i like romance and kinda depressing stories, i wish there would be a prompt i could write about, i can't think of anything worth wrtiting and anything you guys would want to read.

I just started writing a book last week. It's called "Bookclub Romance" i really like the title. It's about a guy (Victor) and a girl (jasmine) and they're both into reading and theyr a bit different in their personality but they both start fancying eachother once bookclub starts, so far its cute...i hope i can actually finish this one, i have sooo many unfinished stories its insane

^sounds great! :D is there a certain plot or is it just romance? I write romance, but I find it impossible to write what you'd call "cute and happy" romance. when I write romance, it's usually tragedy where one dies and the other goes for vengeance (which is basically what happens in the story I'm writing now).

my domain is fantasy. I'm the complete fantasy nerd. I can come up with almost any plot as long as it's fantasy. I'm also into reading and writing action. when I write fantasy, it can't be without the battles that come along every few pages or so  I've been killing off characters in my stories since I was 8. can't write a story without a character(s) dying, some titanic emotional battle fought, and a sacrifice made.

Sounds like a cool book, No More Despair!
I've written/come up with ideas for sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction, romance, and suspense. Now if I could just get busy and actually write more than a few pages or chapters on one idea. lol.

Sirius's contest? I didn't ever enter that one. I was busy when it was getting started with camp and stuff. :-( Does anyone have an idea for a new prompt?

I'm afraid of my story for Sirius's contest becoming too lengthy. it's 20 pages so far and I'm only halfway through it.

Ow >.< You should consider shortening it a bit... Eventually write it all without thinking what Sirius will say :P

Man. It's been a while.
A warm welcome to Firaeya!

Is there going to be a new prompt sometime soon? I realize I've missed the last couple, so it's not really my place to ask, but I have to anyway because I'm like that.
I would respond to the last one, except that I've always been terrible at writing first persons with anything that has plot to it.

It seems like most people enjoy fantasy writing around here (well, that should be obvious, I guess; it's a forum for a fantasy book). I love reading fantasy but I can never seem to write it unless I'm doing satire. It's pretty awful. :annoyed2:

I guess I will suggest a prompt:

Hands

Now...GO! ;)

Read a bunch of horror books and try to get ideas? Eventually put it away for a while and take it out again when you feel ready to continue. Hope it helps! :)

watch a horror movie? listen to some horror-ish music? just spend ten minutes of your life conjuring up images to scare yourself? tell us the details of your story thus far and I'll try to think of something.

I agree with Lizzie. Put it up for a while and think it over, and something will come to you in a few days.

As for the prompt... Here goes. I'd like some feedback, if anyone is willing.

It's hard to remember.
Isn't that awful? Of course I say I can; I say I remember every word from his lips and every wrinkle etched into his face, but I don't. I know his eyes, brown and dark, always crinkled by secret smiles even though his life was so hard. I know his smell-- cologne and Simple Green cleaner and hot earth. Sometimes that scent chases me, or catches me off guard when I root through his old papers, trying to find a snatch of his handwriting just so I won't forget.
I remember his hands. Spotted by the sun and rough with labor and washing, one big enough to hold both of my own. I remember their faint smell of pipesmoke, and their strength. They were good hands. Worn down with age, but still quick to touch. To ease. To catch.
He always caught me. Just before my little knees hit the concrete; just before the dirt touched my palms, his arms, wrapped up in blue cowboy plaid, would make sure I never felt that pain. It was a game back then; I would stumble just to feel him reach out and hold me, and he would scold in the voice that never rose because it never needed to. When he spoke the world held its breath.
What will he be to me in five years more? The same as he was ten years past?
No.
He'll be a picture on the wall and a voice in my head. He'll be in the woody cologne that will still make me freeze if I catch it on the wind. He'll be in the memories that will still make me cry, even as I pray that they'll never escape me. He'll be what he is now; fragments and snippets of things that I never knew and things that I'll always take to heart.
He'll be in the hands that I memorized when he thought I was sleeping.
He was the man that never failed to catch me.
When he was gone I fell too hard.

Oh help! I've totally lost track of things. I haven't been on for two weeks and here I am in a group of chaos. Hmm, how about "chaos" for a next prompt? Just and idea, like. Good writing, Anna, btw!

Oh Anna, that's fabulous! You're a great writer.
