^ OMG I love your sig. When Sweets said that I started laughing. Fruit pie = Booth's method of seduction. I'd be all for it. I love pie. More than I should!

@Mr. O: You know, after reading the interview with Eric, I kept thinking that the whole Iraq/post-traumatic stress thing would've really played well into Zach being the apprentice.

But yeah...it was WAY too rushed. I don't know why they couldn't put it off until next season. I mean, if they wanted a "big bang" finale...Booth being shot was big enough. :P

Well, maybe next season the writers can somehow redeem themselves by writing some episodes to EXPLAIN this. :annoyed:

And YAY for Booth seducing Brennan with pie!! XD

ANYWAY, I come back here with yet ANOTHER interview from TVGuide.com. (I really need to stay away from that site XD)

THIS time, a response from Hart Hanson himself!

Quote:
Exclusive: Bones Boss Responds to Finale "Zack-lash"

You grumbled, I did something about it. Taking note of the passionate reaction to the season-finale bombshell that Zack — Zack! — is the Gormogon's apprentice, I invited Bones creator Hart Hanson to share the rationale behind the reveal. Let me know if this soothes the sting at all.

TVGuide.com: Between Bones and House, Fox was really out to shake up its viewers this Monday night, eh?

- Boy, that's for sure! Don't you think? Good lord!

TVGuide.com: In assessing the Zack reveal, many of our readers are tossing around words such as "unforgivable," "manipulative," "cop-out," "illogical"....

- [Laughs] The first thing you do, of course, is be delighted they are tossing any words around. They're responding, which is what you want. The really bad response would have been silence.

TVGuide.com: Right. As one reader noted, "what good TV does" is get people talking.

- And we certainly did that. There are a bunch of reasons why we did what we did, the most important being that we're going into our fourth season and you want an audience to know that you're not "in a box," that anything can happen. Even though we're half a comedy, you don't want an audience settling in and getting blasé. We knew pre-strike even there would be changes at Bones.

TVGuide.com: Some have speculated that the strike-shortened season chipped away at what could have been a better build-up to the Gormogon arc, laying the foundation for Zack's motivation — such as post-traumatic stress.

- That's very good, yes. Initially the plan — and things go through so many iterations — was that we would find that Zack was either the apprentice to the Gormogon, or that he was approached by the Gormogon, rebuffed the offer, and then was killed. Any number of scenarios were explored. But coming back from the strike, we only had two episodes to set things up, and this presented the maximum bang for our buck — "Let's shock everyone" — and that seems to have worked to an extent. I am delighted for our show, and for Eric Millegan, that some people are furious.

TVGuide.com: Eric told us that an "I'm sorry" from Zack was left on the editing room floor.

- That's right. The "I'm sorry" on top of the big fat tear was gilding the lily. God bless Eric, he squeezed out a huge tear, in character. Zack is somewhat distanced from his emotions, so it was as though the interior part of him was sorry but his intellect didn't know it. When he said, "I'm sorry" after that, it was a repetitive beat. Plus, he's such a sympathetic character — unlike Brennan, who can be colder — everyone assumes he's sorry anyway.

TVGuide.com: Did you consider making anyone else the Gormogon's apprentice?

- Oh, hell yes. And we certainly did everything we could to throw suspicion on everyone we could.

TVGuide.com: The Bones cast and crew is still at work, right?

- Yes. It was the oddest thing — as soon as we got back, we shot two episodes to end Season 3. Then we shot another four episodes, but they won't air until after the season opener we're shooting in London in the latter half of June.

TVGuide.com: Is the London episode a stand-alone?

- Yes. Booth and Brennan go off to solve a crime in London. It's a big, two-hour [season premiere].

TVGuide.com: Let me guess — they have wacky run-ins with the Bobbies.

- [Laughs] That's exactly correct. And funny English people.

TVGuide.com: Anything else you want to say about the finale and Eric's status with the show moving forward?

- Eric was a consummate pro about it, and he hated keeping it a secret. He was really worried that his fans would turn against him. But we have not seen the last of him. He won't be in every episode, but Zack has certain talents we can use in a "Hannibal Lecter" kind of way. We can go visit him and he can look at stuff. If my voice sounds light right now, it's because the decision was not made lightly. But we've got to do what we've got to do.

Well...that's interesting. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...

A 2-hour season premiere? Hell yes!

August/September is way too far away.

Well, I feel really terrible about Zack. I totally would have accepted it if we had had more time to get more background and reasoning behind it. As it was, it did seem a little thin. I didn't really follow the reason for it.

And yeah.
I'm a little pissed off right now. A little depressed. And *beep*! Fox pulled off two STUNNING finales tonight. I'm almost as depressed as I was at Lost's last season finale...with Charlie.
:'(
*SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH*

Totally agree!
I realized it was Zack when he was telling Hodgins and Angela that he was the only one with a key and Hodgins kept drugging him. I think Hodgins knew at that point as well. I'm not thrilled, but I like it a lot better than killing him. My friend heard a rumor that Eric wanted to leave and we were afraid (this was a couple weeks ago) that Zack was the one who was going to be shot...it worked much better with Booth. ^^

^Agreed. I loved Bones's reaction to finding out he was alive, haha! :) It was so perfect.

I still can't believe that Zack was Gormigon's apprentice! It's just too strange! :(

Okay, a little bit of spoliers:

*beep* writers? You weren't happy getting rid of Zack, now you break up Hodgins and Angela, just when she finally gets the divorce settled??? Crap.

All this "let's give Brennan and Booth pseudo-love interests" stuff is driving me crazy. LET THEM GET IT ON already! GAHHH.

Okay, other than that, it was a good episode. Booth throwing a fit because he doesn't know how to drive on the other side was hilarious.

*SPOILERS FOLLOW*

Haha, I absolutely loved the Bones and Booth love interests. Just because I know that in no circumstances will Booth and Bones ever hook up. It'll be the end of the series.

Also, Angela's husband Grayson? Oh man, was he gorgeous or what? I was just like "...whoa. She's breaking up with HIM for Hodgins?" Don't get me wrong, I love Hodgins so much, but Grayson was just...wow. And Sweets's reaction to it was completely perfect. "Hahahaha, poor Hodgins. Look at that guy!"

I really enjoyed this episode, even with the whole Angela/Hodgins thing.

EDIT: Oh, one more thing. Monty, I know you noticed this at least, I don't know who else did. SUSIE!!!!! I was so surprised to see her randomly in this episode.

I too thought Grayson was hot... Sweet's reaction was hilarious. He walks in and just automatically starts laughing. And when Cam first saw him, I was like, oh she thinks he's to die for. And later, wasn't surprised when they ended up in bed together.

Oh, me either. I was thinking "man, I really don't blame her." When Angela turned him down (even though it really was a smart move), I was like "what are you thinking?!"

And also, Hodgins getting his butt handed to him by Grayson was amazing. I swear that Grayson picked him up with one hand.

*bounces in*

Yeah, I watch Bones. With my mom. And we say things like "I bet SHE did it" cause we're cool that way.

Anyway...the whole thing with Angela and Hodgins was like *headdesk*. Whyyyyy? It was so...random. Like, in the space of five minutes they went from engaged and planning a wedding to "...you don't trust me. Well that's the end. I'm leaving. You're not stopping me."

I'm so glad to have TV back after nothing all summer.

You know, I totally agree. It was totally random. It was like the writers were like "Ahh! We can't have commitment of any sort in OUR show! What do we do? Oh, make them break up over...lack of trust!! Brilliant!"

^ Drives me bonkers. Freaking writers.

Hodgins getting knocked into the back of a trash truck and then the truck driving away was priceless. I was like, aww poor Hodgins, but I was laughing out loud.

Meh, I wasn't as bothered by the whole thing as I could have been. For me most of the people besides Bones and Booth are a bit peripheral. It was just kinda dumb for them to be madly in love one second and then three sentences later have decided that it'll never work. I mean, yeesh.
