We just finished studying ancient India, and we're now moving on to Ancient China. It's very interesting actually- I found Hinduism and Buddhism fascinating.

I just finished with Alexander the Great and now I'm moving on towards Rome, which excites me because I the Roman Empire, in my opinion, is incredibly fascinating.
I also studyed Ancient China and India in the past 2 weeks, we move kind of fast. Asian Philosophy confused the heck out of me.

I mainly stick with the european history, all tough one empire in the east that fascinates me. The persian empire in the achaemenid dynasty. It was the first ever empire to have effective messaging and allowed everyone to practice their own religion as long as they stayed loyal.
Wise I say, funny how usually persians are imagined cruel and savage.... but who wrote that stuff? Yes indeed, the greeks did and no wonder that the persian empire is so unknown. Yet the actually longest surviving persian dynasty was the sassanid dynasty before the islamic conquest in, which it shattered.

I love India and it's colorful culture and people! I am really looking forward to visiting there one day. I would go with a friend that can speak the language though, lol. It is a beautiful (seeming) place even though there is such etreme poor.
At my school it's:
9th: no history
10th: Modern World History
11th: US History
12th: Government and Economy (facinating... )
WD 8)

Well of course the greeks wrote them in a bad light because of the Persian Wars. From what I learned about the Persian Empire, is that some emporers were worse than others, some kind and understanding towards another culture and others not. But that's true of any culture.

Oh, yes, WD- I would LOVE to visit India someday too.
And I am enjoying China as well... I would place it behind India and Egypt, but I still like it. I'm in 9th grade too, Mornie, and in 9th at my school you learn about all sorts of ancient cultures and civilizations, as well as Medevil times, which I love.

The Sassanid's fall was almost depressing for me, it basically destroyed the last vestiges of ancient Persia.

Tell me about it, but then again did pave way for a religion and culture that would last and spread till today not to mention to the ottoman empire
btw people there is a nomination once more, for someone who is into somethig other than LOTR there a haradrim award. you may nominate each others for history etc

It's quite sad how uninformed some people are about Eastern empires.

We didn't really talk about the Persian Empire in my class either, except for the Persain Wars. We were expected to read up on the Persain Empire ourselves.
