Hello everyone,
Welcome to the Official King Arthur Fanclub.
In this Club we can talk about King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and all the stories that are written about them, so not just the movie 'King Arthur', but all the books and films and theories about him.
I will make a clubbanner or ask someone to do it soon.
Feel free to join!

King Arthur is my favourite legend and I would love to join. On a side note there is some speculation that it actually is not a British legend but a French one. There are two possibilities to explain this:
One: The Roman-Britons from England brought the story to Brittany, which is an area of France, which also houses the forest where the French version of King Arthur tale takes place. This would mean it is actually a British legend that was brought to France so long ago they think it's actually theirs.
Two: William the Conquerer brought the legend over to England in 1066, but it became so popular in England it is thought to be a British legend.

That would only be true if it were a British in fact legend.
When I was doing a research paper on LOTR I was watching one of the documentarys on one of the extended dvds and it said Britain had no legends of it's own but borrowed from other cultures, which is one reason why Tolkien was so keen to write a fantasy like LOTR. If you think about it LOTR could be a British legend.

^ What I've read says that it's likely that Arther was a real British leader or at least based on one.
Anyway I'd like to join, I've loved the stories of King Arthur for years and have read quite a few different versions of them. At the moment I'm reading Mary Stewart's Merlin trilogy.

Ooooo, Cool! I love King Arthur... My favorite books about him (kind of) are Gerald Morris books. They're more about Gawain, one of his knights, but oh well. ^^ May I join?

I'd love to join, too! I love all the King Arthur myths, but especially everything to do with Morgaine and Avalon and such. Have you read "The Mists of Avalon"????? We could read it and discuss that!

Yay, I'm a member! ^^
I personally like fictional books about King Arthur, just because I can't focus on things that are actually more real-ish. I think my favortie of his knights is Gawain... ^^ Has anyone watched the movie King Arthur? [Bors was Mr. Beaver in Narnia!!]

@ Arawn: Ofcourse you can join! The more the merrier! I have read the Mistst of Avalon, and I love it. I bought it from the library, and now I read it when I am bored, because the writing style is soo wonderful!
@ Cloud Strife: Yeah, I have seen the movie! In the Netherlands it got really bad critics, but when I went to the cinema to see it, it was soo wonderful and great. It was really the 'real' story about King Arthur and his knights.
