Enedlhach, Hello, I'm glad to see that we have another new Lost fan. I hope that you get to join in our Lost discussions around here. We are always pleased to meeet and talk to more fans.  Good luck with not becoming obessed. It's kind of hard to do though.  lol
JF, Well I do see your points on Sayid. Also I will admit that they don't always write well for him. They seem to like to write him into corners and forget about him alot.
I liked that Ben and Alex called each other "dad" and "daughter" too. At first I didn't like the fact that there is a Strong possability that they aren't biologicaly family...probabley because that would stand a chance of making Ben out to be a bad dad. I mean because then you have the whole he kidnapped her why thing which might not paint him as a good dad depending on why he took her. Which him being a bad dad would make me very upset. I mean don't we have enough dead beat dads on Lost? There is Locke's dad, Sawyer's dead dad, Jack and Claire's dad, and Hurly's dad...just off the top of my head. How many do we really need? Okay rant over on that...sorry. Anyway but I have gotten over that because they are making ben out to be a good lvoing caring father. It's really nice to see a loving adopted family on television. We had Shannon and Boone of course but they were step and were more of a couple rather than family. so yeah...I like Ben and Alex.

I'm getting more and more worried about Sayid too. I don't want him to die. It's looking like a very strong possability though. 
(light bulb goes off above head) Is Niki the blonde early 20s/teenage woman that was pulled back from helping Hurly with the car? Is Paulo the dark haired, brown eyed, guy that Sawyer asked who he was to (like I wanted to) two episodes back? Please somebody tell me who Niki and Paulo are or tell me what they look like. DD - Now that you mention all those dead beat dads, I realize there are a lot!  Therefore I hope that Ben is Alex's real, loving, caring father as well  I think I'm starting to think Ben isn't such a bad guy after all....JF you're rubbing off on me! 
JF - Yup, they wouldn't help Hurley The only one who would was Jin (another reason to love him - he's so nice and helpful!  ), but of course, Jin didn't really know what was happening, but he still helped anyway _________________

JF. Thank you for those pictures! Now I know who we are talking about.  Sorry about having to ask. Well, I guess that I could like them. It's just that we allready have so many Losties. What I mean is that if we get too many Losties that it will become hard to give the Losties that we allready know and the new Losties the time and attention that they need and deserve. Therfore Paulo and Niki had better be interesting if they want me to want them to stick around.
Gilraen Rigneril, Yeah they have alot of dead beat dads...it makes me sad. We have enough bad stuff in reality. How about some happiness on the tv or something bad that could like never happen to us, most of the time...not all of the time just most of.
I don't want Jin to die either. He is sweet, most of the time. I think that he is safe though. Because Sawyer was asking Sun about telling Jin something. Now how could she do that if he was dead? DD - Your welcome. Yeah, I have to admit that the characters I originally thought were Ok, Sayid, Charlie, etc are victims of bad storylines and writing. Even before series 3, when the story was concentrating more on our captured trio and the Others, they're characters were going downhill, fast.
Well I hope we see more of them, and by the sounds of it, Ben does seem to care for Alex. Hmm...maybe like taking the children that survived the crash was the best thing to do, so they didn't have to suffer living on the island, was what they decided to do with Alex. A young baby is not going to have any chance so I think it was the right thing to do. Let's review LOST dad's shall we? 
Locke's dad - stole his kidney and threw him out of a window
Sun's dad - gangster like person who isn't the nicest guy on the planet
Penny's dad - doesn't approve os Desmond. 'Nuff said
Jack and Claire's dad - not a really bad man, but has some definite parental issues
Kate's dad - beat up her mum among other things
Sawyer's dad - killed his mum and himself
Jin's dad - is an embarrassment to Jin (not a bad dad though)
Hurley's dad - left Hurley and his mum when he was young
I think I heard it mentioned somewhere that giving the Losties problematic parents...sort of gave them a motivation for doing some of the things they do, or are afraid of, so when we see their flashbacks, we understand why they act that way...something like that anyway....
Gil - *pokes Gil* I knew you'd be coming round to my way of thinking someday. I don't think he's a bad person either, and I have been saying that for donkey's years.  Yes, considering Jin wouldn't have anything to do with anyone to begin with, he has come a long way when it comes to helping others.

JF, Wow you have the entire list. Thank you for posting that. Well that makes it like between 6-8 (depending on how you count it) dead beat dads. I see the writters' points but good greif. Two dead beat dads or even three I think would have been enough.
Well I guess that that is true. I think that Ben seems to be a pretty good daddy to Alex. He hasn't been abusvie towards her in any way, he didn't run off and leave her, get drunk until he couldn't even tell you who his daughter was, nor did he make Alex feel like dirt on purpose. So I'll give him a pass until we find out why he took her.

JF, Wow the mums aren't much better. Thank you for that list too. They are certainly food for thought. Maybe on the island they should have a little class to teach them how to be better parents than their's were. Well, Ben and Charlie (he is fatherly towards Aaron) and Claire have all been good parents thus far.
Oh, and I have another person to add to the dead beat dad list...Sawyer. Yeah, he gave his kid money but money doesn't really replace not having your dad around. I'm not saying that money wouldn't be nice for those who's dad don't stick around but still... Also I guess that he really thought that Clementine would be better off without him but he still left her so he might be on that list. JF, Oh yeah I forgot about Aaron's biologcal father. He Certainly has to go onto the list.  There that makes it 8-10 dead beat dads.
I really hope that Sawyer gets back to their real world, so he can try to earn Clementine's forgiveness for not being there as her father durring the first few years of her life. Clementine and Sawyer both deserve that chance...a chance to have a happy life together. He should also try to make it up to Cassidy. I don't mean that he has to marry her but he has to make it up to her by being there for their daughter and treating Cassidy with respect since she is the mother of his child. He could be married to Kate and share custody of Clementine with Cassidy. I don't know if he would have went back for sure but he might have. I think that deep down he truely does love that little girl with all his heart though. Oooo! Kate/Sawyer could be Clementine's parents with Cassidy! That would be perfect....*dreams*
And wow! There are a lot of dead beat moms too! I guess the Losties haven't had very good childhoods
Maybe the real reason for the island was to get a bunch of adults who missed out on good parenting and it's a research study to see how they end up _________________
