I know but I just can't stand him.
I suppose I'm not the only one who wishes that the classic Dumbledore actor didn't pass away

True, but I'm sure there were better candidates out there then the current actor.

No acutally, I would have been satisfied with another Dumbledore, like Ian wouldn't have been bad. And the thing about the Albus in the fourth movie is taht he acts like he has anger management problems, and why did he tie up his beard?

^No idea Arien
Now that I remember, Cuaron was the one who wanted Michael Gambon as Dumbledore.

Don't you just hate it when you click on the wrong thread?
While I'm here I thought I should just mention that I preferred Michael Gambon over Richard Harris. I thought the latter portrayed Dumbledore as being a frail old man rather than an old man who still had life left in him. I think someone mentioned that Gambon had his beard tied up? I can't remember if that happened in the books or in the previous films but if it didn't, I could write a book about the differences from book to film and film to film, so that's a minor thing that you can't blame the actor for. It must have been a difficult for him to have stepped into a role previously filled by Harris anyway.
Ian McKellen would have been a good Dumbledore but I feel he is a batter Gandalf. But all the tea in China would not tempt him to play Dumbledore (he has a different name for him ) as he hates the books so....

Ian was perfect as Gandalf! I think that seeing him in another role where he's a good wizard would seen weird.

Does Ian hate the books? I din't know that, I thought he just didn't want to play another very similar wizard. I can see his point there even if I do think he would have been perfect.
And I complelty agree with you about Gambon

I suppose the present actor is an 'okay' Dumbledore but the previous one had a better Dumbledore-quality.
