I'm pretty sure there isn't a topic for this yet. I really can't wait until the movie comes out!

Here are some pictures from the movie:

*Is insanely excited* Pullman was really involved with the production, down to giving the director a list of who he wanted to play who. It should be great!

Gah. I'm undecided about this. His Dark Materials...:notworthy: Nicole Kidman. Nuh-uh. Not in my book. But...we'll see. If Pullman was really involved in the making, I may have to give it a chance. Gah...I just don't know.

I read an article saying that Pullman requested Nicole Kidman for the part...

Also, Sam Elliott is Lee Scoresby (YAY!) and Daniel Craig is Lord Asriel (DOUBLE YAY!), plus Adam Godley (Mr. Teavee in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) is the voice of Pantalaimon!w00t!

*Dies from excitement* If you ask me they've done a great job casting.

Her name is Dakota Blue Richards. I think she looks perfect for the part! She's exactly how I pictured Lyra in the books.

Here's a really clear pic of her.

Ahhh! I'm so excited! It comes out December 17th... my friend showed me a site where it said that, but I can't remember what it's called. :confuzzled:

Oooh, it's going to be soooo good! *is majorly excited* :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

The casting... *dies from overexcitement* :explode: :swoon: Daniel Craig, I swear, is the BEST choice for Lord Asriel. I think Nicole Kidman will be great as Mrs Coulter, but I'm still a little irritated at their choice on keeping her hair blonde. :annoyed:

Oh god. *remembers the last time a blond actress played a brunette character and retained her hair color* I hope it doesn't end up anything like Eragon.

Hmmm... I don't know. I didn't really like the books, but I'll probably still see the movie, if only for curiosity's sake :duh: And to see Pantalaimon. Him I liked :P

Mmm....well, it should be interesting. The casting is definately NOT how I saw the characters. Especially Mrs. Coulter and Lyra. I think I can deal with the guy playing Lord Asriel, though. *sigh* OH well, that's always the problem with books being made into movies (with the exception of course being LOTR ;) :P Ha ha ha!).

Last year, one of my friends and I, who are both fanatics of His Dark Materials. She had randomly stumbled upon some news that they were making it into a film...and we kind of freaked. Freaked meaning ridiculously upset. THEN, she found some sort of poll of possible people playing the characters. We kind of had a meltdown...in turn scaring the crap out of my roommate, and hers...(we lived next door to eachother). :P So, I've kind of been against this from the get go...buuuuuuuuuuut, I suppose, I'll have to give it a chance if Pullman was really involved. :P

**** it! New Line wanted the director to drop two major themes in His Dark Materials because it's scared it isn't going to make it in American theaters. A load of rubbish. If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's ok but to someone like me, I'm pretty upset about it. Hopefully New Line will come back to its sense as well as American theaters.

But anyways, I also found out that Rhythm and Hues Studio will be doing visual effects for daemons which is a good thing since they did the visual effects for Narnia and the animals looked really realistic. (Ironic though)

Also there was an interview with Chris Weitz in 2004. Though things could have changed since then, I'm pretty sure it's going to be like Lord of the Rings and have three movies instead of jamming it into two. Also he's hoping for a PG-PG-13 rating.

I hate to break your hopes but Pullman isn't going to be involved with the film. He had only wished some actors to play some roles like Jason Issac for Lord Asriel. But he has visited the studio and is fairly pleased with the movie.

There is an official website out: http://www.goldencompassmovie.com/

For those that want to know what I am upset about in the first paragraph, I suggest you read the books or look into Pullman's background. To be euphemistic, a very well-known establishment in this world is the antagonist.

This is a documented visit of the set:
http://www.bridgetothestars.net/index.php?d=movie&p=setvisit

Hopefully the movie will come out on December 2007 so we won't be expecting a trailer anytime soon.

Typical... :annoyed: Bah! New Line BETTER come to their senses! What two major themes did they want to drop? IDIOTS! And why does my country's film industry have to be so freakin' stupid?! :explode:

Okay, calm down, MB. :P

Ha ha ha! It SO is!! That's crazy. :P HDM and CON are rather...opposites. :P Which is mainly why I liked HDM better. Ha ha ha!

Jason Isaacs as Lord Asriel? Mmmm....not much better than the guy they have now. And believe me, that's hard to say since I'm a HUGE Isaacs fan. :P I don't know...I'll never be satisfied with whoever...but that's my own problem.

Yes, well, actually I like the guy that they have for Asriel. At first I was thinking of Liam Neeson, basing on his role as Ra's al Ghul, but that would have been even more ironic and weird, especially since he was Aslan.

MB, I'm reading an interesting article that talks about Narnia and His Dark Materials. The author is so sarcastic....makes me laugh. I'm also of the same opinion.
