Let me just say that the movie is awesome. Spock and Kirk's combined name should be Spork.

^ I have a piece of flair on facebook that says Spork - OTP. Of course, it has a picture of a spork, so it may not be referencing Star Trek, but it works!

I can't wait for the DVD! Does anybody know if a date has been set for its release?

I was disappointed that I didn't get to see it in the IMAX theatre. When I finally thought to look at the IMAX schedule, it was the last night that ST was playing, and though I was tempted to go to the last showing of the night (at 11 pm), I didn't. :(

It was Zach (and maybe Chris) that came up with the name Spork if I remember rightly.
I also actually seen an official Star Trek Spork. I was blown away by the awesome.

BEHOLD!

I'd have loved to have seen it on IMAX too. But my nearest IMAX is miles away and would have cost me a small fortune to get there and back.

There's no release date yet for the dvd/blu-ray but I imagine it'll be released before the end of the year.

Yep it was. Also the first on-screen interracial kiss was also supposed to be Spock/Uhura, but apparently William Shatner decided it should be Kirk to do it :eyeroll: So yeah no problem with it at all, because now in this less conservative time you can have that without much fuss. It was also fun to see Kirk NOT get the girl for a change XD

Huh, I did not know that. :P thank you for enlightening me. And that (and the fact that Kirk didn’t get the girl ;)) does make it a little better… though for sure it’s not my favorite part in the movie by any means.

You know, Aerandir brought up the green girl so I just have to say taht I showed my brother a picture of her and she freaked him out too. ;)

And on YouTube I found CBS’ whatever-you-call-it (channel, I think :P)and you can watch full episodes of TOS there so… I’ve done that once. :P to my knowledge none of our retarded channels play any of the ST stuff anymore so that's about my only option (besides buying them... which I hardly have the money for! lol)

Lol, Phoenix--the Orion might be very seductive and all, but I just can't get past the leaf-green sin in combination with the red Cadet uniform. >_<

I have, in the past, hated all things Star Trek for being too cheesy and predictable, with one exception--Voyager was really, really good, IMHO. I actually like that one, whereas I detest TOS and TNG. I've not seen DS9 or Enterprise, though. But...I love this movie. :D

I found the full episodes of TOS on youtube, as well. It made me happy.

Enterprise comes on the Sci-Fi channel... I've seen that on a few times in the afternoon, though I haven't watched it. Apparently, thus far, I'm only a TOS somewhat-Trekkie.

I saw 'The Trouble With Tribbles' on the CW channel (KNVA) at like 1 am on a Saturday morning or something.

I'm not a guy, obviously, but I don't really understand the fascination with the Orion girls. They have... green skin. That's just weird.

ETA: Funniest thing I've seen in a LONG time. There's profanity, fyi.:

Star Trek is a top-notch movie in my opinion. Being an original trekkie, I was skeptical of Abrams pulling this off. But pull it off he did! He made a movie that could appeal to non-trekkies, while throwing in some humour that only trekkies would get. I will buy the DVD and watch it a few times. And its great that the franchise has been "re-born" with a new timeline. It was something they got from an episode of Deep Space Nine when they went back to the 'Tribbles' original series show with some darn good editing. I was quite happy how this turned out.

I was never a trekkie, something to do with age and thinking it was weird I think. But that movie was great, I saw it on IMAX for my first time just about a week ago. I also thought the green skin was kind of weird...but...whatever...I suppose they can have whatever taste they like, and I suppose it would be much more...normal in a place where they're used to other races...planet wise...species? Whatever. But again, it was an *amazing* movie, I was wide awake the entire time, unlike many of the people I saw it with who apparently fell asleep. Watching it on IMAX with the sound blasting, they fell asleep. WTP??? Anyways.

Ah.. green skinned Orion girls! That is about as original trekkie as you can get. The original pilot with Jeffery Hunter as Captain Pike had one dancing.

"Its a nice place you have here Mr Pike..."

Hahaha yeah I guess you're right. You know what's really sad though? I didn't even notice it was actually Karl Urban until I was browing around on Memory-Alpha or whatever it's called. I mean, he looked kind of familiar, but I didn't make the connection.... *smacks self*.
