I think the movie was alright.. nah, quite good for what it was.. part I. But I'm sort of disappointed that they made the trailer for DH:1 of scenes from bioth part I and II. They edited the trailer as if it was action-packed when in fact it was a lot more slow-paced and plot-building movie. :)

Phoenix:: GORGEOUS Snape banner!!! *steals and eats*
One of the best HP/Snape banners I've seen!!! :P

@Eä - considering the talented people that frequent AU..I take this a huge compliment. Thank you <3

@Larael - I had a feeling there'd be more of a build between Harry & Ginny in the books. So it's a real shame that couldn't be translated on screen or perhaps the two actors just don't have the right chemistry to make it convincing. She looks like a girl with a crush [which I suppose she is] and he just looks bored and uninterested in her and seems to be going along with it cause he's ran out of options.

But yusssssssss I<3 Snape sososo much. Alan Rickman has been one of my fave actors for as long as I can remember so I definetly think he plays a large role in why I find Snape so amazing.

I'm hoping to get the books for or after Yule. But I want to wait to read them till I've seen all the movies. Weird I know but :P what can I say

@Lar: Well that issue came mainly from the whole Ministry raid. In the book, they planned for quite a while for that and I kinda wished we had a short Ocean's Eleven-esque montage of them working on that. Also the Malfoy Manor felt kinda rushed. It was like "we're captured, Hermoine's being tortured, oh look there's Dobby, Dobby rescues them, they break out, Bellatrix throws sharp knife at Dobby, Dobby dies." Maybe because it was the last scene before Voldemort steals the Elder Wand but I would have like to see a little build up.

I think if we had the set up of the ministry raid and a lengthened Malfoy Manor then the movie would have felt extremely drawn out. We already have all the camping scenes which some felt were long already, I personally enjoyed them, but that is besides the point.

With more plotting the movie would have maybe started to feel dragged on. That is my opinion, I of course would have enjoyed more Malfoy Manor and Snape xP but I think they did a good job of keeping the most relevant scenes, for the most part, and produced a great first part of the final film.

It was clearly a choice not to focus on the obvious action scenes like Malfoy Manor but like Caun I agree it could have been a little more elaborated...

Actually, it was quite daring to focus so much on character building and subtlety... ness... ish... in the camping scenes. A lot rests on the trio in most of the movie in making it an interesting and see-worthy part - for book-fans and others. I'm not sure I'm completely convinced it worked the best. I was never a fan of their acting and though I acknowledge how they have grown into better actors with the movies I still felt like they were just saying the lines from the book and acting it. My HP-fan heart was satisfied because they follwed the book closely and I got to see it on the screen but their acting didn't add an extra layer or depth to any of the characters like I could have wished for.

I bought Movie Magic today because it is all about Harry Potter so it was simply a must buy!

Anyway as I was flipping through it I saw a picture of Daniel and David Heyman talking behind the scenes and in the background was a young Snape and a young Lily!!!!

This excites me greatly <3

^ AAH! I hope that means that Lily and Snape get the time on screen that they deserve! :D

@ Raivynn: I can't wait to hear what you think of the books then! I think it will be interesting to hear the opinion of someone who saw the movies before reading the books. I hope they surprise you - in a good way of course!

@ Caunion: Ah, I see what you mean. In my opinion I think it felt that way only because the film makers set up the movie such that there was action followed by a lull, then more action followed by a lull, etc. The suspense wasn't really there [until the end]. The movie felt like [especially after having reread the book] several key scenes thrown together in series one after the other. [If that makes any sense.]
