can i join? i ♥ writing!! i've finished a book of a series of 4 and im working on a screenplay (if that counts as writing)
if kinda ironic how i just saw this thread as you guys were discussing not liking to share story ideas with parents & friends. i know how you feel. last time i told my parents about a book idea they picked at it and it was just an idea-i didnt even have it completely planned out to write yet...i never got to writing it b/c i got really upset and i burnt the paper. i wasnt going to tell them about my screenplay idea, but it slipped and they got mad at me for being so interested in Hitler. only one of my friends support my ideas b/c she is a writer herself. we both kindly point out tiny flaws in our writing. its great that i have her, but all my other friends read my ideas and start picking at it.
so i know how you guys feel

Omg! I do the exact same thing. I write alot of poetry. More then stories. I don't have enough time for stories. But I love to write descriptive narratives. So much fun!

I've never been able to write decent poetry. I can only write stories. I've found that I can't think up ideas unless I have a candle burning... So I always have a candle burning in my room. I lit a candle one day in my room and I was like: Woah! I could write about that! and the storie I started writing that day has about... 12 chapters I think. So I always burn a candle when I write.

Thanks. I think my first LOTR poem "Of Arwen" is what really got me into the whole poetry thing. It's my second longest poem. The longest one I've written is two pages on MS Word. It's called "Trapped Within the Truth".

i do poetry too--mostly love sonnets...i like sonnets theyr very simple, but enough lines to get your point across. i think my website link V {down there} is to my site where i posted the love sonnets i've made in the last month or so. i think im gunna go update the site i havent in a while...

That's cool! I do mostly poems about nature or characters from LOTR and other fantasy. I do events as well, like I sumed up Arwen's life since she first met Aragorn all in "of Arwen".

And yeah, I think screenplays are a form of writing.

Yeah, they do count. I mostly write stories and novels. Most of my earlier attempts failed, but my writting has improved I think. I've never been able to write poem and screenplay's unfortunately.

i dont know why but my site isnt working right now :/
i'm trying a screenplay right now. it takes place in the time of hitler. this guy reads Mein Kampf (a book that basically screamed hitler's plans, but it was poorly written so nobody read it) except the guy in my story. the guy tries to warn everyone and they dont listen and he ends up getting put into a concentration camp. but he survives
im making it a screenplay so it can get to the majority of society b/c its important to learn people warn you about thing happening and when you dont listen terrible things can happen and i want to make sure people know what happen in that time (many people sleep in history class)

That sounds really cool! I just started a story about this guy who is put into the facility where they do human testing. It takes place after world war 3, and the world is run by all these corrupt politicians and dictators, and everyone's worst fear is to be put into the Montgomery Institution. The guy in my story is going to start a revolution I htink, but it's still in the planning stages.

I'm the only person who pays any attention in history. I've always loved history, which makes everyone think I'm weird. I'm also the only one that doesn't laugh at the customs or names of people from other countries.

I know exactly how you feel about history. I partly blame my dad (he's a complete history buff) and i'm just real good at it when it comes to grades. It's really fun and i don't understand why more people don't enjoy it!
