You all have really good story ideas! I'mcurrently writing a story too. The title is Miriel (though I may have to change it if I ever want to get it published)
Its about a 16 year old girl named Miriel. I havn't decided what happened to her mother, but I have decided her father died of a sickness. He taught her to survive in the wilderness, for he had no sons of his own.
At the start of the story, she manages to escape from bandits, and gets to the nearest town. She warns them that there are bandits coming, but the town does not worry musch, for there are few of them. However, another person (named Amaran) rides in frantically and announces that there is an army coming that obliterated his town. So this town prepares itself, but practically everyone dies. Miriel and Amaran manage to survive, though they are injured, and manage to recover at an out post on the edge of the village. I havn't really planned much after that, but I'm thinking somthing along the lines of a corrupt government.

Thanks! 
I know I'm awfully new to be suggesting things, but I thought it might be fun to have a weekly writing prompt or something. We could take turns thinking of one, or send them to someone to post or something, but I think it would help everyone practice, have a little fun, and get to know each other's writing styles.

Well, there's loads of different things you can do; say "invent a character who is late for an appointment and is happy about it" or "finish the line 'We/they were friends once, but then...' and continue" or "write a story that starts with the words 'Where have you been?' "
Even more than that, there's stuff like
"write in a room with a view of the yard"
or just a one word prompt; "shadow", "deadline", or "summer".
All the years I've had creative writing classes, the teachers have done stuff like that. You just take the prompt and write something; a short story, a conversation, a description. That's fun! I've also done it where you have to include objects, like a roll of toilet paper. We should do it!

I like the idea! I think that, since you suggested it, you should have the honour of starting. Every person to answer to the prompt should then do the next one!

Do you guys mind if I join? Currently I'm writing a story about a teenager (almost 18) who killed the murderer of his family. As he tries to escape from the law, he hides in a tree for the night. When day comes, he finds out that he is in a totally new world. The inhabitants of the world, Iskitis, are divided into the three groups: the Elves, the Dwarves, and the Humans. Religion plays an important role in this as the Elves have no religion, the Dwarves believe in a pantheon, and the Humans are monothestic. Later on as I get more ideas about this, I'll post it.
