Alot of people seem to think Archuleta will win. I honestly wouldn't doubt it, but David Cook DESERVES to win. He has an amazing voice and I would definitely buy his CDs. I love rock music, and that is exactly the music genre he should stick with.

Archuleta is going to win, I really have no doubt in my mind.

I love Cook about a gazillion times more, but I think Archuleta has not only screaming teenagers, but the older crowd who thinks he's "as cute as a button."

But Cook...love him.

Oh my god! What happened? Oh, believe me, Cook was by far my favorite. I was obsessed with him. But I was positive that he wasn't going to win.

When I heard that he won, I just was like "WHAT?! What do you mean he won?!" Complete shock. And then, after it sunk in, I got up and did a victory dance.

I wasn't surprised. I mean, Archuleta has a good voice, hits the notes, etc, but he's kinda boring. My mom calls him a glorified karaoke singer.

I haven't really paid much attention to this season... and even though I suspected Cook would win, I don't think either of them is going to make a big mark on music.

OK, we recorded the finale on DVR, and NO LIE, it cut out about HALF a second after Ryan said who won!! LOL! If we would have been left guessing, I would have been MAD! But can anyone recount what happened once the annouced the winner? For example, how did each react, did they preform any more songs, ect?

And personally I was very mad about Cook winning. It seems that wherever I go online everyone's a Cook fan, but really, I don't see what everyone loves so much. First there is the group that thinks he's hot. OK, let's be original people. (Not saying that's any of you though!) And he's not even that good-looking. He has bad hair Then there is the group who is like "He has amazing vocals". Not compared to Archuleta! On most of his songs, Cook was actually very pitchy (Dare You to Move anyone? *dies* He butchered one of my favorite songs!!) - the only way he got away with it was his huge fanbase & extreme rocker style. And finally there are those who say he is very original. Well, actually, I find him almost a spitting image of Chris Daughty. Who, by the way, annoys me greatly, due to the 5 singles he has released that all sound the same.

Sure, many people like the rocker style and would enjoy Cook's music, but there are just as many people who would like Archuleta, including myself. I'm sure that he'll still get a record deal, and I'll buy his CD in a heartbeat. I think Archuleta has so much potential - he seriously could sing ANY genre and be amazing. I don't find him boring at all. I thought he was a MUCH better preformer last night on the finale than Cook (and singer, by far!). As for those people who think Archuleta is too young & innocent - that he won't be a real "star". Well, do you remember Carrie Underwood? She was SO shy & hometown girl. Bo Bice was hard-core rocker man. But Carrie won and look at how amazingly huge she is now. She's grown so much! Did you see her preformance tonight? And where is Bo? In the audience, and no one remembers him. So what I'm saying is, even if Archuleta is very young & innocent seeming now, I'm sure that as he starts getting into the business he'll become much more star-like, although personally I think he already is.

So now to any of you who have read this extremely long rant, thank you for listening, even if you don't agree I know I normally don't get so riled up about this, but I just had to let it out XD

Actually, more people thought Archuleta was going to win then Cook. I was so shocked when they declared him the winner. David Cook seems to be the style that is more favored by Today's music industry anyways. Most of the fans for Archuleta seem to be little fangirls(Not that you are one, Gil.). I've been reading around the official forum and most of the topics are about how people are crying over it and blah, blah, blah. There were a million Archuleta Fans even in the Cook forum last night telling all the Cook fans not to vote(Like it worked.). So everywhere I've looked, there have been more Archuleta fans then Cook.

His voice is ALOT different than Daughtry's IMO. And I really love his style. He made every song his own(Billie Jean for example). Archuleta seemed to pick the slow, safe songs I thought. And I think Archuleta would've ended up like Taylor Hicks after a year or so.

I'm sure Archuleta will get a record deal as well, and probably sell well for awhile. But overall I think David Cook deserved to win. He did so well on the show, made every song his own practically.

David Cook has had experience as well, I think Archuleta still needs to gain that.

Anyways, just my response to you Gil and it's perfectly fine you like Archuleta's singing and style better.

Anywho...Can't wait for David Cook to make a CD. I thought Chris Daughtry should've won Season 4. I love rock music, so yeah.

Yeah, I think that Cook and Daughtry are absolutely nothing alike. For people who don't listen to rock, I suppose I can see how they believe that, but let me tell you, they are absolutely nothing alike.

I absolutely adore rock, but I also love soft rock (which I suppose would be what Archuleta would be classified as).

I agree that Archuleta owned Cook last night on two out of the three songs (the first round should have gone to Cook, I think). I'd like to think that I am a tad bit more unbiased, because I've been a giant fan of both of them, I lean more towards Cook, but I actually downloaded more of Archuleta's songs.

And I completely expected that Archuleta had this in the bag, actually. When Cook was announced as the winner, I was completely, completely dumbstruck (of course, I also got up and did a dance afterwards). And I've also seen nothing but Archuleta fans, it seems. Everyone was calling for Archuleta to win (including myself), and it was pretty clear cut--Archuleta had more fans.

Apparently, Cook's fans voted more. A lot more. 12 million votes more. Holy moly.

And my DVR ended a split second after it too, but fortunately, I was watching it live as well. As soon as Cook's name was announced, Archuleta just smiled and walked off stage. Cook started crying, hardcore (and it didn't off feminine at all). I actually teared up at it, it was so cute.

Oh, and may I say that I am SO glad that Simon apologized for being an idiot last night? Because David Cook certainly didn't do as badly as Simon said he did (I was rather angry about it, actually), and then Simon apologized tonight, and I was like "that's right! You better apologize!" Good. Very good.

I don't see how anyone could consider David Cook a copy/rip off of Daughtry. The only similiarity is they are both Rock. David Cook was practically the only contestant this season to make his songs original and his own. One of the judges even said he was one of the most bold and original contestants the show has ever had. David Cook and Chris Daughtry have way different voices, and way different styles. They are both Rock, that is the only similairity I see. I think Daughtry is amazing myself, and I have his CD. He is definitely on my top bands list and David Cook will be on my top singers.

David Archuleta is more Pop/Soft Rock. Just not my type of music really.

Yeah, Cook winning by 12 Million votes was a shocker. I still find it amusing how all the Archuleta fans were trying to get the Cook fans to stop voting.

David Cook, Kelly Clarkson, and Carrie Underwood are my favorite Idol winners. Jordin Sparks is pretty good as well.

I think Simon intended to be mean to Cook last night, so it would make people want to vote for him more. You know, how alot of people disagree with Simon and vote the opposite of what he thinks. Because he said on a few shows that he wanted David Cook to win.

I am sooo happy that Cook won. Yes, Achuleta was a perfectly fine singer, don't get me wrong, but he was just... Ug! I don't know. He annoyed me from the beginning. His voice is constantly muffled, and you can barely hear him sometimes.

Anyway, off that rant, I am very, very, very pleased at this year's outcome. Cook definetly deserved to win, and I look forward to seeing his albums in the future.

OK, here I go

First of all, I guess we have just had different experiences with people and who they support. Because all day today at school, I only found ONE other Archuleta fan. So I'm betting the fanbases were about equal But the fact that Archuleta fans were telling Cook fans NOT to vote is really strange & rude. I personally would never do something like that, because I don't think Cook is TERRIBLE. He's good. I just don't think he deserved to win, based on Tuesday night's preformances as well as the recent weeks. I agreet that he was really amazing in the beginning and middle of the top 12 rounds. Billie Jean WAS awesome However, these past few weeks have seemed "anti-climactic" for me. He sang well, but I felt like he didn't go anywhere, especially on Tuesday night. For example, that U2 song that he sang was really good, but he should have built it up more to a huge finish, like Archuleta did for his songs. That's personally why I think Archuleta has been doing better - he built his songs to a climax, and not to mention he sang them amazingly. He really could sing a phone book in my opinion.

As for the Chris Daughtry comparison, I didn't mean in the way their music sounded. Because I can definitely tell that they have very different voices and "types" of music. However, what I'm saying is that they seem to have the same "image". The tough 20-something-rocker-dude that many girls think is hot. I really have no idea if what happened to Daughtry will happen to Cook (all his songs - at least the singles - sound musically the same), but that's the way it seems to me.

As for Archuleta losing fans after about a year, like Taylor Hicks, I think that is almost an insult to Archuleta to compare him to Hicks. Hicks was the worst Idol EVER. I really don't know how that happened, but he and Archuleta are so different I couldn't even describe it. Hicks....*gag*...but Archuleta is young, for one thing, so a lot of younger people like him. Not to mention, even if he does have a pop/soft rock sound, that is still just as successful as the more rocker sound of Cook. Musicians like Jon McLauglin and Colbie Caillat could be more closely compared to Archuleta (not in the sound of singing, but the style of music), while Cook could be compared (again, in the style of music) to Daughtry or Hinder, maybe?

Anyway, I think that is probably point-less to debate this any more, because I have a feeling you will stay Cook fans, and I will stay an Archuleta fan. Shall we agree to disagree?

Tar-Dis: Thanks for the recap of the end of the show I also heard today that once Cook won he sang another song, and that it was really good. Does anyone know where I can see/download the preformance? I am SO mad that I missed it! I would really love to see Cook cry, just because I think that is sweet. When he cried on Tuesday, I was like 'awww!'

[I am probably sounding very two-faced right now, like I can't make up my mind. Lol. But really, I don't hate Cook, I like him. I just like Archuleta a lot more ]

I didn't mean comparing Archuleta to Hicks to be an insult. But your right, he is young and will probably sell well. He might do good, he might not, isn't for me to say really. He seems like a nice guy and he can sing, he just really isn't my style of music. And him winning would have been like Taylor Hicks to me. Not that it would be that way for other people. But...Yeah. I really liked "Your The Voice" by him. That one was good.

I think David Cook could be more compared to Nickelback then Hinder. He did awesome on "Hero" by Chad Kroeger(The lead singer of Nickelback) last night. Archuleta did a good job on the song as well(If you didn't see the finale, they did the song together).

I think you can Download David Cook's performance on iTunes. I know they have the song he performed after he won on there(Just the song not the performance video) because I bought it earlier today. If you want to see the actual performance I would try Youtube or American Idol's main website.

Oh yeah, I agree that Nickelback would be a better comparance (is that a word? lol) than Hinder. My brain was just on a total blank when I was typing that XD I did think that the Davids sounded really good together on Hero. They should have sung more songs together, in my opinion.

Anyway, Cook's song is on iTunes? Well that's good I thought they were taking all the American Idol stuff down last night at midnight, so that's why I didn't check. And I will be sure to YouTube it right away Thanks!

Yeah, Cook's song is on iTunes. It is his very first single and not considered an American Idol exclusive I think so it should stay availible. It's Number #1 on the iTunes charts too.
