Usually when your car is being bombed, they put the bomb under the driver's seat. The explosion causes your badly burned and probably separated body to go upwards, hence up. And that's why people say "blown up"
Also that guy in the bank "owned" that bank. It was a mob-operated bank, not an official bank. So naturally he was allowed to have that shotgun and question the Joker.

I watched it last night, and it ended at 12:30 AM, so I didn't have a chance to come here and say how awesome it was.
It was awesome. I wish that there had been a bit more screentime for Bruce Wayne, but it was still awesome. The Joker was pretty creepy, too. Though, I'm still at a loss as to why more or less everyone in the cinema laughed at the disappearing pencil. I just found that sort of sadistic. <_<
The acting here was brilliant on all counts, but I wish that they could have had Katie Holmes again. Maggie Gyllenhaal just doesn't look like Rachel, IMHO. Rachel was, once again, the greatest (and practically only) flaw in the movie. For starters, they had a different actress, and then they also radically rewrote the character. That was a bad move, in my opinion. Rachel needed a little bit of alteration, but not rewriting. So, she annoyed me and I couldn't help but be joyful when she died. ^_^
The music was good, too. I can't decide if it was better than the soundtrack for Batman Begins or not. It's like deciding if the soundtrack for TTT was better than the soundtrack for FotR. I'm beginning to think that they're impossible to decide between, as they're so similar and so different. I really love the soundtrack, though. It's got some amazing themes. For those who have it, my favourite tracks are "I'm Not A Hero," "Harvey Two-Face," "Watch the World Burn," and "A Dark Knight." And for the record, I think that having a 16 minute final song is just wicked.

Finaaaaally got to see it today *glowers at marketing*
Really fantastic film. It was, despite my griping, worth the weeks wait to see it.
Heath was amazing. Finally the Joker is acted exactly how he should be. Complete and utterly unhinged.
Aaron was also awesome. I loved watching him portray this beloved, all round great guy to a complete cold hearted lunatic. His fall from grace was, for me, heartbreaking. The effects on his burned and scarred face was astonishing. Exceeded all my expectations. Very disturbing. Tommy Lee who??
Personal highlights:
- The pencil trick. The whole theater just LOL'd
- Joker in the Nurse's uniform
- Rachel's death. Not because I disliked her, but because it was so shocking and so surprising at the time. Though in hindsight it had to be done for both Harvey and Bruce to evolve as characters.
- The opening bank robbery scene. Just brilliant in every way.
- Keeping the background of the Joker a complete mystery. That and his tales of his scars being different everytime.
- Scarecrow cameo. As I'd kept myself away from spoilers and overly detailed reviews I had no idea about this. Was good to see Cillian again even if it was so brief.
I'm sure I've forgotten loads more. But my mind is still reeling.

I saw it this past Wednesday and I have to say that I completely loved the film. I can't wait to watch it again. Heath as the Joker was the thing that really amazed me. He completely transform into the Joker.

Watched it a second time and I appreciated it more after... takes some time for me usually
But...
Harvey Dent's burns were interesting and a bit funny actually IMO... because well, the eyeball being perfectly intact was just impossible because an eyeball would dry out without an eyelid and it's interesting how the fire managed to burn around the eyeball and over onto the rest of the half of his face. His teeth were also perfectly intact (no chips, no burns, anything) which was really weird. Also, exposed and non-bandaged wounds/burns that severe would infect faster than wildfire and a normal person have died from them anyway so... yes.
Other than that unrealistic bit, it was a good film.

^well, if you can accept that a man could reasonably don a bat costume and try to save a city and a psychotic "clown" determined to wreak havoc for the heck of it, Two-Face could be perfectly realistic. =)

It's just biologically strange to me is all... I mean fine, I'll give him the oddly non-infected burnt flesh but the eyeball and the teeth?

If they made it too realistic, it would have been REALLY disturbing, wouldn't it? If he looked like he really burned away half his face, I would have been TERRIFIED and VERY grossed out. Since they did it the way they did, I was just intrigued and managed to watch the scenes he was in without being distracted.

At least I would have been convinced... and I'm not saying that they should have made the burns more realistic to scare everyone, but they should have at least removed his left eye and blackened/chipped/removed some of his left side's teeth. I mean, they were crisp white and his eyeball was somehow able to keep itself moist all the time even though its lid sorta wasn't around anymore.

Okay, I have to agree with you there, Haldir, that Two-Face's CGI was the greatest flaw of the movie, but other than that and Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel, I thought the movie was great.
Of all of the characters, though, I still liked Batman's parts the best. He was still the most interesting character. Yeah, Harvey was cool, and the Joker was too, but Batman's character was fascinating once again. He's so different and so much cooler than any other superhero that's had a movie made about them. I didn't enjoy the Spiderman or Superman movies, but the Batman ones I love. There's a lot more depth to them than to either of the others--a lot that goes on that you can infer from the movies, but that you can specifically see. It's so awesome. I want to watch TDK again.

I went last night. It was perfect. All the script and editing was like not a movie but the real life itself. And Heath was the maestro in the movie. And the quote "Very poor choice of words" totally was the best quote along with the speech of The Batman over the half dead body of Harvey with Gordon was the best scene if you ask me. Heath in nurse suit was funny. By the way, I agree with that make up being disturbing. I think movie should be shown to the kids over at least 16.

Harvey's make up/effects were awesome. Why all the concern over realism in a Comic Book movie? That's just baffling to me as you can only take the realistic tone so far.

Nonononono. I know that he looked pretty cool, but I thought that the CGI was a little sloppy in places--like down the bridge of his nose, it was a little obvious. So from a purely technical point of view, Harvey's CGI was the greatest flaw of the movie.

And that's what I figure too
Well honestly, they should have at least removed the left eyeball and chipped/burnt a few teeth.
