OK, the main difference between old and new English is origins. Whereas Old English was a derivitave of native British Languages, some norsic, saxon. Whereas middle and modern Engish have as origins of Old English, French, spanish, latin, and slight hints fo other languages. Therefore Modern and middle english is a bit smoother because there is a greater choice of verbs, grammar rules etc compared to Old. Also, the sound itself is different. Old english has a rougher sounbd when spoken compared to Modern English. Anduril may have more ideas but these are some of the main differences between the two.
Hope this was somewhat useful.

yes i agree. That dose about sum it up. Middle english is also more lyrical, it lits alot more. Eben prose sound like poetry...Old english aslo has its roots in The middle east, but thats going back much further. I only know this as i lan to take a course on celtic/scandinavien which will include phentics. Por example, the Hittite word for water is wata....weird huh. Plus the word for bread is almost exactly the smae all over the world...can't rember what it is though...

well sort of, it wasn't the romans who brought the eastern languge influences to britain it was the vickings, and the celts and the saxons. Most european languages have ancestor langauges that can trace back to an ancestor language in the middle east which can trace back to another language further east ect, back to the probable first languages. But no one knows thouse.

Im certain there were Sarmations in britain, warriors from the eastern steppes and I spose their language would have filtered into everyday OE lol.

A true knight be cultured as well as a good warrior. This is a club for Quintessential refinement as well as to discuss of the knights of old.

A archery tournament!!! Wow...I'm sorry about the bruise but I'm sure you didn't do horrible. Congrats anyway, no matter how badly you think you did!
And...um...a topic...a topic without headaches...okay!
Why do you love the knight that you chose as your favorite?

Hmm... I like Gawain because of how the awsome Gerald Morris portrayed him into a more believible, human, and humorous knight. With a witty, yet humble squire - Terence.
