Ooo, I'll be looking forward to reading it, pirateoftherings. A whole essay on the greatness of each character? wow *awe and admiration :notworthy: *

Pirateoftherings, Oh I can not wait to read that! I am sure that it will be a great read. :-D
I would not take any of the characters from Pirates of the Caribbean out either. However I do not like all of the characters from Pirates of the Caribbean. I think that you have to have some characters that you dislike/hate or love to hate. It would be very difficult to have a movie with only "heros" after all. So as long as the character(s) leave you with some feeling, I think that they are usaly a nice addition to the cast. :-D

@ DD -I can see what you mean. I would presume Jack met Tia Dalma when he needed her help or something, but other than that I don't thinkl I really want to know the nature of how they met or "got together". I think leaving that up to the imagination of the viewer was probably the best option.

No me neither. All I could think of was "you killed Norrie". :annoyed:

-----------------------------

@ Tarquende - I think the thind the bothered me most, was the fact there was no way in a cats tail that was the same dog. It was too small and the wrong colour. If they had even tried to get the same dog back, or one of a similar size and colour, I might have been able to along with it. Yeah... that quote was weird. Didn't seem to work in my opinion.

That's a good point about Norrington. He did really try not to show how much he cared, but he gave himself away when we saw the way he looked and Will and Elizabeth when they kissed on the beach.
---------------------------------

@ Pirates' Destiny - Hmm.. well if Bootstrap had never looked in the brig, no-one would know who or how Elizabeth and the crew escaped. Or if he had gone with Elizabeth to fight on their side, Beckett would never have got to him to punish him.

----------------------------

@ M.G - Which list m'dear? :-)

-----------------------------

@ Darky - Well you do speak mucho senso there. I have to agree with you when you say they are the two stiffest actors in the trilogy. I cannot deny that. I'm not totally in love with Will and Elizabeth but neither do I hate them. For me, they're just not good enough for me tp place them in my Teop Five Characters because they don't entertain me enough or make me feel for them as much as the characters in my list. Now, obviously they would be in my Top Ten, as I would have to be pretty heartless to rate the parrot above them both. :P Too true about Elizabeth as well. Although, I'm glad she didn't marry him as she would have made him unhappy and she doesn't deserve him anyway.

Yes, and what happened to Davy Jones was mainly Calypso's fault, but I suppose she did have a point when she said "it's my nature". The Goddess of the Sea is probably not going to always keep appointments as the sea is untameable and wild. Hvaing said that.. it was him failing to do his duty that made him become all tentacly, but then again that does stem back to Calypso.

yeah, I know. And I could so see him joining them and fighting for the right cause.... if only he had had the chance :disgust:

By the way I was watching CotBP and I was wondering just what kind of monkey is Jack (the monkey, of course)? He's one of the cutest monkeys I've ever seen!

Everytime I see PotC I always want a monkey. :teehee: It would be so awesome to have an adorable monkey as a pet! *cuddles Jack the Monkey * By far he's my favorite animal movie character! :D
[/obsession] :P

*cough* Anyway....

Well, I don't mind the nobleness. And I agree, everything degraded from the first movie anyway. But I couldn't help but laugh when Jack was pacing around: "Think like Will, think like Will..." And as for them not caring who their actions affect, I can agree with that. That especially bugged me in AWE. That's why I looove one quote of Norrington's from the first movie: "By remembering I serve others, Mr. Sparrow, not only myself."

Hmm, I hadn't noticed that. It's very sad that those who are selfish and self-centered always seem to get farthest in life... like corporate company owners, some politicians, some actors... there's a quote from Tom Hanks I read awhile ago, "I do not want to admit to the world that I can be a bad person. It is just that I don't want anyone to have false expectations. Movie-making is a harsh, volatile business, and unless you can be ruthless too, there's a good chance that you are going to disappear off the scene pretty quickly. So appearances can be deceptive, particularly in Hollywood."
Anyway, I'm not going to get into all that.

Okay, y'all are asking for it (kinda...mostly I just want an excuse). I don't have time to do it right now, and by the time I finished it would be way off-topic already, but later I'm going to post my list/essay on what makes every single character in PotC amazing, from Captain Jack himself all the way down to Mercer. They're all my favorites; I may have two or ten that I enjoy fractionally more than others, but there is not a single character I would want left out of PotC. So, here's your warning now that there shall be a PotR post to rival all others coming later. :teehee:

Ooo, that sounds great! I can't wait to read it! :bounce:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that quote was a little pointless. :) I thought the dog looked a little different too, but I assumed that there are many ways a dog could look different. They probably cleaned him up, and there was different lighting, and all that... then again, I didn't bother to look all that closely. I'll make a note of it when I get the DVD. :D

Yes, it was very sad to watch Norrington during that. I always got the sense his leisurely indifference to Elizabeth was just an act. :( I liked how she started calling him James in the second one, though.

@ Taurquende - Well as I said, the dog was way too small and not grizzled enough. But as you said, you can check that when you get the DVD. ;)

Yes, it was just an act. Seeing as how he was completely different towards her in AWE. Hmm.. I don't know.. after all she did to him, I'm not quite sure why she started calling him "James". I don't know if she had the right to really.

@ Ánië Súrion - Yes, well... while some of you are waiting for this essay perhaps we could get a conversation with a real subject going? To keep this thread alive I mean. ;)

@ Darky - *pat pat* I know dear, I know.

Does anyone know if the extended AWE soundtrack is on the internet yet? I have the extended score for the first two, so I am looking forward to hearing the full music for AWE.

Erm... my brother got them. I'm not sure where, I'll see if I can find out. :-)Between the two of them, there's about 80 tracks and I also have remixes from the first two films, as well as some choir music from all three.

^ I looked them up on the iTunes store, and I found the remix but not an extended score. :( Google didn't turn anything up, either.
