I just finished Elfen Lied and the OVA. Absolutely stunning. It's graphic, brutal, violent. But has an underlying theme of love and friendship overcoming the odds. I loved it.

I'm at a loss now though, as the only ongoing series I'm watching is Bleach now that Death Note has ended *sniff* I should get back into Blood+ as I was really enjoying it.
Welcome to all newcomers to the group. Hopefully we can keep this a little more alive.

If it's back open, then I'd like to join!
I'm having a renewed anime obsession right now, thanks in part to me running across Crunchyroll one lonesome day.
I've heard of Elfen Lied, is it really any good? Right now I'm into a bit tamer anime, heh heh, *points at sig*

I loved it. But I'd not call it tame in any way, shape or form. It's very violent and isn't afraid to show nudity. The first episodes death count alone astounded me, but I was intrigued and glad I stuck it out. It may not be for you at the moment.
If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend Bleach. Has great humour, serious stuff and swords. I'm completely in love with it. But there up to Season Five now I think, so it might be hard to get into it.
I'm probably the last person to advise on tamer Anime, as I prefer more adult anime.

Hmm Bleach will defenitley be worth investigating then. The only anime I've seen that's slightly adult is Ayashi no Ceres. On second thought it's probably considered older teen, but I love it.

Death Note was cool... saw the movie, and there was the real version with real ppl, played by japanese guys... i didn't really think they were cute... I mean, compared with anime guys, some real guys, even cute ones, can't really compare. Since you can draw something perfect, but you can't make a real life person perfect... Well... plastic surgery but
Anyone read Red River? It's gotten to like... (manga) volume 18 or somethign translated...

The live action Death Note is pretty good. The CGI on Ryuk was outstanding. I've seen the second one, and attempted to buy it off Ebay but it never arrived >.>
imo The guys that played L and Light were gorgeous. I guess it's all in personal taste though. The girl that played Misa was adorable too, though not blonde >.> but she played the part well and that's enough for me.

but, as you said, personal taste.

They have a live action Death Note movie? Really? Do they even have an Anime on it? I have just read some of the manga and I found it to be interesting.

Yup there's two movies. Death Note and Death Note: The Last Name.
The Anime has been ongoing for a while, I think they made..two seasons. 37 episodes all in I know that. It was absolutely outstanding, one of the best Anime's I've ever seen by far.

End of the day it's how they play the role, like I said the actress that played Misa wasn't blonde (or wore a wig) but acted the role very well. As did the two guys that played L and Light. Especially the guy that played L, he was perfect in an acting sense.

Really? Two movies? I heard there was one but I didn't know there was two. I also heard that they used real actors for it but I don't know. Is that true?
I actually just found out that my sister has been watching the anime series.

I've watched Gundam Wing, Fullmetal Alchemist, Evangelion, and D.N. Angel, and read the FMA/Hagaren manga — any ideas what I should see next? The first two I saw (and liked) dubbed, and the latter two subbed (I couldn't stand the dubs for those), though I'm about to rewatch GW subbed.
I'm thinking of seeing Death Note and Naruto — I've also heard good recommendations for Bleach, Weiss Kreuz, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Code Geass, and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Any idea what I should see first, or something else?
