Sorry I just had to get that out. I'm not usually into politics but it's hard to ignore all that goes on. Even our TV magazine had a pull out map of the seperated Europe and which votes would go to where, and by George they were right. Seriously though, how some of the utter crap tonight even got into the final let along received a vote (yes, I am talking to you Spain and you Bosnia) is beyond me.... apart from the fact it's all to do with politics. Out of the 43 countries that voted, I think something like only 4 actually seemed to be voting for the music, and not for their buddies.
It may be amusing, but when you consider what it should be and what it actually is, it's not funny anymore.  I feel sorry for our entrant, as he had a good song, sang it very well, and went home joint bottom with 14 points. Because he's not from Eastern Europe.
A great example was after the Iraq war. We received for the first time in a ridiculous amount of years...... 0 points.... because everyone hated us. This year Ukraine gave Russia 12 points, and as our delightful commentator said "that will keep the oil flowing" as a few months ago, the pipes from Russia to the Ukraine that supplied the oil, were cut off.
I should probably keep this rant for my DA journal.
