Okay... I haven't read what you all have been saying... I've been keeping away from spoilers until I watched it. Which I did a few hours ago... and all I have to say is: It was awesome!
I could quote the joker all day! Ledger as the Joker was awesome! Too bad he died...(or so I've heard)
Joker in the nurse suite was just hillariouse! Me and my friends were luaghing many times! It was great. Batman's voice is awesome! How does he change it from Wayne to Batman? just out of utter control of his voice? It almost sounds like his mask is choking him... but it's still cool!
The the motorcycle out of the bat mobile was awesome! Okay, I'm not that big of a batman fan. I know the villans, and stuff, so if I say anything wrong, I'm sorry.
But, two face was cool. Too bad his time being two face didn't last very long... it lasted what, a few days? It's hard to tell how much time goes on between things in movies.
And... is it just me, or did the Joker keep changing his story on how he got the scars?
And have to comment on the soundtrack! It was awesome!

I loved The Dark Knight! I just loved it! I watched it about eight times or so.
The Joker was GREAT performed (R.I.P. Heath. You will be missed )
I never laughed so hard during a movie. (Especially the part when Joker blows up the hospital...first he's pressing the buttons and all like "Huh...why isn't it blowing up?" and then BANG! Big Boom!
I couldn't stop laughing during that scene, everyone was already staring at me and my brother had to hit me so I would stop laughing...it hurt...I nearly fell off my chair, but it helped.

I just saw The Dark Knight last night at home. My dad rented it from a video store. I'd have loved to see it in a theatre, but seeing it, even the way I did, was better than not seeing it at all 8). All I have to say is WOW! Every performance, not just Heath's, was top notch . I'm curious, though, about what fans of the comic book series thought of what the Nolans did with Harvey/Two-Face. I've never read the comics, but I'm assuming Two-Face appears more than once as an antagonist for Batman? And truthfully, he actually wasn't one in this, just a good man who'd been manipulated by the Joker and driven mad by the trauma he'd experienced, kind of a tragic character, really.
gollum13- Quote: The Joker was GREAT performed (R.I.P. Heath. You will be missed ) That he was . I know I said all the actors did a great job (and they did), but Heath's Joker was especially a standout. I don't know who could possibly fill his shoes, should the Joker appear in another Batman movie =(. Eruraina- Quote: And... is it just me, or did the Joker keep changing his story on how he got the scars? I noticed that too, I'm not sure what the deal was .
Lady of Taniquetil- I'm guessing, because he told the story about his father more than once (I think), that was the truth; the changes he made when he told it to Rachel might just have been a way to manipulate her.

Lady of Taniquetil, neither might be true--the reason that the Joker gave two different stories was because the director's didn't want us to sympathise with him about either, since he's obviously lying about at least one of them--the Joker is definitely not a character to be sympathetic to, so they presented the notion in the movie that he got his scars because of a completely different reason alltogether.

There are lots of backgrounds given for the Joker in the original comics. In the graphic novel The Killing Joke (one of the books that they gave Ledger as inspiration for his character), the Joker says "Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another... if I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice." So like Reindeer said, it's highly likely that neither was entirely true. The wife story more closely resembled the others told, but Nolan hasn't exactly been rigid about sticking to the comics, so that doesn't really mean anything.
In other news, my brother and I are watching both Begins and Dark Knight tonight as our nerdy way of ringing in the new year.

Lady of Taniquetil- No problem 8)! Like I said in my original post, because he told it more often, the one about his dad is probably more or less the truth. Still, Aerandir makes a good point. **Pokes Aerandir's post**
Aerandir- Hmmm..., good point . That may have been what it was. I'd be curious to hear what the Nolans have to say about the decision 8).
POTR- Hey there ! That's interesting- I may have to look into those one of these days .

Oooh, that sounds awesome, PotR. I wish I had done that--our copy of TDK didn't get here until three days ago, though. <_< Kind of weird.

Oh... so would I!
And, btw, I was very happy to hear Heath Leger won a Golden Globe for best supporting actor.

@Ms JF: You took the words right out of my mouth, m'dear. With him, either one or neither could've been true, which is great. And I too would really have loved to know the story he was going to tell teh Batman.
@TT: REALLY? OH that's brilliant. I'm so glad he was recognized for that role. Maybe it'll carry on and I'd be happy if he at least got an Oscar nod. Because he was so damn epic. *siiigh*

Yes, I was very happy.
Inititally, I was annoyed last year when the guy had not been dead a week and people were already proclaiming him an Oscar winner - before the film had even been seen - and that was kinda like what the heck?!
But truly, truly when I watched The Dark Knight his performance was not enhanced by the fact he was dead he was just awesome, and only now and then did I find myself coming out of my Batman zone and thinking sadly that it was a shame he would never know how much people loved him in it - so I for one, can say I believe he deserved to win the Golden Globe because he was amazing and not because I felt sorry for him.
And I hope that any naysayers don't even dare to start saying "he only won because he's dead".
He won because he proved so many people wrong about whether he could play the Joker - by stealing the film with such a remarkable performance.

Yup. I think he deserved that without question. Oh, be better at least get nominated. Because he was so amazing in that role... he better or else.
