Welcome to Arwen-Undomiel.com Forum's 4th Annual
HALLOWFEST

Let's get this party started. It is now October 23rd and it's time to break out the magnifying glasses and the thoughtful pipes, it's another round of insanity, spooks, and MUUUUURRRDDDEEEERRRRR, muwahahahahahah *hackcoughcoughwheeze*. Umff, excuse me.

As you look around, you may notice that something prominent has changed this year. I, Kit, was so hard pressed to find a proper realtor (can't find a good one these days in this economy) to sell me a house after such a terrible wrap sheet (*cough* it's not my fault the crazies come out during this holiday) that I had to resort to buying...

A ship.

Now, you may say, "Why Kit! Isn't a ship vastly more expensive than a house?"

Yes, it is. (Don't get me started on the insurance, good heavens!) But that doesn't even matter because you, see, THIS IS ENTIRELY FICTIONAL.

*readjusts her tie, 'cuz she totally has one*

Come, come! Come on board - make yourselves at home, find your cabins! Introduce yourselves! Mingle around on the sky deck with our complimentary brunch, all served single-handedly by my two servants, Yusef and Pliff, who will, inevitably, be everywhere at once.

Our cruise line will be taking leave of Nantucket Harbor and in 7 days, we will arrive at the La Rochelle Harbor. Because, clearly, we can cross the Atlantic in 7 days versus the standard 8 months.

(posting early as I may not have time to do so tomorrow. That okay Kit?)

Walking with the gait of the Stunt double that she was, Fuschia Rivers had left her room to explore the vast vicinity that was the cruise ship. As much as she tried to look confident, Fuschia found she couldn't.

She enjoyed sailing, however this for some strange reason unnerved her. Maybe it was the fact that she was unable to walk on her hands wherever she wanted.

Hmmm.

Maybe it was the fact that no matter how hard Fuschia tried to disconnect herself emotionally from her sword (and her broad collection of books + writing supplies), she was unable to do so and STILL felt naked without them.

With a sigh, Fuschia brushed the feeling aside and proceeded to observe the ship.

The engineering side of her was impressed with it's structure.

The stunt double side of her screamed for more space.

Her writer's side wished blissfully to head up to the deck and write to her heart's content, influenced by the various elements that was the outside world.

Cooly, she firmly reminded herself to record what she could of what would happen in order to place it into her blog, as a proper way of remembering what bright memories that would come of her journey here and continued to explore in hopes of meeting someone new.

Not at all keen on traveling by boat across the ocean, but certainly not willing to fly over there (who goes up in the sky in a big hunk of metal and expects it NOT to crash anyways?), Marie Antoinette resigned herself to being aboard a vessel with a bunch of strangers for a week or more. It might not be all that bad, though the host had seemed a bit...eager. Oh well, it was apparently the only boat on this continent going to France and she was going to take what she could get.

Wearing a frilly pink sun dress with yellow flowers on it and big shades over her eyes, she lugged one of her dozen bags straight to the biggest room she could find - the Captain's quarters. Who cared if she wasn't the Captain? She had too many things to fit under one of those awful bunks. And at least this bed looked healthy enough to sleep on. She would have to see if there was some sort of room service. two whole days without cake had done a number on her mood and charm.

Exploring the rooms, she came across a strange-looking rusty intercom. Pressing the button daintily, she looked around before speaking into it:

"Hello? Is anyone else on this ship?"

Fuschia jumped at the sound of someone's voice floating over the intercom.

Almost instantly did her hand rush to her right side, where her sword would have rested if she had it on her.

She was tense for only a moment before realizing that there was indeed someone else on this ship.

She was not alone.

Looking around, she rushed over to the nearest intercom, pressed the button and replied:

"Well hello there. And here I thought I was the only person on this ship! I'm Fuschia! What's your name?"

Her arms folded, Georgiana observed her cabin, which she had finally made fit for her official residence. It was rather too small for her liking, but she didn’t want to make a point of complaining about this to anyone. She didn’t want to hint to any indications of her enormous wealth. No, she had to seem normal, and approachable! Carefully closing the doors of her walk-in closet, which now housed her various evening gowns and casual outfits, she turned towards the mirror and observed her attire with a smile.

She was clad in a floaty, vintage ‘30s silvery grey dress, with a matching headscarf draped about her head and shoulders. Sliding on a pair of elegant black sunglasses, she struck her “casual” pose. Yes, she was sure she could fit in. Georgiana somehow missed the fact that her clothing, accessorized with her glittering jewelry, made her look very rich indeed. Moving away from the mirror, she picked up her slouchy canvas bag, which contained her notebook, fountain pen and several books. Whilst here, Georgiana intended to do a lot of reading and historical research, to aid her with writing her new book.

There was nothing she loved more than solving ancient mysteries. So far, she hadn’t made any money from her research – not that she really needed to anyway. Her book would be about Tudor England, a topic that fascinated her. Exiting her cabin, she locked the door behind her carefully. She knew that locking doors was a preoccupation of the wealthy – but she had good cause, for locked in her closet was her priceless diamond necklace.

As she reached the deck, Georgiana was suddenly alerted by the oddest noises, crackling over the intercom. Voices! Hurrying along, she searched for the people the voices belonged to. She’d not yet met any of the other guests on board the ship, and she was keen to exchange pleasantries.

“Hello!” she called, as she spotted Fuschia. “How do you do?”

"Oh, my" said The Horseman as he gazed at the huge vessel right in front of him.

He looked back down towards the invitation in his hand. "Definitely the right place" he said with a small sigh. He turned to Eliza, his faithful steed. "Didn't expect this did we? I thought it was just sitting by the water, a comfy ship that never set sailed. Perfect place for a party, although.." he added "I fear the atmosphere might not be the same" as he looked around for the usual decrepit building that hosted Madame Kit's party. He also felt different this year. Maybe it was just the setting, but he didn't feel his usual cheerful self. But that was probably just because he was on a ship. He wondered who else would be there. He hoped there would be some old faces, people he knew, people he liked....

Eliza neighed.

"I'm going! I'm going!" cried The Horseman. But he held on even tighter to the gangway railing. He hated water, and almost drowned once, and was nervous of being near open expanses of it, especially as he couldn't swim.

"Let's just hope" he said "in the event of a sinking, it's women, children, horses and headless people first" as he strode onto the ship with Eliza behind.

[... Just realised my maritime vocabulary is next to non-existent... interesting. :P]

White Night folded her umbrella upon arrival. A very convenient means of transportation which she had learned about from a movie and had later grown very fond of. Not only was it a light and safe way of travelling, you were also guaranteed a dry passage.

"It is a pity in fact", White Night thought to herself as she shook dew drops off the raven-feathered umbrella, "that not more people have discovered the convenience of umbrellas."

A light wind played in her raven-black hair and so making it possible to distinguish the hair from the midnight-dark travel cloak that covered most of her small figure. A cheerful expresion on her features and a playful glint in her eyes betrayed her casual and mellow nature.
White Night let her gaze examine her surroundings. She had never been on a cruise ship and had only experienced shorter stays on boats before. The extended travel, where the journey is the experience in itself, had never appealed to her rather impatient nature so when the invitation had been delivered to her she had been rather sceptical.
The adventurous side, however, did manage to convince White Night to join the cruise. And besides it would only be nice to get out of the house now that her husband had recently died in that awful accident.
She knew the servants had always despised her because of her gipsy blood and rather colourful background and now when their dear lord had so tragically passed away, they looked at her with greater mistrust than before.

White Night tilted her head with a melodramatic sigh at the thought of it. Good things come to she who acts and all she knew was that the fortune she had inherited could last for the rest of her life.

Most of the things that met her eyes on the ship were curiously familiar, but with a quaint maritime touch. She had arrived on the upper floor...
"DECK!!" she called out, "Upper deck, I'm pretty sure that's what it's called."

And then she almost bumped into the least likely creature to be found on a ship. A horse. (Unless it was a sea horse of course.)

"Mmnnngg!!"

[Nice Hallow-banner, Horseman :)]

Sparkle had been one of the first to board the enormous ship and to choose a cabin. Since she was not fond of small and restricted spaces, and quickly climbed the stairs to the main deck where all the other guests were arriving.

Sparkle couldn't look more sparkling than she did now. Her clothing was covered with silver, shining pallets and her jewelry was tinkling and sparkling. A radiant smile was on Sparkle's features so it seemed like, aside from her general sparkliness, that she was emitting a bright light herself as well.

The reason for Sparkle's overwhelming sparkliness, was not the cause of her presence on the rather large ship, namely Kit's party. No those always seemed rather dull and lifeless. But the arrival of the other guests. She had been looking forward to meeting them, and one in particular...

"Oh are you alright?" Sparkle asked White Night with a sweet smile, as the latter was almost run over by a horse. She looked at the women with serene interest. "Horses are terrible filthy you know..and they smell.."

Lord above, if she'd known about all the strange people that would be boarding the ship, she would have swam across the ocean to get to France. Standing at the railing of the Sky deck, she watched the other passengers board while wasting no time in sipping a slushie drink, waiting for the carrot cake she'd ordered over the intercom. No one had answered her, but she liked to think they'd been in such a hurry to comply that they didn't have time.

What was that? A horse? And beside it...

"Eee!"

She jumped back from the railing at the sight of the headless...being down below. She must be seeing things. It was just the stress from being so far from home, that was all. There was absolutely, positively no way there could be a headless person aboard the boat. Setting her unpleasant memories aside, she gathered her courage and stepped back up to the railing to look down. There was no sign of the person who'd arrived, headless or not, but the horse was still there. Someone ran into it and fell; another person, curiously glittery went to help her. Really, how on earth was she to survive a week with these odd people?

"Best go introduce myself," she said to no one and headed towards the elevator.

Once it had reached the deck level where the rooms were, she prepared a pleasant smile and stepped out - and straight into a very tall, very headless man. This time she didn't scream; she just fainted into a pretty heap on the ground.

Mrs. Lovett exited the coach and looked longingly in at her Mr. Todd, "My dear, how lovely of you to arrange this little vacation for me! I do adore you for that, you know? You're so thoughtful... " Her mind wandered to lovely things like weddings and picnics with her Mr. Todd. Mr. Todd exited the coach, chiming, "Oh, dear, the pleasure is mine, enjoy your getaway while I enjoy... some peace... and quiet... Not that I cannot enjoy it with you here, of course..." He grinned to himself, and pulled her luggage to the street and dropped it in a misshapen pile. They hugged, awkwardly, and Mrs. Lovett planted a kiss on Mr. Todd that he reluctantly accepted.

She turned as he entered the coach and drove away. She smiled at the cruise ship. "Hmm..." She examined her piles of luggage, one can never be too prepared. She put two bags under her arms, one across her shoulder, another on her back and grabbed one in her hand and pulled another along behind her. "Six bags... almost everything I own, almost as if Mr Todd is wanting to move me out!" she thought... Next time she'd have to pack lighter. She boarded the ship and began poking around for the guest rooms, hoping to find some poor boy to help her with her endless baggage.

[feel free to start an RP with Mrs. Lovett, but I'm about to head to work a 9 hour shift. unfortunately. I'll be here upon my return, though. :) ]

Seemingly all at once, the deck was filled with people. Indeed, they seemed to be undeniably strange people. That is to say, one of the guests was without a head. This struck Georgiana as very extraordinary. There was also a horse on deck, which seemed more than slightly eccentric, but she didn’t pass comment. After all, one wouldn’t want to be rude. Adjusting her sunglasses, Georgiana approached the group that was gathering on the deck.

She was struck by a somewhat glittery person, who had just assisted a guest who’d bumped into the horse. Dear me, she’d never seen such sparkliness – except, perhaps, in her diamonds. It was just as well she wore sunglasses, otherwise she might just have been blinded. Georgiana was about to approach the lady, and greet her as she had greeted Fuschia, when she heard a loud thump. She turned towards Marie, who had just fainted dead away.

“Dear me! I say, are you alright?” Georgiana hooked her arm through that of the heap on the ground’s, and hauled her to her feet. For someone with such a slender frame, Georgiana was surprisingly strong. She smiled at Marie once she was back on her feet, and then her eyes widened slightly behind her sunglasses. She immediately removed her shades and took a closer look. Marie Antoinette! She recognised her from her portraits. However, it would be impolite to make too much of it, and she unlinked her arm. “There we are. Headless figures can be quite shocking, can’t they?”

Marie came to with a pounding headache and the strange sensation of being lifted to her feet. She put her hand to her head, shaking it to rid herself of the throbbing. This time she was expecting the headless man, so when she caught sight of him, she only grimaced. Turning to her rescuer, though, she put on a pretty smile and smoothed her dress out, making sure she looked like the vacationing Queen that she was.

"Merci," she said in thanks, keeping her eyes on the young woman instead of the man now a few feet away.

It was unnerving, the feeling of being watched by something that by all means should not have eyes.

"You have no idea."

At least there was not any blood, that would have her running for the door, so to speak. She would just avoid the headless people as much as she could on the trip, and stick to the ones she could actually look in the eye. Head held high, she replaced her skewed sunglasses on her face, trying to look as regal as she could.

"Do you know what is going on here? When I bought passage to France, I wasn't at all expecting such a...diverse group of people to be joining on the trip."

Georgiana smiled back at Marie pleasantly. “You’re quite welcome,” she replied, observing how her new royal acquaintance was doing her best to look away from the headless wonder that stood only a few feet away. “I do sympathize with you. If I had your… delicate history I shouldn’t care too much for headless people either.” As Marie replaced her sunglasses, Georgiana snapped shut her own shades and slipped them into her canvas bag. After all, the sun was not shining too brightly now.

“Indeed, the assortment of guests is quite striking!” she continued. “But I think it’s charming. I think our absent host intends us all to get to know each other. You know, have a little chinwag.” Glancing over her shoulder as discreetly as she could before turning back to Marie, she enquired, delicately, “my dear, forgive me if I seem blunt, but I was under the impression that you were long dead. But how lovely to see you quite alive and well!”

The Horseman has just boarded the ship, when he was aware of a commotion beside him, and heard a derogotary comment about horses being filthy.

As he brushed off his coat sleeves, he turned around with the comment "actually horses are very clean animals and" but he stopped mid sentence when he saw that Eliza had been bumping into fellow guests.

"Eliza!" he shouted. The horse turned around and looked sullen. "I am very sorry" he said to the group, "but she hasn't got her sealegs yet, and the ride here was a long and hard one" he added, unconciously wincing.

He cleared his throat, and with a big smile-that-no-one-could-see he bowed and said. "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Sir Algernon Dagenham, and this" he said pointing to the horse "is Elizabeth Gwendolyn Cartwight Spencer Katharine Moncreiff, or Eliza for short" he added with a chuckle.

"I hope that everyone here arrived safely?" he enquired with a polite question, gazing around at all the faces. He noticed that one women in particular was looking quite pale, natural or not he could not tell, and she seemed to be doing her best to avoid his direction. "Poor Eliza" he thought. "She must not like horses" and he shrugged his shoulders.
