I blame you guys for this. You talked me into it. I've been watching it all day!!! lol. I'm joking. but I have been watching it way too much. I barely ever watch tv so when I find something I like I watch a lot of it. I wish they'd leave the swearing out though... really, is it necessary? What's the point? That's my only complaint about the show... Other than that it's really good.

Also, apparently I missed the fact that he was Jeff in The Eleventh Hour? (Doctor Who) Which just made my day when I found that out. After last night Pericval is my favorite character only because Gwaine's hair isn't quite so fabulous this series. I love how his chain mail has no sleeves to show off his arms, and his main purpose seems to be carrying things (children, wood, Merlin) to show how strong he is. .... Honestly I don't just watch Merlin for the men .....Yep, totally with you. I watch for the .....script. And effects. And plot. Bwahaha, I totally basically watch Merlin for the men. I mean, it's a fun show. I enjoy it. But it really isn't high caliber or anything. Just watched 4x01 and was grateful that the screenwriters did seem to remember the fact that Arthur doesn't really hate Merlin anymore. @Feanor: There's swearing? Is it, like, British swearing? Because I honestly cannot recall this at all. So yeah. I just finished 4x01. And for some reason, I am now all "Santiago, congratulations on your face. It is a nice face." Which is so weird. Because I'm not a big Lancelot person in general, but he just went WHAM in this episode and I felt very protective of his well being. And it was cruel of Gwen to come and ask him to look out after Arthur. Why Gwen, whyyyy???

I share exactly the same sentiment Nurr!! The writing in general isn't at as higher standard as say Doctor who or Robin hood. Sometimes I find it unnecessarily annoying (e.g the troll episodes) because they try to be humorous, but it's just cringe-worthy. Or the plots are super super predictable. Really all we want to see apart from the lovely men is stuff in the legends happening, though after the end of last series there has been a dramatic improvement on that! Also I wish there was less of the Dragon- because it's so badly animated, and less of Gaius... because his screen time can be better filled with the attractive people. I thought 4x01 was one of the good episodes, and I liked the 'Funny' moments where they built up tension and then it turned out just to be a goat lol! I'm kinda sad about Morgause as she was pretty fierce, and seeing as next week everything will be sorted her 'gift' didn't make much difference. & I nearly fell off my chair seeing 'old' Merlin in Morgana's dream- hilarious! Nurr: I preferred Santiago in heroes Why did he cut his hair D:? But i've always liked him, he's just come second to Arthur. The Gwen moment was weird, but then i've always been a bit unsure about Gwen/Arthur in the show, cause series one it was all about Gwen and Merlin, then i got the impression that she loved Lancelot and Arthur was almost like a home distraction whilst he wasn't there. And now it's Arthur Arthur Arthur. We know that one day she's gonna run off with Lancelot- so why did she ask him to protect Arthur when Lance will eventually be the man she picks?!?!?!

I know, he had lovely flowing locks! But I like him like this too. But regarding Guinevere/Lancelot, are they going to go that far in the show? I know it's the legend, but how long are they planning on taking it? And would adultery and almost burning at the stake and all the stuff that happens with the fall of Camelot really fit with a kids' show? I personally hope they don't get there, because I've never liked that part of the Arthurian legend. Basically, that's why I dislike Lancelot, and to an extent Guinevere. But this show has made me love them, so I hope they don't destroy them under my nose. Old Merlin was hilarious! I think we were supposed to take it seriously, but it didn't happen. But yeah, I feel like that is sort of wasting Morgause's potential as well.

SPOILERS FOR 4X02 and future S4! spoilers as well, so beware!! While I saw Lancelot's death coming a long, long ways off lol this show does not do subtlety well I'm still surprised that he actually...died. They must bring him back at some point, because, well, it's Lancelot. It really seems like jumping the gun to kill him so soon. Also, in one of the S4 promos they show Lancelot and Guinevere kissing, so either Morgana somehow creates a Lancelot lookalike to get Guinevere in trouble, or the show resurrects him. Personally I don't think they're going to go the adultery route, at least not the whole way. But I may be biased. I am loving all the knight interaction we're getting! We're seeing them both as a group and interacting one-on-one with Arthur, showing both their loyalty as a team and their loyalty to the future king. Knights of the Round Table, indeed. That said, they're totally pushing Gwaine as comic relief and it's over the top and annoying. Morgana, you are worst assassin ever. I'm sorry, but you are the worst. What was the point of Agravaine inviting Guinevere to his chambers? So that it would be dark when she left? She normally works from sunrise to sunset anyways. And then to just hope that the ghost things would get her... To be honest, I'm ticked off at the way the writers have handled Morgana's journey to the dark side and her character now that she's officially evil. I just think she could have been so much more; to show her hating Uther and trying to bring him down, while knowing and struggling with the fact that Arthur and Guinevere are different, and do love her; but Arthur is still going to support Uther and Guinevere is still going to support Arthur. It would have been so fascinating to see that complexity, instead of suddenly 'I would rather die than have that maid sit on my throne!!1!' What is the exact meaning of the phrase 'two sides of the same coin'? I see it applied to Arthur and Merlin all the time, but really, I feel like it describes Uther and Morgana perfectly. They're both tyrants, they just hate different people. I find it endlessly fascinating that in trying to overthrow Uther, Morgana has really become just like him. I just hate the way the writers are...well, writing her. Okay, that was super disjointed and unorganized, but it's late and I'm tired. Colin Morgan needs to win all the awards. His face, you guys. HIS FACE. Guinevere is going to be a stunning queen. Guinevere, who tucks blankets around the man who murdered her father, who has the courage to stand in front of a council of nobles and tell them that she, a servant, knows more about what their Prince wants and about what's best for Camelot than they. Guinevere, who is brutally honest with everybody because she simply doesn't know how to be anything else. I love you, bb. Never change. I do wish, though, that instead of pushing the prince/servant dynamic as the main obstacle to the relationship, they would focus more on the fact that Guinevere is falling in love with the son of the man who killed her father. That is a much bigger obstacle IMO. TL;DR: I love everybody in this show but I hate the writers.

Minuialwen wrote: TL;DR: I love everybody in this show but I hate the writers. THIS. Re Lancelot, there's a dark haired figure in the promo's rising *shirtless* out of the water and we don't see his face. The hair is too short to be Gwaine, and he's too muscled to be Merlin so I am betting the water spirits or whatever decide to revive Lancelot. He's so not dead forever-Leon has died a hundred Zillion times but he's still alive. I don't either think that they are going to go the whole way with the Guinevere leaves Arthur for Lancelot story line, but I think it will be important that it appears as if she does have equally strong feelings for both, as I assume the Whole series will end when Magic is allowed and Arthur becomes king (s5 is the last one apparently). I felt her 'Protect Arthur' comment was nicely balanced at the end of the last ep where she was obviously distraught over Lancelot's 'death'. In other news, Knights covered in Jam!

Don't worry, they'll make more Anyone knows when Season 5 comes out? Cos I heard they don't want it to clash with DW's 50th anniversary, which is gonna be Autumn of this year...

I actually haven't seen season four yet. My online source (Netflix) doesn't have it.
(I have also not seen season six of Doctor Who.)

You can try searching for websites that allow you to stream the episodes for free, I think most of these sites have Merlin links, and Doctor Who too
