^aye, talking like a pirate was fun :pirate:... although here was the only place where I did. I kind of neglected my pirate duties yesterday... :erm: :duh:

I thank you three, Anie, Darky and Taur, for your imput on this… I think I've finally decided what I'll go with. :)

Elizabeth - "Courage". I love "spirit" but for some reason I can't shake how I feel about "courage" for her.
Will - "Destiny". Same with him. I really like "honor" but I can't get "destiny" out of my mind.... so I have to go with that.
Jack - I love "freedom" for him! thanks to all of you for that one. :-D
Barbossa - I wasn't overly happy with what I came up with but when I saw "devious" I loved it. Thanks to Darky and Taur!
Becky - I liked "power" but I really like "aristocrat" so I'm gonna use that one. Thanks Darky and Taur!
Jones - still not to sure on this one… I like "destiny" but can't use that for him and Will... so what do you guys think about "lost"?
Norrie - happy we all agree on that one. :-D
Pin and Rags - I love "teamwork" Anie! thanks!

thanks to all of you guys again! you're life savers! :teehee:
I have all the pics now... so I just need to get it made. :P

Well, we'll forgive you since school's started again. ;) (They're attempting to replace all the lovely Pirate information we collected in our brains over the summer with icky boring stuff! :P)

See? It all makes sense! :D (though the third Aladdin movie was good, but John Rhys-Davies was in it so I may just be biased :teehee:) (I know, neither can I! Woot! :bounce:)

Oh good. I wouldn't want Uncle Cutler any more ticked off at me than he already is... (because of Rags, I mean ;))

thank you! :-D And you're welcome! :-D I was actually originally gonna put seperate quotes from each character in it but then I thought of that one and.... well, it kind of seems to sum up PotC doesn't it? I mean it sums up what they fought for and it's what all three movies basically build up to.

lol thanks! :P I'm planning on watching at least a little bit of DMC tomorrow night so hopefully I can revive my brain. ;) (oh, I know! :'( although I won't let go that easily! "we must fight... to run away" (can't remember exactly how it goes though  but it came to my mind just then :P)

yes, it does. :) (you may just be at that ;)) (huzzah! :teehee: or what would it be for National Treasure? just "yay"?)

Awww, your Uncle Cutler's not mad at you! He loves Ragetti. Don't you, Becky? *gives him a quick glare*

Aww, don't feel bad, I think most of us did in RL. :)

I'm glad we could be of service. Nice word picks! (You're welcome for "teamwork". :teehee:) I like "lost" for Davy, actually, it suits him somehow. (He's kind of a hard one to do anyway since he's so complicated...)

Aye, that it does, just as well as Aragorn's speech or Gandalf's speech (the one from FOTR) sums up the LOTR story.

 Truer words were never spoken! That is what we must do, "indeed". :P

(I think technically it should be "yay" for NT2, but "huzzah" is so much fun to say we can probably get away with sticking it in other fandoms. :D)

Sure, whatever you say. :P ;)

I like your choices, PD! You're welcome. :D

"Lost" works well for Davy, or you could go for "Abandoned" or "Heartless," even though it sounds a little harsh. :erm: (I don't mean Heartless as an insult, just kind of a statement.)

yeah... :( unfortunatly I think we did... if I had started talking pirate-ish my family probably would've looked at me like I was insane anyway. But wait! That should be a class you can take for school! It would be a lot easier to learn than French... :teehee: although French is fun.

Couldn't have done it without you guys. ;) And thanks! Ok, I think I'll go with "lost" then... might have to get my request out tonight... if I have time. :P

yup! I love summing up speeches... they're so powerful and they make your spine tingle! :-D

 thanks! although the scary part is they're Jack's words that are "truer words were never spoken"!  happy you agree *high fives*

(I think so too. :P good! Huzzah is a ton of fun! I wonder why people stopped saying it.... Groovy is fun to say too. :P

Ok, I'll use "lost" then... well, "heartless" is a little... funny. No offence though! But you could take it two ways.... which could be cruel. but I understand what you meant. ;)

Uff,I'm back here, you don't know how much work there is at the policce station! :comppunch2:

Well,I'm very bad at french, and, uhm, you know, working at Paris and such.. :cyclops:
At least I can watch movies in english, boy, sometimes the subtle voices are so weird!

In one place I read that a newspaper said a bad critic about Pilates, saying that the movies ''gloryfied piracy''.
Does somebody knows what that means?
(I don't share the same opinion of the newspaper)

PD, I have not either. All of my family (except maybe my Ada....I think that he was asleep during that part...) burst out loud laughing at that part. :) Your family has not seen it yet? Oh, that is not good. I am sorry.
That text will go perfect for the banner(s)! :-D
75 days to go! :bounce:

FaeEowynTonks, I think that what they meant when they said "glorified piracey" is that Disney was making piracey look like a good thing (making them out to be the heros...which was not so in reality).

@ Fae... We're still glad you can get on a little, though.

I can imagine! It must be impossible to learn french in Paris, of all places! :teehee:

Yeah, they are saying that the movie encouraged being immoral and cutthroat and all that fun stuff that goes along with being a pirate. (:bones:) They're right, it kind of does, but it's not like the East India Trading Company was on the path of righteousness. :eyeroll:

Edit: Oops, I posted at the same time as Drew, and she said it better. :P So, yeah, what she said! :D

Oh well,it's just that,I'm no good at french.
To tell the truth, some friends(whom know american and french) are teaching me a bit,but still,I prefer to talk in english.

Thanks a lot for the information, well it's like the same thing with witches and wizards,I mean in the Middle Ages people were so terryfied of witchcraft and years later people think of it in the same way(the witches from fairytales and such)but know we know and like witches whom, really, are the heroines and heroes(Lord of the Rings(Gandalf is not exactly a wizard, but many people think so)Harry Potter,Wicked,Bewitched..etc)

I like magic, and you may look at my signature to see whom are ONES of my favourites witches/wizards

So it's basically the same
Pirates:Past-Terror,Now-Cool

Witches:Past-Villains,Present-Heroines

I was going to say put complicated for Davy, but I see your already using lost.

I'm torn. Should I see AWE again(5th time), Stardust or Tansformers....argh.

I can't stop listening to the AWE soundtrack, and its kind of scary, but I deal with it fine because it rocks!

Awww, well I'm sorry to hear that! at least you can still get on a little. :)

Really? You work in Paris and you still aren't good at French? Seems like it would be easier to learn a language if you were actually in the country where it was spoken.... :P good luck with learning it!... actually a lot of French words sound like the English words
I know! For some other shows I've heard the voices they give the characters in a certain different language and it's really funny. :teehee:

Taur and Drew have already given wonderful explainations for the rest of it so you don't need me there. :)

I have never gotten how you could sleep through a movie. :teehee: especially Pirates. ;) but anyway I understand totally! It is an awesomely funny scene! Well, my brother and I went to see it alone... our mom and dad still need to see it. :erm: ah, don’t feel sorry. They WILL see it! Even if I have to tie them to the chair and make them watch it. ;)
thanks! :-D I can't wait to see how it comes out. :P
I know! SQWEEE! :bounce:

Anyway, Drew and Taur are right... that's what it means... however, I don't think Disney was really making any real statement by those movies to make all pirates out to be "good guys" or make piracy and all that other stuff justifiable or anything... and it certainly hasn't made me want to go out and do immoral things and all that stuff. :eyeroll: (movies and things like that aren't (IMO) what make people do those bad things anyway  but that's off the topic ) I guess I don't really get where anyone would come up with that... I mean most of the pirates (if not all) in those movies aren't really ones most people want to model their lives after. ;) Take Sao Feng for example :yuck: but still.....
I guess I don't really listen to the critics anyway... almost all of them gave DMC and AWE and Return of the King even bad reviews when in fact those three movies are some of the best movies ever! :eyeroll:

Oh, my gosh! Your theater is STILL playing AWE! :swoon: I am so envious of you, Darky! :annoyed2: ;) well, you wouldn't want my opinion on that choice... :P

it's not scary at all! :teehee:

Yes!! You'd spend the entire time watching PotC, then you'd take a test of quotes! It'd be tons of fun. :D

Well, she seemed to accept it pretty well. :)

"Immersion" is the magic word. ;) My brother has given me tons of lectures on that. :eyeroll: (We're in a competition of sorts. :P I've been learning German and he's been learning French, and then I've started learning French too at about the same time he started learning German. So we're trying to out-language each other or something. :innocent:)

Especially in musicals. :P It's creepy. And the words don't line up with their mouth so I kind of makes my head hurt. :P

In fact, Disney had the most accurate portrayal as pirates having being filthy and poor rather than terrifyingly exciting and rich. It's even though they still are the protagonists they're not nearly as bad as the "good guys" in other movies where people are shooting at each other and such. :eyeroll:
I agree, I don't like how harsh critics are. :( When you do something unique they beat you up for it and when you don't they beat you up anyway. It's doesn't make sense. :confuzzled:

Complicated is good! Better than my suggests, anyway. :P

Mm, well, I'd go with AWE, though Stardust doesn't look half-bad. :)

Yeah, the ominous drumbeats and stuff are a little creepy, but that's also what makes it so fun. :D

:teehee: that's my kind of class! O, a test of quotes! I would get an A or A+ every time. :P Too bad someone wouldn't invent that and actually get it to schools or something... :erm: after all there is actually a school to learn some language in Star Trek!

yeah... and it's not like I need it right now. She can totally take her time with it. :)

Ahhhh, yes. I understand. (wow! You've been learning German! :swoon: that language seems like it would be REALLY hard! I admire you! :notworthy:)

Oh, I've never seen a musical like that! But I know like some Japanese/Chinies movies are really funny to watch!

yes, you are totally right! the pirates in PotC are pretty much the way the pirates were... they aren't romanticized or living a wonderful life... they're pirates. well, they are slightly exciting ;) I mean they meet Davy Jones, they're always in some sort of dilemma, ect...
but you are 100% right! I don't think Disney or T&T were really trying to show pirates as anything... they were just telling a wonderful story including pirates, the Royal Navy, the EITC, regular people ect... it wasn't really meant in anyway... least ways I don't think it was. *shrugs*

exactly! That's why I don't listen to them. I mean some of the biggest complaints I heard about AWE were "it was too long" and "it was to complicated". As Geoffrey Rush said in an interview I read a while ago:

the critics ect don't give the real fans enough credit for their knowledge as far as what's happening ect goes.

that's not exactly how he phrased it but that's how I understood it. And he's right (on everything he said in that interview). I really didn't have a problem following it. Maybe people who aren't really fans and were just watching it did... but that still doesn't mean it should be rated "horrible". and the length didn't bother me at all either.... anyway, I understand where you're coming from... I don't get it either... and then the critics will take another movie and give it a wonderful rating! I also read a review for AWE once where at the very end it said (quickly searchs around finds it (exactly quoted). prepare to be disgusted)

"Then, after the villains one-up each other with desperately dastardly deeds to demonstrate who has the super-evil-dude market cornered, we aren't sure who we want to hate, either. And as the messiness mounts, we begin to care less and less about where this aimless projectile of a movie is heading. All that's left is crash-boom! What was born from an amusement park ride ends up as little else. An almost three-hour boat ride through Disneyland's pirate world. The monsters moan and the pirates prance and the ship rocks, but Jack, Elizabeth and Will end up meaning as little to us as those theme park animatronics......"

"......Putting aside the romanticizing of piracy, violence and dark spirituality (if you've even heard of the Pirates movies, you know those things are all in there), the other cost of selling your soul for a few more big bangs is that At World's End feels as heartless as its scaly, squirmy-faced villain, Davy Jones. You have to sit through 10 minutes of credits to be shown one brief tender moment that rings true. One earnest soul you might identify with. But that's like tormenting a parched pirate—stuck in the middle of the land of death—with a single drop of water."

is that rediculous or what? :annoyed2: Pirates isn't like that at all! Does anyone else agree with me here? :disgust: I mean this is insulting to Pirates of the Caribbean, T&T, us fans, the cast, the characters... everyone! :(
but I'm only a PotC fan. What do I know?

:teehee: that's my kind of class! O, a test of quotes! I would get an A or A+ every time. :P Too bad someone wouldn't invent that and actually get it to schools or something... :erm: after all there is actually a school to learn some language in Star Trek!

Ahhhh, yes. I understand. (wow! You've been learning German! :swoon: that language seems like it would be REALLY hard! I admire you! :notworthy:)

yes, you are totally right! the pirates in PotC are pretty much the way the pirates were... they aren't romanticized or living a wonderful life... they're pirates. well, they are slightly exciting ;) I mean they meet Davy Jones, they're always in some sort of dilemma, ect...
but you are 100% right!

I know! We'd do so well! :D (Seriously? There should be one for Elvish too. :annoyed2:)

Danke schön. It's not so hard, especially compared to French.

Ugh... that's the kind of reviews I stay away from. I don't get how people can say stuff like that! That is wrong on so many levels! Geoffry Rush is right, they really don't expect us to know anything. Nearly every PotC fan would agree. :disgust:
