You're gonna all think I'm hard-hearted, but when Jack died I immediately went, "What a relief! Now Elizabeth and Will have nothing impeding their relationship!" and I was annoyed when Tia Dalma talked about bringing him back. Hey, Jack's not my favorite, it's Will. I know the movies wouldn't have been the same with him dead but...I wasn't too torn up that he'd died.

*Dodges the flying tomatoes* Don't hurt me! :hide:

I don't know how they could do that to us though! Elizabeth kissing Jack, Will seeing, Jack dying, Barbossa coming back to life, and this is the END of the movie! *Dies* It's okay Mel...only 231 days... :stun:

(shudders) the end of that movie was really, really awful for me. the main reason being jack's death although I'm not sure if the kiss isn't really why i hated it.

I mentioned about Jack's "death" in previous post, but that kiss ticked me of so much! :disgust: I feel bad for Will. :(

I do too, and I don't even really like him that much.

Well, you can imagine my feelings then, Will has always been my favorite. I was so mad at the end of the movie - I took home the popcorn bucket and considered just cutting out Will's picture and keeping only it (his pic on the popcorn bucket IS pretty hot) but I decided I'd give Jack and Elizabeth the benefit of the doubt and let them have a chance to redeem themselves in the third movie.

I'm really keeping an open mind about all this (easier for me, I suppose, since I know already that they do redeem themselves at least somewhat).
The danger of expanding any story across two movies (as they are doing with DMC and AWE) is that the first of the two automatically will not meet all the criteria for a 'good movie.' It'll leave the audience second-guessing a lot of the characters and their motives, it'll have a lot of ostensible plot holes, and it won't even have a 'proper' conclusion. If its purpose were to stand alone, it'd be a horrible a movie. The real trick, though, is writing it in such a way that even though they aren't too happy with how the second one turned out, fans are still dying to see what happens in the third, because the role of the third is to redress every one of those problems. It exposes deeper plotlines and motivations that explain why a certain character acted in such a way at some point, fills in at least most of the plot holes with previously-unknown details, and wrap up all the loose ends from its predecessor. At this point I can't honestly say that I know a whole lot about AWE (we normally don't see much information until about 5-6 months before a movie's released), but what I do know suggests that it will meet all those requirements, and then some.
So, as for me, I'm not going to be hating anyone or anything until I have the whole story.

You know, PotR, you are driving me insane. All I want to know is if poor Will gets his girl! *Bangs head on wall* :headwall:

Yes, I have a one-track mind. I actually don't care what the heck happens to Jack as long as Will's okay!

No, that's not true. I'm not that hard-hearted. I'm sure the next time I see CotBP or DMC I'll get right up close to the TV and smile a little and one of my family members will say, "I thought Will was your favorite," and I'll say "Oh he is....but you know, Jack's not at all bad-looking either!"

PotR's driving us crazy. As usual. And I'm obsessing over whether or not my darling Will gets his girl. Nothing new!

So, basically, it's all about making money. :annoyed: Sorry I'm like that.

The problem is, the first one was so amazing and COMPLETE. Having sequel just felt...out of place. So they had to think of weird stuff to get us interested, and they could just ride on the success of the first movie anyway.

Yay for PotR! :p Well, it is about making money. And I do agree, the first one was complete... But the second and third are sort of like one movie. Like LotR! I mean, you could watch the DMC without seeing CotBP and pretty much pick up on everything, while if you watched AWE without seeing DMC it'd be prety confusing. Make sense? Probably not. :)

Yeah, but still, it would have been a lot better if the first movie was sort of like the first Star Wars, and the bad guy still had to be defeated. I'm not saying they should have made it that way; I think CotBP was absoluetely perfect! It was a wonderful stand-alone movie. But it made it hard to make a sequel.

And when you make sequel, if you haven't seen he first one, then you should be lost. (Like LotR) A sequel is only really good when it's a continuation of the first movie, not an addition to it.

**Disclaimer: Please no one get mad. I liked parts of DMC too, but I'm just saying...
