I know, I'm not sure what I think about this new director thing either, especially with one coming out every year. They're going to have to make them pretty fast to do that, and they'd better be good still. Or I will be mad. Prince Caspian looks like it's going to be just as good as LWW, though - and YES! Ben Barnes looks like he's going to be SUCH a good Caspian.

My favorite would have to be Voyage of the Dawn Treader...Dawn Treader is such a cool name. Are they doing that one next? It would make sense, I think.

Well, the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe in the most famous of all of them. So, that would be the one to start with.. it was the best for the trial run they were doing.

@ Lar, I think it's a good order as far as keeping the actors the right age. Prince Caspian has them a year older and Dawn Treader four years older. And in Horse and His Boy they're all already grown up. So it works.

The actual (and original) order Lewis intended the books to be read in - the order he wrote them in - is:

1. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (book 2 chronologically)
2. Prince Caspian (book 4)
3. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (book 5)
4. The Silver Chair (book 6)
5. The Horse and His Boy (book 3)
6. The Magician's Nephew (book 1)
7. The Last Battle (book 7)

Publishers have arranged them chronologically, when Lewis intended for LWW to be a reader's first entrance into Narnia, and The Magician's Nephew to be a sort of prequel, I believe.

I'd agree with you, JF, a movie per year seems wildly optimistic to me. To get CGI, filming and post-production all done in one year seems a little impossible, though I suppose they could be doing some of the filming simultaneously. After The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which has an older Lucy and Edmund, the next four books don't have any of the younger Pevensies in them at all. The Horse and His Boy has a much older Susan and Edmund (and Peter and Lucy? I don't remember) as queen and king of Narnia and The Last Battle has grown-up Pevensies. The Magician's Nephew and The Silver Chair have no Pevensie kids at all. So I guess it does sort of depend on the movie.

^ That's true, but there are still a lot of characters that overlap. But if they have a limited copyrights, they might not have a choice. Unless they only make about half of them, which is just disappointing. Still, I think I'd rather have three good ones than six bad ones.

There are some overlaps, but I'm pretty sure everything will line up nicely as far as age is concerned. Here are main characters as featured in each of the books [except the first one]:

Prince Caspian: Peter, Susan, Edmund, Lucy, Caspian
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: Edmund, Lucy, Eustace, Caspian grown up
The Silver Chair: Eustace, Jill
The Horse and His Boy: Adult Pevensies, Shasta & Arabis
The Magician's Nephew: Polly & Digory
The Last Battle: Eustace, Jill, everyone grown up

The Last Battle will be hard to film so far after The Silver Chair, though. I wonder if they won't film that one in advance.
