Phoenix: What is the point of releasing films in at different time in different countries? I have never understood that.
Eru: The entire film in shot with handheld camera. If you get motion sick you definitely shouldn't see it.

Thanx for the info! It's not so much about getting motion sick as it's hard to concentrate when you can barely make out what's actually happening. When it's only a few scenes here and there I don't mind but when it's a whole movie.. I just can't focus on the story without getting headaches from all the motion. I have a hard time focusing (not only mentally but visually as well) as it is!
Too bad. I was really looking forward to this film

 That's a shame babe.
Tim: I have no idea. I had to wait weeks to see AVPR too. A lot of the bigger films seem to have worldwide release dates. I'd think most if not all films should be following on this idea, I'd reckon it'd cut down on a lot of the piracy.

Wow, personally, I prefer the name 1-18-08. Cloverfield sounds like a movie about horses or something. It looks neat, and I'm probably going to drag a few friends to go see it.
I'm a bit worried about the hand held camera part. I've never been a huge fan of that format. I guess I can understand that it would make sense, due to the subject matter, but... Oh well.

I really, really dislike shaky cameras, but it might be a pretty cool stylistic choice in the end...adding to the real-story feel and all. I saw the trailer for this before I Am Legend and was totally intrigued. I'm not sure if I'll see it in theaters, but it definitely seems interesting...the whole attack-as-seen-by-the-average-person thing.
(Okay, totally off subject, but I LOVE your LotR avatars Dark. )

I would really like to see this, but I don't know if I want to watch it in a theater. The hand-held camera style on a big screen might be too much for me. Maybe I'll wait and watch it when it comes out on DVD.

That sounds like a good idea Elenya, I'm sure I can handle it a bit better on a smaller screen
(Thanks Rin!)

NO!!!!! (lol) u have to see it in theaters! u know it's just one of those things you don't want to miss. lol sorry i saw this today and it was absolutely amazing! the camera actually isn't too bad, like shaking and stuff. only when they are like running but there isn't too much shaking. i have a little issue with camera-shaking stuff myself, but it didn't bother me at all. i was too focused on what was going on! lol. but yes if you have a chance to see it in theaters, GO! . lol. it's amazing how seriously ppl take these kinds of mystery films. i was looking on the internet for 1-18-08 stuff and ppl were analyzing each and every picture to see if there were any glimpses of an answer or something, but it was funny b/c some of the stuff they "found" has nothing to do with the movie at all! hehe. but it was truly amazing. man i wish i could talk about it but i don't want to give anyting away, since it is a pretty huge mystery. . .even to me. . . .

^I have to agree with her. I've seen it twice, today and Friday, because it just won't have the same effect on a small screen. The shaky camera makes the movie... Without it it wouldn't be half as good.
And most theaters will refund your money if you have to leave because the movie makes you sick.

There was an article in our newspaper about people coming out of the theaters sick. This was in New York, and Chicago and big places, and there were 20 or so people leaving from each showing and theater really sick. And lots of the theaters playing it have started to post signs telling people about the possibility that it'll make you motion sick. Other say it isn't that bad and is like a car on a gravel road.

A friend of mine said he got so sick he threw up afterward, but most people have said that the movie is great and they would love to see it again. The reaction really depends on the individual, I think.

I watched it yesterday and I hated it. It was possibly the worst film I have ever seen... the plot - IMO - was extremely weak, and the ending was extremely abrupt. I didn't like it one bit. It wasn't even half scary
