*applauds* Nice review!
Yes, this Bond's got a personality... muffin points for that! I think Casino Royale and and all the rest of the Bond movies are very different. Casino Royale didn't remind me of any other Bond movie... more like a movie like Mission Impossible (the first one) or something like that. To quote... ehh.. myself in my previous post; it wasn't like a Bond movie and that might be the reason I liked it so much

Ohh Gimli, why couldn't you have watched the movie earlier. I'd have loved to discuss it with you, but now I don't remember many details from it... *sigh*
I don't know how to play Poker either, I really wanted to, but haven't found anyone who had thr patience to teach me yet! Also I thought you'd have to know a lot more about Poker to understand the plot or a knowledge about the game would increase the understanding of the plot, but that doesn't seem to be the case (there were actually some mistakes there, like the math weren't correct).
Yeasshh Craig is lovely on the eye and the Bond song by Chriss Cornell lovely for the ear!!! And the shower scene - one of the bestest romantic scenes in a long time - because it didn't get cheesy! Id help add another layer to this really multi-layered character. He'd just been showing off with cold blood and now he shows his emotional side - and I also liked how she (don't remember her name) reacted so 'normal' to what she had just witnessed, even though she had been so cool earlier!
I don't remember how Le Chiffre died, but I do remember I found it strange.. and also the other bad guy (his boss, or his helper... shame on me I don't remember). But I think it showed that the greatest enemy Bond had to fight, was himself.

I know. But my brother only bought the DVD a few weeks ago, and I never got to see it in the cinema. When you watch it again, we can have proper talk, as I'll probably have remembered most things.... hopefully...
Yes, I thought that too. I think all the audience needed to know was, why it was vital Bond won the money from Le Chiffre. I was a bit wary when I saw the poker table as I thought "uh oh, I'll never know what's going on". But it didn't matter as you say, I just enjoyed watching Bond and Le Chiffre size each other up.
It's his eyes. Ice cold blue. The song at the beginning wasn't bad at all, much better than most Bond themes. And huzzah! No silly women dancers for the opening! *throws confetti*
Yes, the shower scene was romantic.... even though at the time no romance had begun! So sweet and just.... nice... it was nice of him to do that. I don't remember her name either! Oh, wait yes I do. Vespar. She was a good character, I liked her. I knew what happened to her though, as my brother told me a while ago. It made it more sad, knowing what would happen to her before it did. If Bond never trusted people before, he certainly won't trust people again. Poor James.
Le Chiffre was shot in the head, when he was torturing Bond. I was a real shock, that that was how he died. I thought it would be Bond that killed him, rather than someone who had just lost their money because of Le Chiffre.
That's a very good point about Bond being his own enemy. I never thought about that before. Maybe, next time he will have learnt to control some of his impulses etc. It's good to think that we are going to see Bond grow as a character. I think it will be interesting to see that.

Yay for no silly woman-dancers!! *cheers* lol
Ohh yeah, Vesper... great character, a good match for Bond. My mind tried to deny the fact that she died... all the way until Bond talked to M about her death, it seemed so unfair. And yeah, I liked the shower scene because it was so asexual.. for once Bond didn't see a woman as (only) a sexual object. He actually respected her. *coughnotafeministcough*
Hmm yeah shot in the head he was... Hmm.. and when Bond was tortured, that was the kind of thing that only men can relate to fully I think. I was like... ohh so it really hurts that much!! hehe.

Nice to see this topic up again!
That was pretty fun, yes, in the theater to hear some men groaning with compassion!
And women were like "Oh please! Do not spoil our Bond!"
A Bond is a woman best friend!

Gosh, you make me wanna watch it again... especially for the opening scene with Parkour. Great and fantastic opening!! Me wants to learneth!! (would never dare!)
Hmm hmmm damsel in distress is the last I'd call miss Vesper! But wow I'd have killed (or rather have witnessed killings) to be comforted by mr. blue eyes in that scene!!!
Hmm.. actually I was beginning to get slightly concerned about Bond's ability to... work his thing again... since the scene just went on and on. Perhaps that's why he never get's any kids... *shifty eyes* But he must be pretty enduring....
Meh, my spelling gets worse and worse.... let me reply to the font colour conversation here in order not to spam the AWE thread more than needed. What font did you use before this sophisticated one?

I'm not a fan of Bond movies, and I only went to see this because my granny asked me to go with her.
I think this is the best Bond movie which I have seen, and I have seen them about ten. This movie wasn't as violent as the others before. Daniel Craig was a good choice. As far as I know, he looks the Bond that Ian Fleming described in his books...

Out of curiosity, has anyone else seen the Casino Royale spoof made quite a while ago, with David Niven, Peter Sellers, and Woody Allen? It's great to watch - and it does actually have some similarity to this one.

I absolutely adore this film! I've been a fan of Bond ever since I was little, and I have to admit I did have my doubts over the casting of Bond, Daniel Craig. But he really surprised me and was not only very hot, but a darn good actor to boot!
I can't wait for the next Bond film to come out - if it's as good as this, I'll be loving it!
And Nurr, no, I haven't seen the spoof, but I've heard a lot about it. I'll have to get hold of a copy sometime.
I agree with JF and Ea, with the point about the shower scene and Vesper. I adored her character and think that Eva Green did a fantastic job playing her. I loved that shower scene too, not only because it was so romantic like JF said, but also because it showed Bond as a human, again, like JF and Ea said.

Nope, haven't seen it, but I'd love to. Do you have a YouTube link or know where I can still watch it?

I thought the original casino royale was a little cheesy. The remake with Daniel Craig is amazing. He is a better bond than i expected him to be. I am just so glad they didn't put colin farrell or jude law in the role. Don't get me wrong they are very good actors, but I just couldn't picture them in that particular role.
What I didn't really like about this film is that the bad guy just wasn't bad enough. Did anyone else get that? I do love the dramatic storyline. Overall great show.

Aww yeah, Daniel Craig seemed just perfect for the role!
Wasn't the bad guy bad enough? I mean he had really bad intentions and he cheated, aye? And didn't they mention the crucial 'world supremacy' thing along with the baddies? Hmm.. don't really remember, but basically that's what makes the bad guys bad in Bond movies, that they want to take over the world one way or the other. And if that's their prime goal in life you can't really blame them for being who they are...
