that's not very much. lol
Not in college. Not even sure if I want to go to college yet. But I am taking corrospondance corses for writting that are college level adn IO can get something like 7 college credits for the 2 year class. *shrugs* so I guess that's a good thing lol. Besides that my life is pretty boring just here on our farm doing pretty much nothing most of the day. lol wEll I guess that's good. *waves*

100 people. So you must literally know everybody! I used to live in a town of 8,000 and I thought that was tiny! Now I'm in a town of about 40-50,000 which is nicer, I mean, we have a mall with a Dillards and Sears, we have Target and Wal-Mart and 3 grocery stores (huh, my old town had 4. Figure it out), several fast food and sit-down places, 2 different cinemas, a Home Depot, and now just coming in, finally, a Lowes. Besides several churches, schoolas, a couple health food stores, and not to mention tourist stops within decent driving distance. Not a bad place to live in.
Jax, sounds like you're a do-it-yourself person, who likes a lot of physical work to earn your bread and meat.
As for me, I prefer "sprinking little minds with knowledge" as if I remember correctly Professor Umbridge says in the Order of the Phoenix ...or is it someone in Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry
Brings up another topic. Now that you're "gown up" you've probably "grown back into" some children's books (you know, as CS Lewis states to his goddaughter in the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Mine include complete Hans Christian Andersen, complete Grimms, complete 1001 Nights, Little House series, some GA Henty books, Hobbit, Mara Daughter of the Nile, besides the books I mentioned before and many others.

it is interesting how we can "grow back into" stuff. i never grew out of the chronicles of narnia or the hobbit - i've been reading and rereading them at regular intervals since i was about 7 - but i did "grow back into" the hans christian anderson and brothers grimm stories a couple of years ago, and sometime soon i want to go into our loft and dig out some of the books i had when i was really little so i can have a good old reminisce.
i love reminiscing about all the kids tv programmes i used to watch too - playdays, the raggy dolls, the poddington peas, brum, green claws, allsorts, pingu, the family ness, rainbow, mr benn, postman pat, fireman sam...they were the days! children's tv is rubbish now.

Have you ever seen Retro Junk's TV show stuff from the 70s, 80s, and 90s? It takes me down memory lane (well, not the 70s stuff, but the 80s and early 90s stuff).

Well I have always liked the old fairy tales - The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Little Red Hen, The Three Billy Goats etc. There is a range of childrens books called Ladybird and they literally did hundreds of short stories which I still love and I still have. Another set of books I love are Mr. Men, if someone handed me them right now I could read them no problem.
Kids TV used to be good - fun and educational. Now it's all hip presenters and crappy cartoons. I used to love Tom and Jerry, Playdays, Poddington Peas, Brum, Pingu, Mr. Men, Sesame Street..aww...Rainbow...up above the streets and houses Rainbow climbing high, everyone can see it shining over the sky...paint the whole world with a Rainbow.......and even not-so-classic shows such as Get Your Own Back, Bodger and Badger...ah...the good old days....

Oh, yes. I still love children's books and movies as well.
My favourite children's books are: Hobbit, the complete Chronicles of Narnia and some fairy tales by the Brother's Grimm.
I really love most of the Disney cartoons. Before the Christmas holidays we watched "Robin Hood" in our history class just for fun and believe it or not, twenty guys between 18 and 19 were totally fascinated by the movie. When I was a child I also loved to watch Winnie the Pooh, Chip& Chap, the Ducktales and Tom and Jerry.
And I still love stuffed animals today. So, altough I've grown up, I still like looking back on old childhood memories very much.
