yeah, that's what's so excting about keith - he's so young that he's still got time to learn and grow, and he could really be something special.
even after joseph is over and done, i'll be keeping track of lee and keith's careers and going to see them as often as my budget will allow.

Well if they are all going to appear on the West End, I doubt I will ever get to see them. I've never been to London, so unless they tour and end up in Liverpool I doubt I shall.
I hope they do a programme at the end of the year like they did with Maria, so people get a chance to see what they are all up to now.

i saw cats on tour too - in birmingham. i thought it was fantastic, but i wish someone had warned me about the cats coming out into the audience - i was sat at the end of the row, three rows from the front, so i got attacked by the campest male dancer i've ever seen. he was leaning right over me about an inch from my face. it was terrifying!

lee was so amazing tonight. he can do intense and powerful like no one else in that competition; and he's clearly the most versatile, both vocally and performance-wise. he hasn't got a typical musical theatre voice, but i think that works in his favour as it makes him more interesting.
keith backslid a little tonight - his vocal was fine, but his performance was bland and he didn't work well with the dancer; ben was actually quite good, but needs knocking down a peg or two because he's so arrogant; and craig and lewis were as forgettable as ever.
daniel leaving was a bit of a shock - i've never been that keen on him (i think john hit the nail on the head with beige) and i still don't think he'd be right for joseph, but he didn't deserve to go yet. his performance in the sing off was fantastic.

I don't know. Whenever people sing a Frank Sinatra or Elvis Presley song, they always tend to try and imitate or else turn out like a cabaret singer. I think Ben was doing both. When you've got a song that has a beat and requires dancing, and the audience get clapping and having a good time, I think people sometimes forget to actually see if the person is singing the song well.
Well personally I don't think there is anyone right for Jospeh - last year I knew Connie was Maria, it just screamed out at me. Maybe because I am not familar with the role, and I'm just going by on what other people have said, but there doesn't seem to be anyone who has the look or the talent, exactly matching what the character calls for. Lee will win it I'm sure, but whether that means he is going to be a convincing Joseph I don't know, just like I don't know if any of the others would be convincing.
Keith will never be Joseph, but with that voice, the West End will be scarmbling to get him. Craig I also like, he's not right for Jospeph but there will be plenty of other roles. Daniel had a really strong, almost operatic voice so I'm sure he will do really well. As for Lewis he has a good voice, but because he has the "pretty boy" look he's really going to have to prove to people that he can really act and sing and he's not just trying and coast along on his looks.

i've just been rewatching some of lee's performances on youtube (wasn't he incredible on saturday? i'd kill to have him sing to me) so i thought i'd revive this.
i don't know joseph as well as i know the sound of music, so it's more difficult to say how suitable the guys are for that part in particular, but i honestly believe lee could be convincing as anyone, so i have no doubt that he'd be convincing as joseph. right from the first audition show, he was the one that jumped out at me - the same as with connie.
i'm not sure the west end will be scrambling to get keith yet. he does have a fantastic voice, but that's not enough - he can't move, he can't act, his diction's awful, and he doesn't have a strong enough presence to command the stage. he still has a lot to learn, but he could get there eventually.
what did you think about craig going? i thought it was about time, as he doesn't have the acting ability, the confidence or the stage presence for the west end yet, but i would have preferred it if ben had have gone - i really don't like him, and he's just so obnoxiously arrogant.

^ that's pretty much the reaction me and my sister had.
i was screaming at the telly "get rid of ben! for the love of all that is good, get rid of ben!" so i properly cheered when he said he was saving lewis.
i think i'll join you in dancing.

OH MY GOSH!!!
there are not enough superlatives in the english language to do justice to lee mead.
just hearing the studio audience roar after his performances tells you everything you need to know about him - he was born to be a west end leading man.
great singer, great mover, great performer, and a smile to die for. i'm in love!
if he doesn't win i'll...well, i'll probably cry into my pillow for a fortnight.
edit: HE WON! HE WON! HE WON!
i'm so so happy. he deserves every good thin that's coming to him.

Well just to re-cap over the last few weeks, I think I can say that the three people that were in the final were probably the best, but for all different reasons.
Keith has a magnificant voice, and I think I can say the best out of all of them. I am very proud of him for getting so far and facing all these obstacles and on top of that being an ordinary guy. I think that;s one of the reasons why I warmed up to him, Rob and Craig so much.
Lewis has actually grown on me. His voice is actually quite good and he also has the "looks" to boot.
Lee winning was probably the forgone conclusion, as with Connie. I think it did help that he has had stage experience (and I also believe he has played minor roles in the West End, so he's not just the understudy) and I can't blame people for voting for him because of that, as I'm sure regular theatre goers would want someone with experience to be in a show they are going to see.
I thought everyone sang their songs great tonight BUT I was heartily disappointed with New York New York. What the panel were hearing that I wasn't is beyond me. That is one of my favourite songs ever, and I know it note for note, so to hear it sung in a different key and for Lee to actually get at least 3 words mixed up, was quite incredible. But apart from that, it was a great show tonight. And he sang the finale very well.
It was also great to see all the other Josephs back again, and I look forward to hearing how many of them have made the West End their new home.
