I'd highly, highly recommend Death Note. It's very dark and psychological. It's very well written and animated.
Bleach I just adore. It can be quirky one minute and serious the next. Plus it has one of the greatest characters of all time in it. Urahara Kisuke.
I'd recommend Elfen Lied, Ergo Proxy, Blood+ and Monster.
From an animation stand point, Ergo Proxy is simply beautiful.

I'm thinking of seeing Death Note and Naruto — I've also heard good recommendations for Bleach, Weiss Kreuz, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Code Geass, and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Any idea what I should see first, or something else?
Oh, I haven't seen Gundam Wing in years. I use to love it.

Why would she get mad?

Because its supernatural..and my mom hates anything like that...she'd probably think its some form of witchcraft or whatever.
But I think Im gonna watch it anyways. Even if it sorta goes against our Religion...as long as I can tell that its not real, then im good.

She wouldn't like Salem, Massachusetts then. XD If you know it's history anyway.
Well, I'm not going to say anything about the religion since I am not religious but I never could understand why some things are so-called 'going against religion.'

I just started Death Note — after seeing episode 1, I was skeptical that I liked it (I hadn't quite formed an opinion yet), and almost a bit offended (I don't like Yagami Light), but episode 2 got me hooked. I've since seen episodes 3 through 12, and am about to see 13 before I go to bed. Sadly, I went to IMDB to check who voiced Raye Penber's fiancée, as her voice reminded me of the seiyuu for Katsuragi Misato in Evangelion. It wasn't the same seiyuu, apparently. BUT, the problem is, the character/seiyuu list had "character such and such, ## episodes", etc., and as there are 37 episodes, I took it to mean that the characters who didn't appear for all of them ended up dying — I suspect at least two certain characters will die in the last episodes they're mentioned on in IMDB. I think I spoiled it for myself!

*raises hand* I'd like to join, please! I love manga/anime! (Have to say my favorite is Fullmetal Alchemist, though I also love Naruto, Fruits Basket, Wolf's Rain, Hikaru no Go, Spiral, Ouran High School Host Club, and Rurouni Kenshin, even if I've only just started the last one.)

Having completed the series, I won't say a word.
I went through phases with Light. But overall I liked him as a character.
If you don't mind me asking what offended you about it?

Well, I was shocked to see what _actually_ happened instead of expecting things to turn out exactly like I had predicted. I'm about to see #24. As for Light, he's certainly intelligent, but I didn't like him until when he said the word 'discard' (I think you know what event I'm talking about), despite the fact that that may have made his character less complex than before that phrase. As for offending me, I'm not sure — at first, I was slightly offended at the idea that someone (human) would/could be given the power to 'judge' others and deem them worthy of death or life. Kira's actions could have been far worse — I don't think it's a good idea for humans to have that power.

That's what I found so great about Death Note. The shocks and twists are what make it brilliant. I just love that aspect of it.
That's another thing I loved about Death Note. It's ability to look inside ourselves and ask those difficult questions.
Could we do the same as Light? Could we do it so easily? Do we believe our morals are better than others'?
It's such a complex, deep show.

I just started Naruto this weekend, and am currently on episode 51 *g* ... I'm not looking forward to the dubbed episodes or fillers, though.
