I love Liv Tyler as Arwen! I can't understand it! And some people say the movies had too much of her. I think they had too little. Maybe it has something to do with this: english people listen to her english, her pronunciation, and she speaks in an 'elven' kind of way.. sort of. but to finnish people who don't understand english, it might sound like overtrying to be an elf.. maybe.

Interesting way to look at it Earlinde. I thought that it just came naturally to her. But I won't repeat myself.

I thought she did an excellent job. I don't quite see where they're coming from.

Yeah, it is sort of hard to see their side and opinions when you're so intuned with your own. It's just hard for me to understand why they believe that, but I guess that's just how they think.

dont get a prejudice against finns now, after this guys! (well, swedish moose, you must have one already :P) it's how some ppl think, and I DISAGREE. i think she was really natural, and Arwen being the Evenstar of her ppl, the beauty must be overwhelming, and Liv is overwhelmingly beautiful. I wanted to dye my hair to look more like her.. :)

No, I respect that that's their opinion. I just don't see why they could think that. Perhaps I am a bit prejudiced, because Arwen and Aragorn were my favorite characters before I even saw the movie, so thought she did a brilliant job right away. :P

I don't really know if you can call it prejudice just because you don't agree with their opinions but let's just stay on subject. But Arwen, i would agree I liked Arwen before I saw the movies but I loved her even more after seeing the movies.

I saw the movies before I read the book; in fact, I did not even know LOTR existed before I saw FOTR. Anyhow, I did not care for Arwen one bit. But after I saw TTT a few times, i became a Eowyn fan, then later a Arwen fan. :D

That's sort of how it was for me. My friend was telling me about the first movie. So I went out and bought the book so I could read that before I saw the movie.

It was the same for me as well. I saw FOTR in the cinema (I didn't know LOTR or Tolkien until then  and today I can't understand that to be honest), recognized that it is the first part of a trilogy, bought all three books, read them until TTT was released and became a huge fan of Arwen, mainly because of the "Tale of Arwen & Aragorn" in the appendix, which is one of my favourite parts.
It's such a shame that Arwen doesn't appear that much in the books. I would love to read more about her...

I know, me too. She's rarely even brought up except for in the appendixes... :'(

But therefore this part belongs to the most wonderful ones of the whole trilogy...

I would've liked to read more about Arwen too. but the 'going ons' between Aragorn and Arwen wouldn't have fitted maybe the book so well, but in the movie it kind of is obvious Aragorn is dreaming of Arwen for example. :P it's kind of hard to explain what I mean but hope you understand. the flashback/dream bits would've been a bit hard to include in a book

Ya- and just when he was talking to Eowyn and stuff. They incorporated it very well I think. :)

I know what you mean. They worked those parts in very well. I think it was so the movie flowed and it was probably there to help people who maybe weren't as familiar with the books but were going to see the movies.
