I won't join, but when you get a banner, make sure it says IN HOC SIGNO VICES

Why should it say that Witchy... as far as I remember that is the code the Knights Templar lived by....? Am I all wrong here?

And by the way Anduril, I'm not joining officially either.. though I'll love to check in here once in a while.... good luck with the club!

Ah, I'm afraid we'll have to put this club on hold for a bit --- this club has not been requested to open! So please read the Club Guidelines and get back to me. :)

In Hoc Signo Vices means "in this sign conquer" which makes it perfect for the banner

Umm yeah... Witchy... and the Knights Templar fought for the sign, the True Cross, right?

no, just the cross, the true cross was lost to the muslims in the early days of the templar order

EDIT: It was first used during the decline of Rome, when Constantine the Great had a dream before a major battle about the PX symbol(The greek initials of Jesus Christ). He also saw 'In Hoc Signo Vices' in this sign conquer with it. his soldiers painted it on their shields and had an overwhelming victory the next day.

Hmm... by the True Cross I meant... mmm the cross... I mean the holy symbol of the Christian knights. They fought for the cross and with the cross painted on their shirts.
Anyway, I think we both talk about the same thing now so there is no need to carry on the discussion! And thanks for the additional info!

Hmm.. first sentence I learned in Latin was Puella in cubiculum sedet That's probably why I still remember...

A Latin club isn't a bad idea Anduril, I'm sure people will join, and until they do, I'll be happy to help keeping the thread at the top!

Whoo! I'll join! And yes, in all likely hood this will be nazgulified.
I'm in first year latin and doing surprisingly well!

The banner could also say Semper ubi Sub ubi. Which transalted into english as always where under wear. Its wierd when its written out though. Its much funnier when its said out loud.

Puella est in villa. The girl is in the farm house.

EDIT. I'll ask my Latin teacher what cactus is.
