I couldn't agree more!
Was just reading this interesting article that spills some possible details for the pirates 4 plot: http://movies.ign.com/articles/797/797929p1.html

I really like those plot ideas. Jack finding Atlantis would be extremely cool!

I don't like the Jules Verne theories that are going around, but anything other than that would be great. I want to see some mermaids in a POTC film as well! You'd expect them to crop up sometime as they are part of the myth and legend of the time.

Yay!
I completely agree about being glad that this will be a Jack and Barbossa type story rather than a Will and Elizabeth one. Not that I didn't like the W/E story, but I think they've taken that as far as it will go. Meanwhile I'm excited to see more Jack and Barbossa because I really like those two and think they go well together.
Not so sure about the plot lines though. Finding Atlantis sounds a bit... cheesy and little kiddish to me. Then again, it's all what they do with it. Johnny Depp makes verything he's in brilliant, so I'm not too worried.

Ooooh. Atlantis is good. Really good.
I'm rather happy that we're finally done with Will and Elizabeth, mostly because I never liked either of them at all.
Give me more Ragetti and I'll be perfectly happy, if not ecstatic.

Atlantis?? Mm, not bad I guess... A Jack-Barbossa thing could be quite cool, because I think that there's more to come for in those character - and a good-bye would be real sad..

Well, we have to remember that the next film is a long way off yet, and these are all rumours. Personally, the "Jules Vene" machinary scares me slightly, as not only is it the wrong era but I hope that the producers have the sense to keep POTC to Pirate mythology rather than science fiction.

Yeah, stick to ships, that's what I say. That is, not airships. Thing that made me indignant was here: http://movies.ign.com/articles/777/777554p1.html
Will?! "the most expendable member of the lead cast"? I beg to differ! I keep hoping we'll have Will in a fourth Pirates if not Elizabeth - ohpleaseohpleaseohplease....

Well... I suppose if it wasn't for the fact, it seem that Will is on the "other side", there could be a chance that he and Jack could meet up and fight iff evil again.... but as he uis, I can't honestly see how Will could be in the next film, if this "theory" is correct.
I don't think it will be any less of a good film just because Will is not in it though. His story (for the moment) is finished.

Aye, the Willabeth story line has run it's course I think. Especially after seeing that extra after-credits bit I think we can safely assume that Will and Elizabeth have completely settled down to an extent.

I would hardly call Will or Elizabeth expendable. They made a whole movie without even mentioning Barbossa save for his appearance in the last 20 seconds. Wouldn't that make him more expendable? Still, if they want to keep the whole thing believable, and to drag people along for a few more movies, they may do best to leave all of the Willabeth drama behind. They've done nearly everything they can do, and the rest can be left up to fanfiction. In fact I don't really see the need for another sequel, but I never saw the need for any of the sequels. So whatever they want to do is fine with me, I'm sure it will turn out alright and rather funny no matter what.

It's not that I need another sequel, but I will definitely go see it if/when they make one. I think they're just making a second one because A) Johnny Depp says he really wants to. And let's face it, Johnny Depp is what makes Pirates. The other characters are fun, and I love a lot of them, but the films would be nothing without Jack. B) They've made bajillions of dollars off the other ones. Why not make a few more bajillions if they can?
I really hope they don't do a Jules Verne/Around the World in 80 Days/Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea thing either. That would just be... totally wrong. In every way. Not pirate-y in the least.
As far as expendable characters go, both Will and Elizabeth seem pretty expendable now. I wouldn't call Will any more expendable than her. They're story is over. Now we can move on to the Jack and Barbossa stuff. Which I like better anyway, so it's all good.

I'd love to see mermaids also. I actually thought there might be some at world's end (part of the weird and wonderful). But alas no.

I totally agree with you guys! It made/makes me so mad when people always say that Will (or Elizabeth) is the most expendable. I think if they got rid of them (and with loosing a lot of their other cast in AWE) they might find a fourth Pirates would turn more people away then you'd think… even being a Barbossa fan as I am (and I do love all the Jack/Barbossa scenes) I definitely wouldn't go to see it in the theater. There's just something about it that seems like it's just grubbing for more money... maybe not on G. Rush or J. Depp's part but the rest of them, I dunno... I think they should just let Pirates and the trilogy rest.
However, some of the ideas for the 4th movie might not be all bad but I'm afraid they'll loose all the... pirateyness of it... (as some of you have already said) and without Will and Elizabeth how can it really be Pirates of the Caribbean?
So, needless to say, I'm happy if they have make it it won't be for another couple years. Ok, now I've got it all out and said my peace.... and I feel better for it.

^I know what you mean, Pirate's Destiny...I mean, from the start it's been Johnny, Orli, Keira and Geoffrey. To do one with only half would be wrong, somehow.

I don't think it would be wrong, just different.
We have to admit that Will and Elizabeth are over. Their characters can't really go any further.
I also, personally, agree that Will and Elizabeth are highly expendable. We all know (or at least should) that Johnny Depp is the one that really draws in the viewers. Yes, a bunch of teenage girls go only for Orlando, but we all know Jack Sparrow is the big pull. It makes sense that the people doing the movie would cut him out (it's one less person to pay so they're not really losing much money by doing it).
I think it will be different without Elizabeth and Will, but you can't look at it as a Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Well, yes, you can, but you have to look at it as a different story (as it will be).
