^I think Sirius' death was to make Harry grow up more fast. That's what I think.

Yeah, that's true. But I think locking him up in Azkaban and not being able to help Harry in any way, would have been the equivalent; I don't see how her wanting to prove death is quick, wasn't proven with Cedric. Sirius was killed unecessarily, there are so many other ways to get his character out of the picture. I mean, he could have been injured badily or something if so.

Well, with Sirius injured, Harry still relied on him for moral and emotional support, and in some ways Sirius is too much like Harry, and sometimes Sirius hasn't quite grown up yet --- and Harry needs to grow up.
Though, Remus could have made some guidance on Harry's part, so that Remus could talk Harry into 'growing up' a little, though during OotP, I doubt anyone could get through to him much.

Sirius's death was like a wake-up call for Harry saying he couldn't have those hissy fits all the time.
Anyways, back to Remus.
I'm curious --- before the third movie, how did we all picture Remus?

I totally see your point on the fact that Sirius still had that recklessness in him from his youth; and also why he had to be taken out of the picture; but the way he was taken was to drastic and pointless. I just think it could have been done another way.
Yeah, Remus could have said more; but knowing him, he is quiet as is, and isn't one to press and takes people more as they are. Besides, he has his own problems. And I don't think that much of what they said would have gotten through to Harry, and it would take up too much of the book as well, possibly.
Harry was really just a raging teenager in book five, and it seemed he was to confused to try to make sense of any of it, and just stayed mad. Sirius' death really was a wake up call, but I still think there are other ways to see Sirius out of the picture.

I'm curious --- before the third movie, how did we all picture Remus? Good question Kit!. I had a slight idea in my head but it wasn't a clear one. For me, he could be anyone who could be calm, nice and sweet. I guess that's why I like Lupin from the movies. Quote: Could I join please?
Sure!!! Welcome Captain Jack

Hehe, can I join, too?
Before POA, I pictured him with lighter brown hair that was going grey and no mustache and...I always get biased by the book illustrations. Oh, and no scar on his face, that surprised me a lot when I saw that.

I pictured him with light brown hair, no mustache, and green eyes. His robes were more tattered and patched too. I still see him like that when I read it, which is odd. Usually after I see a movie of a book, I can only see them as they were portrayed in the movie when I read the book again.

I pictured him like on the back of the American OotP. the guy behind Moody and Tonks that's kind of looking upward. that's how I've always imagined him, actually. that's why I held such a grudge against the movie version of Lupin

Agreed. I didn't cry when Sirius died because it seemed so odd.
I wasn't really able to picture Lupin that well. When I pictured Remus I just pictured a blank piece of paper with the name, "Remus J. Lupin" on it...
Which is really strange because it's very fitting. Remus is the kind of person that can easily be forgotten and left unliked. I feel so guilty.

I don't feel so bad after all. I wasn't the only one who didn't have clear idea of him.
Awwww You are right. That is sad but true
