But I really don't think they'll kill off any of the three main characters, at least not in three. Maybe if they make a four they will. I wouldn't care if they killed Elizabeth or Jack, but they'd never kill Jack- he's like the PotC icon. And they'd be killed by fangirls if they killed Will. So I really think they won't kill anyone, at least for a while.
I agree, Elizabeth took a plunge in my good books after DMC. All she did in DMC, it seems, was pout. In every scene. Pout because she can't get married...pout because she wants to be married....pout because she has to guard the chest...and yeah, they'd never kill Jack. Though I'm not so sure about Will. _________________

On the news page on IMDB there was talk that Will would be killed off in the fourth installment as the bosses felt his character wasn't going anywhere and he wasn't much use and also Bloom may want finish after three so his character would have to die. It would be great if they could do a fourth one, but keep it going and make it well.

Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, under any condition, listen to what you hear on IMDb. Ever.
As I said before, that rumor's been proven false, no doubt started by a J/E shipper who felt that the only way for J/E to survive was to kill off Will (like so many fanfics have done). It has absolutely no basis. If anything, Will's character is undergoing the most change and growth of them all. He starts CotBP as a mild-mannered, orphaned blacksmith's apprentice who's terrified of the sea (that last little tidbit courtesy of the original script). By the end of DMC, he's engaged to the governor's daughter (would've been married if not for Beckett) and takes charge of an entire pirate ship in the captain's absence. By AWE, he's doing...things...that are even more piratical. Some might even say he's become a less-selfish version of Jack. There's no way that Disney could ever justify (or afford) getting rid of his character. Period.

Well this was actually on the main page, not the forums. The news page is usually right. Although getting rid of Will would affect the takings in the box office, if Orlando Bloom said "I don't want to make anymore" then they may well have to kill him off if they want to make more than three.

Right, but any member can edit even the main pages, and the news is often just things heard on other sites. This was a very widespread rumor, so it was generally accepted as credible (kinda like Cora Sparrow). Until a movie's been out for about six months, I rarely pay any attention to what IMDb says.
And I'm not saying that his character won't be gotten rid of eventually. But I am saying that he won't be killed off, for sure in the third, and probably not in this alleged fourth. My guess is that if they even make a fourth, it won't be the exact same characters. Jack Sparrow's pretty much a given, but I have a feeling they'll either go the Star Wars route and do prequels or just make unrelated sequels.

I think getting rid of Will for story reasons would be a bad financial move. However, if the next film makes even more money than DMC, whether Bloom wishes to make more POTC films or not, I would imagine production for a 4th film would still continue. Out of the three leads I can see him wishing to leave, more to than Depp and Knightly. But we'll just have to wait and see.

^me too...unless they want to continue the pirate saga with the same feel and new characters. they're just going to kill these characters if they do much else to them...

Yeah. if they make a fourth one I don't want prequels or unrelated sequels like potr was sayin'.

I also agree that three will probably be a nice number to finish with, although for me personally, with a character like Jack Sparrow, I would be tepmted to say "make a 4th!" as I would love to see more of his antics. Let's face it, he could be sitting in an empty room, on his own and be entertaining.
