I honestly don't think he's dead. Purgatory....it's a possibility of course, but I don't think so. Jack Sparrow just can't die. It's just not what Jack's about....  That doesn't make sense....I'll just shut up now _________________ "So what? So plenty!"

Well I don't want him to be dead but if you listen to the rumours (which may actualy be based on the script) then he ends up on an island filled with crabs - that's his purgatory.

I think he's dead, but Tia Dalma is gonna bring him back, like she brought Barbossa back.
