7x23 The Good, the Bad, and the Dominatrix
Summary Line: Lady Heather and Grissom's worlds collide again when she is found near death after a private rendezvous with a sadistic client. Original airdate: 5/10/07
Cold Opener
I was actually kind of hoping that Lady Heather would die at this beginning because well... y'know. I'm a true GSR shipper. Anytone in the possible way of that must be kidnapped and locked in a closet. Loved Brass's canon anti-Lady Heather though. xD No wonder why everyone loves him. He's just like one of US!!!! [giggles] Have I mentioned I love Brass?
The Case
Okay, so Lady Heather was meeting a client and she's found almost strangled to death and she's not talking about who it was. Great. That just made it a lot harder for Grissom to help her and for us to figure out how did it to her. Doesn't she know SHE'S the victim? The whole Dominatrix/Submissive just gets to me sometimes.
MCSK Side-Story
EEEEEEEE!!!! I'm absolutely LOVING how they keep touching back on the MCSK thing despite the fact that it's not the A or B case, it's more like the M ... SCK case. >.> Yeah. Well, anyways. Greggo's looking up any known foster-children of Ernie Dells and good grief, it's so exciting!!!
The Pummel of GSR
It all starts off with Catherine. Thank you, Catherine. Thank you SO MUCH for this wonderful night of GSR-smashing. We can always count on you.
Sara: What is she like?
Catherine: Beautiful. Smart. Intense. Charming. The only woman I've ever seen rattle Grissom. I mean. He kinda liked that forensic anthropologist. Terri Miller, remember her?
Sara: Yeah.
Catherine: But, she wasn't enough of a challenge for him. Heather, on the other hand. Uninhibited. And can beat him at mental chess? They had chemistry and he is a scientist. I have no proof and I know he'd never tell me, but I'm certain they spent the night together. Wonder which one lowered the chaps.
Sara: (awkwardly) Lots of coins and toothpicks. They don't sweep under here.
Catherine: I mean, more power to him really to find somebody outside of work. 'Cause you start fishing from the company pier --- asking for trouble.
Sara: (continues processing the scene awkwardly) I've got a shotglass. Looks like there's some lipstick around the rim.
Catherine: My fantasy does not include costumes. Or pain. And certainly not sawdust. You?
Sara: ......
Next GSR scene: Crime Lab. Grissom asks Sara about the case.
Grissom: Any results on Heather Kessler?
Sara: So far, all the prints come back to her.... play a piano, whiskey bottle, shot glass. There was some lipstick around the rim. I haven't had the chance to test it. You think it's her shade? (Sara gives him this sly look)
Grissom: (eyebrow raise) Heather's not supposed to drink because of her diabetes. Which explains the hypoglycemia and shock....
This part gets me. I mean, Sara's right on the case but she's making it clear that she might be teasing him about what she hears but it's nothing personal. Nothing earth-shattering. But as the conversation goes on. When Grissom talks about Lady Heather, it's clearly personal that he's concerned about her and Sara sees his concern and she may be starting to feel jealous and perhaps neglected. I mean, wouldn't you? I would!
Lady Heather: I was here.
Brass: Could anyone verify that? Someone preferably not on the pay roll?
Lady Heather: (looking over Brass's shoulder) Captain Brass would like to know if I was here last night.
Grissom: (comes into the room) She was here. With me.
[ded] NOOOOO, GRISSOM!!!! HOW COULD YOU?! [cries] Why could you possibly be doing there ALL NIGHT?!
Next scene, Catherine and Mandy leave the layout room and Grissom comes in. Sara tells him flat out, "We may have a suspect." Grissom obviously doesn't want to talk about that. He says, flat out. "I'm the only one Heather trusts." Which .... y'know.... might've been the worst possible thing to say to your girlfriend at that moment since she's probably heard of why you weren't home last night. Yeah. Sara grinds out this amazing, "I get it." with this look of irritation that she's trying so hard to stay professional and not jump at his throat. She's trying so hard to move past this because Sara doesn't want this happening to them because she loves the idea of them right now.
Grissom: Sara...
Sara: Yeah?
Long pause. Grissom stands there just thinking of what to say and I know Sara's got that hopeful look of, "Please redeem yourself and reassure me that Heather's just a friend and that you love me." Nope.
Sara: It's fine. Do what you need to do.
Sara walks out of the layout room leaving Grissom to ponder his own stupidity.
Jorja Fox could not have played that out any better.
Next GSR-pummeling scene.
Heather opens the door to her house to see a very giddy Grissom and she says, "Leave me alone. I didn't ask you to save me." I heart went out to her. From that moment, I forgave Heather for all that she's done to take Grissom away from Sara. She's been degraded to such a shell after her daughter's death that it's so jarring how much it changes people.
When Grissom said, "Besides, there's someone I want you to meet." I was hoping to God and praying and screaming that it was Sara that he wanted to formally introduce, because Grissom always preaches that they're friends so it has to go both ways, maybe he wants her to see positives of his own life despite their past together.
Well, I was wrong. Grissom led Heather's ex and her granddaughter to her. And admittedly, it was such a touching moment . Hated the hand-hold but whatever! ARGH.
How awesome would it have been if not only was the ex and the granddaughter there but Sara standing next to them, having she and Grissom acting like a guide for these two to come together to celebrate life and not death. ARGH. [cries]
General ++'s
-------- Jorja Fox's excellent acting. Man, Sara was the epitome of professional in this episode which I actually did expect because she never really crosses the professional border when it came to her own relationships. Her own personal problems with cases, yes, but not her relationships.
-------- B Case was pretty good and it just screamed season 1 and 2. I totally miss season 1 and 2. Okay, only season 2. I have season 1.
-------- We only see Sofia like.... twice. xD YAY!!!
-------- More MCSK-continuity. Grissom building his mini-crime scene.
-------- Brass-love. He's such a GSR-shipper. xD He's pounding on LH like WOAH.
-------- Sara / Lady Heather meeting-bond. Sara's .... such a great person. Despite knowing LH's profession & her connection with Grissom, she's seeing her as a battered woman from almost getting strangled to death.
-------- The look on Grissom's face when he sees Sara's in the same room with Lady Heather. The best expression in season 07 yet from WP.
-------- Hodges sucking up to Nick. "Some people are just destined for greatness."
-------- Taxi-dispatcher lady thought Warrick & Nick were strippers. [rolls on the floor laughing]
-------- BRASS SO TOTALLY KNOWS ABOUT SARA AND GRISSOM. HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!
-------- Hodges throwing empty bottles around the lab. I don't know why I find that so funny. xD
-------- Is it me, or is Sara basically the only person really processing and interpeting the evidence. Catherine and Brass are doing the gosspi/philosophical side of the case. Grissom was doing the emotional/personal side to the case and Sara was doing the subject/objective side of the case. It's actually really interesting.
-------- Catherine calling Grissom on his hypocrisy.
-------- Judy. OMG, JUDY WE'VE MISSED YOU SO MUCH. That cute thumbs up! Oh gosh and the look on Grissom's face.
-------- Lady Heather's ex is HOT. >.> Which makes sense, because they would make an incredibly beautiful couple.
-------- Allison (Heather's granddaughter) hands Grissom her bottle to hold for her and OMG, IT WAS SO CUTE. I WANT GEEK-BABIES. NOW! GRISSOM YOU NEED TO MAKE IT UP TO SARA, SOMEHOW!
-------- Allison's dress is decorated with butterflies. <3 Everyone's a shipper now.
Quirks!
-------- Grissom seems way too anxious to go to Lady Heather when he heard from Catherine. "I'm on my way!"
-------- Loose end with drunk-driver that drove into police officer's car when Nick was processing B-case crime scene. I know it happened to hint vehicle force and movement when two objects collide but.... geez, did they have to go that far? Nick probably had hot-flashes thinking about season 05 Grave Danger. Thank God, aweswome recurring police officer I like to call Joe-Boe was around! =D
-------- Lady Heather's neglecting telling the hospital that she's Diabetic. You should probably tell them.... SOMETIME. You've been in the hospital for more than 24 hours. In between sleep, headache-inducing interviews with Det. Brass, you could always spare 1 minute to tell a Nurse nearby, "Oh btw. I'm kind of a Diabetic. You know, the kind of disease where my pancreas doesn't give me enough insulin or too much?"
-------- Nick telling the suspect to tell the truth acting like he'd be kind to him and end up saying, "Sorry. I have to arrest you for obstruction." What the fudge, Nick? You're starting to become one of my least favorite characters. Just above Catherine.
Quotable Quotes:
Grissom: I have to pull you off of this. Days is down to four CSIs. You're on loan-out.
Greg: Why can't Days keep anybody?
Grissom: Money, stress, Ecklie maybe?
Warrick: They left her purse. Oh. Thing's heavier than my kit. Ever get hit on the head with one of these?
Nick: No, gentlemen don't get hit on the head with those.
Sara: Hi. I'm with the Crime Lab. Sara Sidle. I'm here to collect your clothes and trace evidence from your body.
Lady Heather: Can I say no?
Sara: Why would you want to? Did the Nurse forget to collect an SIE kit?
Lady Heather: Not necessary.
Lady Heather: I don't respond well to men who judge me solely based on my profession.
Sara: I get that alot too. Law enforcement.
Hodges: If I had a yellow car, I'd paint over it too.
Random Taxi Driver: Did you know that Las Vegas is not the capitol of Nevada?
Nick: .... Thanks for the info, guys.
Brass: Y'know, I should've checked if he was wearing underwear.
Catherine: Okay, c'mon Jim. Give it up. I know you know something about Grissom and Lady Heather.
Brass: I know something a lot juicier than Grissom and Lady----
OMG. OMG. OMGOM OMG. BRASS KNOWS, BRASS KNOWS, BRASS KNOWS.
Brass: And we all know how she likes to settle her own scores. I'll get a warrant but it may take me a while to find a judge who hasn't been a client of hers.
Nick: The paint chips found in the street... are not a match to the paint chips found in her skull. Are you sure about this?
Hodges: I just finished a diabolical sudoku in 6 minutes flat. I'm positive.
Warrick: How small are we talking?
Nick: 75
Warrick: Paint samples from 75 cabs? We'll be back in the lab by next week.
