yeah they're easy to get used to. It's the ous heagear that hooks into them that i ! and...i cheat. I eat so much stuff I'm not supposed to. I cant help it. I m going to have them for quite a while. My jaw is screwed up, so i get to do all sorts of extra junk.

I once ate a frozen chocolate bar and my band in the back unsnapped and totally just broke. I had to be rushed to the ortho's office that day cuz it wud have cut through my cheek if I'd tried to leave it for the night.

And when they asked how it happened u just said, "Oh, it was defective...my little sister did it!"

I make a point to avoid telling them what I eat that Im not supposed to. I once passed gum wrapped around one of my hooks as floss. lol.

I have them off now, but I was a good little girl during the time of torture. :innocent:

But seriously, my heart goes out to you guys. As you see though, I am not a ghost, people DO survive braces. *Pats everyone on the back*

EDIT: May I join? :D I'd love to pass on some advice and sympathies to you all!

i''ll join--i should be getting my braces off this summer, i've had them for 3 years... they hurt after adjustments

i eat everything im not as well and i chew gum almost everyday :P we're terrible, but i dont think anyone could survive 3 years without twizlers and starburst and mars bars and gummi worms and gum and choco chips and all that other good stuff

^You're definitely an acception...3 years? :blink:

Well, you know how orthodontists tell you to swish with salt water whenever you get soars on the insides of your cheeks or on your tongue or something? That's the baby way of doing it, and will take so much longer to heal. :teehee: Just lick your finger, stick some salt to it, and apply directly to the wound. Yeah, it hurts, but by the next morning it'll almost be completely healed. :D Always works like that for me.

Oh, and when they're being tightened, really try your hardest to stay relaxed. Whenever they strapped on a thicker wire and tightened me up a few inches, I felt like one of my teeth was going to pop out. Seriously, I was sweating and almost shaking -- it was awful. But later on, I would grab one of my fingers with the other hand as tightly as I could, and then relax everything around my mouth...I think it helped a bit...

Yeah, so there's seminar 1. :D

^^lol i cant wait to see potc2 i havent seen it yet and everyone is hinting spoilers and i dont know that im reading a spoiler until i read it and im like noo!! cuz something was mentioned about a dead pirate --dont tell me who it is or if anyone dies at all

^yea-its cuz i ddnt wear my rubber bands everyday, i know, i know terrible *bows head* i have a really bad memory though, so i forget things really easily and i have trouble memorizing things as well--i would always forget i had braces and that i had rubber bands to change

Hey can I join. I have had my braces on since I was 9 years old. I dont know why, my teeth had a long way to go. I wear a headset at night although I never wear it. Its not confortable to sleep with. However, I have to cause they are threatening me. Though I got back at them when I wrote a creative speech on them.
