Oh yes, I totally wanna see this movie.
Since at world's end is over I've been dying for a new pirates film I wonder if they're going to keep the series of movies going.

Like I told PD on the phone, I'm not really sure if it's such a great idea. I mean, we've already had the Barbossa/Jack friends/enemies plotline throughout all three movies, and even to the most zealous of Pirates fans, it gets tiring. If they're able to bring in a new conflict with interesting characters and something diverse from the other movies, I think it'll be all right.
Johnny Depp is wonderful, and I hate to say it but honestly, his role as Jack is getting tiring - there ARE other pirates out there, you know, whose stories are waiting to be told.
IDK, I'll be seeing it for sure and only then will I have a definite opinion on it. For now, I'm not too excited at the prospect of another, but if they can make it work somehow, go for it.

I agree with Aramel. Jack's a grand character, most likely to live on in history, that is unless we beat it to death by making 9827502 sequels.
Let's have a movie about Jack the Monkey.
Or bring back Anna Maria 'cuz I really loved her a lot, she had spunk, and Jack did deserve that one.

^Oi, yes, I agree with the statement about Anamaria. Honestly, she was a great character with amazing potential, and then along comes DMC and we don't even get a reason why she left. Just poof! Gone.
I'd personally take her over Elizabeth any day.

Personally, I found her the one that had any plausible relationship with Jack Sparrow, 'cuz she's not terribly *insane* like all the rest so it's a good balancing act.
Of course, she wasn't around long enough for _anything_ to happen. Suddenly you've got some sort of suppressed feelings between Jack and ... what? Elizabeth?
So, my arm could be twisted to looking forward to the 4th Pirates, if Anna Maria made an appearance. Several appearances. More like the entire duration of the movie.

How is that even the same? Norrington's DEAD, Anamaria's just disappeared!

Well.... they could have bumped her off as well. You never know with these sneaky writers.
They both went before their time anyway. Why introduce a female pirate if she ain't going to come in useful in the future anyway?

She completely got the short end of the stick.
[shakes her fist at the writers]
But realizes the Pirate trilogy is awesome, and stops.

Heh, thus why roleplaying comes in handy. You can have Norrie AND Anamaria come back. And Beckett too.
I liked her because I felt she sorta kept Jack in line in some ways... and not to mention she didn't try to kiss every single man in the trilogy *coughELIZABETHcough* And I liked Tia Dalma as well.

^exactly, exactly, EXACTLY!!!!
Anamaria? Never gave her much thought to be honest. lol
I am very happy, though, that I'm not the only one who's... well, not overly excited over this. I can see it being okay if it's just a grand ol' pirate adventure and they don't shoot for epicness like the trilogy and then I can see them totally ruining the whole feel of the PotC movies. (they're already on that road by losing so many amazing characters *coughcoughElizabethWillNorrieBeckettcough*) Gah. So confusing.

I mean, honestly, how much can you beat a horse until it gets mediocre?
I don't want Jack to be mediocre.
Or Barbossa, because he's _so_ awesome.

I don't know if it was already mentioned here but this is what I read on the internet.
Quote: Penelope Cruz Joining Pirates of the Caribbean
Source:Heat Vision February 10, 2010
Penelope Cruz is in negotiations to join Johnny Depp in the Rob Marshall-directed Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, reports Heat Vision.
Scheduled for a release on May 20, 2011, the fourth installment revolves around the Fountain of Youth. Depp is reprising the role of Captain Jack Sparrow and Cruz's character is expected to be "Sparrow's foil and equal in many ways."
The Jerry Bruckheimer-produced film was written by Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot. Shooting will take place in Hawaii this summer.
Cruz starred in Marshall's last film, Nine.

So I think we can forget a reappearance of Anamaria, now that they're looking for a new leading lady. I do like Penelope though, but I'm not sure whether she would fit in the Pirates athmosphere. I guess we have to prepare for a complete different movie than the previous three.

Being that they are supposed to be following Jack and Barbossa's adventure to what? The Fountain of Youth? And it's by the Aztec/Mayans, I think it fits.
... I just wish we could still see Anamaria.
