Lol, I could never call one of my teachers that, considering that my teachers all happen to be the mothers (yes, all of my teachers are female) of my friends. They wouldn't like that.

I never really had an intrest in pirates and so don't know anything about them really. I'm better on pre-Tudor. I can talk about Francais Drake and Elizabethan pirates but not the people you mentioned.

Bah, the Barbary pirates were much better. Plus my knowledge of the Ottoman Empire gives me much more knowledge of them.

Dunno, Barbarossa (Redbeard) as the most famous one and probably the only one people only come across and should I recall correctly he was given quite a rank by the sultan of the ottoman empire.

...I don't know much 'bout pirates... ....You can leave me out on this one.....
OR maybe not.
I saw a history channel thing other other day and I know a little. I like Henry Morgan, though he wasn't technically a Pirate.
That's all my input for now.......
But I'll talk about Ottomans!
Maybe.....

Cool. I often theorize what would happen if Suleiman the Magnificent had taken Vienna. *sighs*

Europe = F*cked , well nah I am sure that the ottomans couldn`t have gone too far... or well... their armies at that time were one of the best, thanks to the janissaries. At least Europeans would have crapped their pants at the moment because considering that Vienna was really a vital city for the Habsburg empire.

I have this wonderful image of the King of Poland converting to Islam with a sword pointed at his back....Of course Suleiman wouldn't outright annex him, but vassalship is just as good.

Can I join? and jump right in?
Well Poland was basically the European defence against the Ottoman Empire, since in those days it reached right down into what is now -uh- Bulgaria (or somewhere there anyway ). Before it was divided that is.
That's what we can talk about! The Polish Divide (or whatever it's called in English )

Well, Hungary and Austria were the real bulwarks against Ottoman agression. Of course Poland did manage to get pimp-smacked by the Ottomans a few times, resulting in the loss of Podolia.
