Ooh, that sounds good! I'll have to check that out.
We just watched Scrooge tonight (old black and white film)...we do every year to get in the holiday mood. Scrooge, It's a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street. *sigh* Old movies are wonderful.
Anyone else have holiday traditions? Or seen any good oldies recently?

oh, oh! I must join this!

Personally, I don't think a modern-day actress can match Katharine Hepburn beauty! She was truly one of the loveliest actresses that ever came across the screen. I'm also a big fan of...

Bob Hope
ROY ROGERS!!!! (that was one heck of a guy! I own ALL of his movies, and his television series. If he wasn't deceased, I'm sure I would crush fangirlishly on him. LUCKY Dale Evans!!)
Gene Kelly (love Brigadoon!!)
Fred Astaire
Humphrey Bogart

And then who can forget that genious director, Walt Disney? Last year I did my end-of-the-year term paper on him. He was so amazing.

ooo, can i join? i absolutely adore old films. no one can or will match the genius of either orson welles or alfred hitchcock, and old film actors had this amazing screen presence that no modern actor has. citizen kane, rope, the red shoes and brief encounter are among my favourite films ever made.

Oh, I forgot about Jimmy Stewart! I was too busy raving over Roy Rogers... XD

But yeah, Stewart is a favorite of mine too! Besides being unbearably cute (he WAS! *insistant*) his drawl-ish accent, and slurry speech was just priceless, and his acting was matchless. :)

Yes, you may both join. :-)

Ah, Jimmy Stewart. Yes, he had a nice pleasant face and he was nice to look at.

Laurence Olivier could look very dashing sometimes. I thought he was very good in the Divorvce of Lady X, and for comedy he did very well. :D

So, *ahem* I don't suppose there are any other fans of classic westerns on here? John Wayne was a really good western actor, but not among my favorite. I actually preferred him in other roles, such as The Quiet Man.

Although I do love North To Alaska!

I sadly haven't seen many old westerns. And JF, I saw Sabrina! That is such a good film! (But I must admit, I'm a sucker for Hepburn or Bogart.) Jimmy Stewart is one of my favorite old actors too. It's a Wonderful Life - I just wanna hug him!

Alfred Hitchcock was a genius. I don't know how he did it. I think one of my favorites is North By Northwest with Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint. And Citizen Kane is a good movie too. Sad, and good. I've only seen it once though.

And I watched the Sting again. Can never get too much of the Newman/Redford charm. I love love LOVE that movie.

Oh man. How did I NOT know about this club?!
GAH! Johnny, can I join?!

I LOVE classic movies!

Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn are brilliant! My favourites! :)

I just watched, "Inherit The Wind", which reminded me just how much I love old movies! "12 Angry Men" is another favourite. ... Mmm ... I can't think of any more off the top of my head....but I will!

I'll have to post a list of all the pre-1960's films I own. I probably have a couple of hundred.

Yep, you can join Monty. Ooh, Inherit the Wind, I've only seen it once but it's a cracking film.

As much as I love Hitchcock (his earlier films especially) there is only really one of his later films that really appeals to me - Rear Window. North by Nothwest - I've tried to love it, and I really should love it but I just can't for some reason. The Birds really annoys me, and I knew too much about Pyscho to feel enthralled by it. No, I really love Rebecca, the 39 Steps, the Lady Vanishes, Shadow of a Doubt. :-)

Mmmm...not a huge Hitchcock fan. I remember, I saw a film by him...can't remember the name of it...but the entire film was in one room. Really bothered me...and The Birds. Bleh. :P Ha ha ha. Wasn't scary...just...annoying. Ha ha ha! I sat through North by Northwest because of Cary Grant. Ha ha ha!

I love Charades...:)...and Arsenic and Old Lace...and Roman Holiday....and My Fair Lady...(can you tell I like Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn?) :P OH! Bringing Up Baby! Ummm....what's that other one with Cary Grant and Kathryn Hepburn? MMMmmm.....

And this one, Paper Moon...I KNOW, was made in the 70s, but it captures the heart and spirit of those old classics! (Besides the fact that it was set in the 30s and was done in all black and white) Ha ha ha! Tis a brilliant film!

Gah! That movie is great!
Oh, and Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn....I think there was one "Woman of the Year" ? Maybe? No, checked, that's with Spencer Tracy.
Oh, maybe Philadelphia Story? Good movie. Practically perfect cast anyway. Hepburn, Grant, and Stewart.

I was looking through IMDB for that info, and came across her role in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. I really like that movie! Anyone else ever seen it? With Sidney Portier? He has good movies.
