Grr. My mom and my sister are always trying to inflict pink blouses upon me. "No thanks" I always tell them. "I like my black t-shirts with the white tree of Gondor on the front."

They have toned it down and the subject does not come up as often, but they got to my younger sisters and they too wear blouses and pink coats. *sigh*

My mum is trying to get me to wear a dress for a particular party I'm going to... The one she has in mind is purple with pink bows and frills. It is a 'smart' party, but how do I refuse politely?

My parents don't care what I wear/do in general, so I don't get clothes thrust upon me...I went to a forest today for New Year's and decided to play 'Cover-Yourself-In-Mud-And-Leap-Out-Of-Bushes-At-Small-Children'. My sister avoids dirt and mud like the plague..

That sounds like fun, Wingfoot... I wish my mum would let me do stuff like that. lol
Her favourite thing to say to me at the moment, is 'It isn't ladylike to *insert action of choice* like that!' It irritates me...

Gah, dresses...I own 3 skirts, and I wear them maybe 4 or 5 times a year, for piano recitals, mainly. My favorite outfit consists of jeans and a sweatshirt hoodie or t-shirt. lol

Ditto. Much to the annoyance of my older sister, who wears a skirt whenever she can. But I gotta wear those darn dresses to church. That'll be the only time you can force me to wear one!

I only have one skirt, and I'm out growing it. That's why I had to wear the dress to the wedding.
@ Wingfoot: That's awesome! I love scaring people like that

Gah, I hate the word 'ladylike'...luckily for me, my dad refers to me as 'The Son He Never Had', so I got taken to the garage when I was younger and given toy cars while my sister went to the park and played with Barbies

That's great, Wingfoot! I have a brother, so I kind of get pushed aside.

What I hate now is that it seems, once you reach puberty, girls must eaither become complete and total athletes to be considered tomboyish or else you get shoved into the geeky pile of non-dateable girls that no one pays attention to. Why can't I still run around and play, even though I'm not a star athlete, and why can't I still have friends who are guys?
