I think the only 2D classic Disney hasn't touched since it came out on VHS is Oliver & Company...
Oh, no, I'm wrong. Pinocchio, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland, Robin Hood, and The Great Mouse Detective don't have sequels either... More than I thought.

Disney should leave the old classic tales be. Let kids use their own imaginations as to what happens 'afterwards'. I see absolutely nothing positive about doing sequels to Disney movies. It's a big no-no for me

^I'm glad they left Oliver and Company alone. And thats another thing, they always just add '2' behind the title of the movie. Princess Diaries 2, Toy Story 2, etc. Can't they come up with another title after that? At least Pocahontas 2 had 'Journey to a New World' after it. :annoyed2:

Even Dead Man's Chest wasn't that great. The whole PotC Trilogy went downhill from there. :( Disney makes great movies, and really cruddy squels.

I think that the Disney classics are very good too. That's why I agree with ErulissëEnethNîn that it would be better if the most of the movies didn't had sequels. The sequels are rather disappointing,if you ask me...

Well I have to say actually, in Pixar's defence, that they don't produce anymore animated films than 2-D films that Dinsey produced at the height of the company's success. As for sequels, well they have only made one at the moment (although Toy Story 3 is on the way). But my thinking is, it's not a film they made 56 years ago, and they feel like making a sequel to cash in, Toy Story is still a pretty recent film, and Pixar probably genuinely have more story ideas lined up, rather than just making another sequel for the sake of it.

Personally any Disney films made in recent years, I don't have a problem with them making a sequel or two. They may not be very good, but there are a lot of sequels around these days, so why not for cartoons? The three I have seen, were actually not bad at all.

It's when they go back to a 1942 film and make a sequel, that's when the trouble starts. If Disney had wanted to continue with the story, then I'm sure they would have done.

To be completely fair, Return to Never Land was never actually labelled as a "sequel" - it was just called Peter Pan in Return to Never Land.

@Taur:Balto is not a Disney movie, I know, I own it. Mulan is.

I dont see why Disney has to make all of these sequels, they are one of the highest grossing film making companies of all time, they have countless theme parks, cruises and alike around the world. So they must think that people acutally enjoy these sequals, or they are very money starved...

Ok well, I'm a huge Disney fan and I have been since I was little. i love sequels, as long as they come out a year or two after the original. But if the original movie comes out in 1999 and they make a seuqel this year, it doesnt cut it for me. You lose the originality, the look, the voices, the style, everything.

I loved the Lion King when I was little, and even though I was younger, I was appalled that they made 1 1/2 and 2, I thought it was and still is one of the worst moves that Disney has ever made. And the Cinderella sequel is a waste of time.

Disney isnt know for making fabulous live action movies(PotC and a few others being the exceptions), so Disney is the premier cartoon/animated producer of movies. Those fairy tales made them famous, and personally, if they keep making these lame sequels, its going to tarnish their reputation and put a black spot on Walt Disney's original idea.

I love Pixar movies, they are the best of the best. They use original ideas, and amazing techniques to carry them out. I really dont have a problem with them.
