I'm glad we figured it out while we did because I knew I'd be too busy to do anything from today until Sunday. It didn't feel too rushed to me, but honestly after so many years I've just come to expect the unexpected when it comes to Hallowfest. =P All in all, I'm glad we caught the killer. I'd have been glad had we not caught her.

@LWN:
You were a sneaky one!

I have to admit that I couldn't enjoy the Hallowfest nearly as much as the other years because my schedule was just so jammed this past week. I didn't have the time to dedicate to planning the Hallowfest nearly as well as I have in the past and I wasn't able to collaborate with Lady White Night as well as I could have in the past with Nurrantiel or TheThain.

I had three tests, two lab reports, and other appointments this week and it was definitely a trial finding the energy to come on AU and host the Hallowfest, which I did rather poorly this year.

You would think that the solution to this would be to sort of "hand over" or co-operate the Hallowfest with someone, but with so few members now, I didn't want to take away the fun of the Hallowfest from any of the members.

I completely understand how you feel, JF. This year sort of fell flat for me as well, and I think it was due to a combination of things. I mean, don't get me wrong, the first two days were great (even being killed was great!), but afterward it just felt slow, and the end was too quick. I've been super busy with uni this week and was sort of disappointed that when I actually had time to look at A-U the killer had already been guessed. *sigh* But, good on all of you for coming up with the right person! :)

@ Roy: I just want to ask you whether you could try to write in decent English. Your posts confuse me at times, and the bad language is just annoying.
English is not my first language and sometimes it takes me like half an hour to write a post because I'm re-double checking my spelling and vocabulary, and yet I still make mistakes, but I'm trying.
So please, could you please put the same efforts in your posts? Thanks! :)

I quite agree with Lar and JF's opinions on the Hallowfest. I missed the teamwork between the members (in the RPG but also in the HQ) to solve the murder. It seemed all quite individual to me.

I also didn't like the suicide set-up. Personally I think it undermines the whole Hallwfest-concept. It's Kit who decides who the murderer will be, and Kit + the murderer only, are allowed to make up clues and decide on the victims. They are the boss. By making this set up undone, the whole game is taken apart.
Every guest could just decide they were going to die, or make up clues. It makes it impossible, and less fun, for the other guests to solve the murder (and in this case the objective of the suicide didn't even worked since the murderer was caught anyway).

I want to applaud to Kit for pulling this thing off, while being busy as hell. And also for LWN, who was still a very innocent murderer. I really really enjoyed the Hallowfest, especially the first few days, and I liked the fact that it was in another setting.

Perhaps by making this a two week event next year, everyone will get more time to post (in the weekends for example), to think about the clues and Kit could have more time to consult with the murderer. It gives more space for socializing, random RPing and group happenings, like a ball or a quest.

That's just my two cents. :)

Sure, I am a terrible speller and am not very good at grammer most of the time. I am usually in a hurry so I don't pay that much attention to what I write. I"ll try harder next time to use proper English. :)

Yeah, I know what you mean Will. I felt like there were small groups of people working together and everyone else was just... not part of the team. So it's not just you thinking that.

I also have to agree about the sucide thing. I'm still really confused about how it worked, how it was supposed to fit it or not fit in. I mean, why would Richard NOT tell people it was suicide? As a guest and not in cahoots with LDK why would he try and frame Damon? Sorry guys, but I agree with Will. The only thing we can say is true of the Hallowfest is that there are murders and a murderer(s) and it's all to do with Kit and the chosen one. I think that if we in future take any death as being the work of individual guests, it will just make everything pointless. Personally, I would have loved HH and Sparkle to do a Bonnie and Clyde and get rid of anyone who has a problem with Sparkly and Headless people, but if it isn't on Kit's cards, it ain't gonna happen.

The boat idea was an awesome one. The maps were really great, I'm just sorry we never got to explore half of them. Kit, we all knew you were going to be busy, and it's not like we've never had a week before. Maybe some of us were too used to 2 weeks of the Hallowfest to get into the rhythm of just one week, but you did your best. There are many reasons why for some of us, this years Hallowfest wasn't what we hoped. And LDK, it's always the innocent people! :P

I'm just sad that it's all over, people are already changing their names back, and we're all going to drift apart again.

I enjoyed Hallowfest, but not as much as last year. That was my own fault. Some car and school issues happened which made me unable to be on like I wanted to. I wish I could have been apart of the group, but I wasn't. Life happens. It was still fun to watch, and I hope I can be around more next time. Still shocked that the killer got caught.

No, this Hallowfest wasn't as good as in previous years, but I think it had its moments. :) I was really hoping things would pick up on the weekend, because that seemed when people had the most time. It doesn't surprise me that it slowed down so much during the work week.

It's too bad the role-playing didn't really take off, though. I guess people just devoted anytime they had to give input on the clues, since that's less involving and time consuming. (Witness the fact that the HQ thread is nearly as long as the RP thread!) The cruise would have been more fun, I think, if we'd have had time to do coordinated activities, like a ball or community swim or shuffleboard contest. As it was, I don't feel like it was that much different from the haunted house. But it's understandable we didn't-- if there isn't time, there isn't time, and there's not much you can do about it. :)

I think Kit still deserves a hand for putting it on, as always, even though her life probably would have been a lot easier if she had just let it go this year. Image
And thanks to Lady White Night too, for... um.... killing us? :P... and giving us a great puzzle to work out! You did a great job, and I think we caught you with more help from dumb luck than we'd care to admit. :teehee:

And if I may, I'd like to plug the Pumpkin Carving Contest and the Autumn Graphics Contest here too. :P Their deadline is Halloween, but of course we can extend it if you need us too. ;)

KIT! Obviously, we were all pretty busy. ;) I love you for even attempting it, and you managed to pull it off. You just plain ROCK! :) :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :punk:

I really apologize for the smiley spam... I just feel like there aren't enough emoticons to express my amazement for Kit...

Just to let everyone know, we checked with Kit and she completely approved of everything we did, even giving us suggestions to make it work better. I have never been killed off or been the murderer, and I wanted to get involved in a sneaky way to shake things up. It was a one-time thing, and we weren't even sure if it would work or do anything, which it obviously didn't. ;) Well, Skitty and I had so much fun giggling over it and planning it, and it made Hallowfest so much better for me. :-D

Ok, first off, Kit, I think it's amazing that you managed to post what you did this year, considering the circumstances. I know I'm impressed. And, I also know that I, personally, couldn't imagine anyone else running this thing. I think JF said you were the unifying and driving force over the years... And I totally agree. So, yeah. THANK YOU, Kit, for another year.

All that being said, I also enjoyed myself last year more. Obviously, I was the murder, which... You know, is fun. XD But, that aside, I think that this year's... turnout is no one's fault. Like, honestly, everyone seemed busy this year. And having it all compressed in one week didn't help matters. Although, really, two weeks with only scattered activity here wouldn't have been much better either. I think it's sad that there wasn't as much activity. But... Nothing anyone here can do about that. Unfortunately.

As to the suicide thing, I'm still ridiculously confused about it all... So... Y Yeah... :erm:

All in all, it was great to chill with you guys for the first time in a while. And admire the creativity of all of you and such... I had fun.

Well I actually thought the list of attendees was pretty impressive, but I guess when you don't see new posts, or when you try to get things started and people don't respond, you drift away to the HQ. So had everyone been willing to post or try and keep things moving (like the first couple of days), it would have been noticeable how many people were involved this year. Which probably adds to my disappointment as it was a healthy list!

All hail Kit, indeed. What would we do without her?

And yes, I dunno what it was about this year, I was checking the posts all the time, but I just didn't have any motivation to get involved. And it was just kind of, chaos without any order. I think maybe it was the franticness of only having a week.

Also, I didn't think that suicide was confusing. It was yet another red herring, of which, god knows, we have had plenty over the years. And since it ended up further leading us to LWN, it doesn't really matter.

^ Actually, I think it does matter. By staging another murder, while Richard and Damon both actually knew that it was just fake, they both had extra information, of which the other guests were ignorant. Like I already said, it undermines the whole concept that EVERYONE is provided with the SAME amount of information, to make the game fair and fun.
I mean, what use did the votings have, if two persons already knew that Damon was not the murderer? Nothing. The voting system was pointless.
I think that Kit has to decide what are red herrings and clues, and if Kit is too busy, than it would depend on a person who she chose as her accomplice.

That would be so awesome! :P But then they would also have to die together, which is rather romantic, but still tragic. And can the Horseman even die? Without a head he's practically died already.. :teehee:
