I'm so gonna have to have a M.Night marathon. I've not watched any of his films in ages.

@ Kit - That's a very good point actually. Although theoretically romance does play quite a big part of his films.
In the Sixth Sense Bruce Willis is having problems with his marriage as he is in Unbreakable. In the Sixth Sense this is quite an important part of the story. In Signs in it the previous death of his wife that is causing family problems and made Mel Gibson lose his faith. In Lady in the Water it is because of *spoilers* what happened to Cleveland's wife and kids that he is the caretaker at the apartments
Of course that is really going in and trying to find something to do with romance in the stories. I don't really like analyzing films so such a depth, but I'm guessing that is what some people would say in connection with romance.
Like people saying M. Night's film have connections with water. In Unbreakable, Bruce Willis is afraid of water. In Signs, the young girl has a thing with water.... hmm... I'll buy that.. then we have.. in the Village Ivy was left on her own in the rain. o.0 And in the Sixth Sense *spoilers* something bad happened in a bathroom. 0.o
I agree with you though. The Village is driven by the love between Lucius and Ivy. There would be no story without them.
@ Elenya - Hear! Hear! There are two many films out there, that just have a girl so the hero can win her over. Once again, M. Night does not make the usual film, where no matter what terrible things happen, the guy always gets the girl.
@ Phoenix - *poke* Yes, you really must do. If only to see Mel Gibson trying to look angry and curse. XD

Yeah, Elenya pointed out what I meant.... and you're JF, there are small elements of romance in his films however, it's not one of the central key elements of his films ---as she's not there to be an awesome sidekick and for the hero to snog. In his other films, like Signs and Lady in the Water, that the past romance helps Shyamalan show us the character development more than anything.

No, exactly. That's what makes the Village unusual because of the romance that is the key to the film. I can't see him being uncomfortable with romance, as he pulled it off so well. Maybe it's just because he won't have a romance in one of his films, unless it is vital to the plotline.

I really really really really hope that he does more key-romance type elements in his future films, the way he does it is just so great. Which is why I don't fangirl Lucius Hunt to the point of marrying him on A-U because I ship too much Lucius/Ivy. You don't cheer for your competition!

How could you ever leave Norrie despite the inkling temptation that which is Lucius Hunt?
Besides, Norrie has a <s>boat</s> ship.
However; would you divorce Norrie and elope with Uncle Merrill?

I'll be visiting the library soon and I hope to see if my local library branch has Signs handy, if not Unbreakable.
And I dearly hope The Village isn't overdue since my library receipt didn't mark The Village off----but the library man clearly scanned it in.... xD Whatever---the overdue is worth paying for.

How is that you have all of these films and you've only just recently re-discovered how much you love them? XD

You're so lucky to have access to all of them!!!
You can never go wrong with a Shyamalan movie. I was actually surprised when the movie The Others wasn't Shyamalan because it felt VERY Shyamalan... except less complicated. xD

I know. Because I can't imagine feeling in the mood to watch his films and not having them all... although I did feel like that before I knew we had Lady in the Water. XD
Yeah, I can see what you mean, although I saw the Others before any of his films, but it is definitely M. Night-esque.

Or maybe he WAS secretly the writer and he was doing an experiment to see if people liked his film better if his name wasn't attached to it----which means he was successful!
