Has anyone else got an obsession wth The firefly series?
I have fell in love with firefly. I have only just finished watching the movie Serenity today, and It was amazing!! Definite twists and turns.
It fit in so well, story wise, into the series.
The only things that I found that didnt sit quite right were the filming style wasnt the same teqnique that they used in the series, and they added sounds in space.
The series idea is that there is no air in space, therefore no sound can be heard. But since it was made into a movie theres all these whooses and such.
Oh well......Still was one of the best movies I'd ever seen.

Oh you have no idea how much I LOVE this show.
I missed it on the Sci-Fi channel here when it was originally shown and seen maybe 2 of the episodes.
They did a whole repeat from the beginning just before the movie came out and I instantly fell in love.
I absolutely love Joss Whedon and his ability to write for ensemble casts. I loved Angel and Buffy and I love his run on Astonishing X-Men.
Firefly was so quirky and just so so funny. I bought the series for myself for Yule and I wached the whole thing in one night. Plus all the extras on each disc.
I love all the characters, but as you can tell from my Av/Sig combo. I'm in love with the man they call Jayne.
It also has some of the greatest lines in tv ever.
"Every planet has its own weird customs. About a year before we met, I spent six weeks on a moon where the principal form of recreation was juggling geese. My hand of god. Baby geese. Goslings. They were juggled."
"My god -- you're like a trained ape. Without the training."
Jayne: "My dear boy. I hope you are well and that you get this soon in your travels. Thank you for the credits you forwarded, they have helped as Matty is still sick with the Damplung. He waves hello, and so does your father. He is in good spirits and there was layoffs but the foreman said no one can weld like a Cobb so he has employment still. I made you the enclosed Ooh! Enclosed! The enclosed to keep you warm on your travels. Hope to hear from you soon, love, mother." How's it sit? Pretty cunning, don'tchya think? Wash: A man walks down the street in that hat, people know he's not afraid of anything. Jayne: Damn straight.
So many quotes I can use. But I'll stop there before this post looks like an essay.

I've never seen the tv show, but I saw the movie, and it was pretty good and original And the actors didn't look model-perfect after being in a fight, imagine that!

I've still not seen the movie yet.
(So no spoilers lol)
I'm buying it as soon as it's available here.
Joss Whedon = Genius
Fox are idiots for cancelling this awesome show.

I love Joss Whedon (big Buffy fan), but I've sadly never seen Firefly or Serenity. My sister is a huge fan of the show though

You must see it!! I highly reccoment seeign the series before the movie! That way It will make so much more sence to you and you'll understand the world so much more.
I love Wash, he's so awesome, but then I also love River, but then again who doesnt lol.
Its weird that prospecting westerns and sci-fi go together really well. This really is a great blending of genre's.

Whoohooo.
Some nice, kind and generous soul has posted the full movie up on YouTube. I know it's probably illegal, but I MUST see this movie.
I will buy it on dvd as well...just need to decide on which Region has the best features on it.

Alriiight. I just watched Serenity on YouTube. Pretty dodgy quality and the sound occasionally went out of synch.....but....
I LOVED IT!!
I will buy it on dvd, if anything for better quality and those yummy dvd extras.

I know on the aussie edition of the disc they have a tour through the serenity ship set, looks pretty cool, but I still think that the set they used in the series was totally awesome. On the series that had the complete interior of the ship. You could walk from the cargo bay all the way through to the (cockpit?) pilots area. It was the entire interior as you saw it on the screen. *drools* Imajine being able to have a walk through that set.
I think wash is prabable my fave character, I mean I love them all the bits but wash and river are my faves
Zoe: "Proximity alert. Must be coming up on something."
Wash: (alarmed) "Oh my god. What can it be? We're all doomed! Who's flying this thing!?" (deadpan) "Oh right, that would be me. Back to work."

Yeah Wash is so funny.
He has some awesome lines.
"OhGodOhGod We're all going to die?"
I love the part where he's playing with his toy dinosaurs.
"we shall call this...This Land"
I gotta love Jayne though. He has some of the best lines in any tv show ever. He's nice eye candy too lol
"Explode? I don't wanna explode"
Fave episodes? I know they're all excellent...but any particular faves?
Mines are Jaynestown, Shindig, Our Mrs Reynolds and Out of Gas.

I LOVE Firefly/Serenity! My brother was given the entire Firefly series on DVD for Christmas, and we spent the next two weeks watching them all. It was INCREDIBLE. I love Joss Whedon. He is amazing.
Serenity was incredible too...
So funny, so dramatic, so action-packed... they're both just amazing.
And here is an awesome parody on Serenity that you all should read.

You really should read the rest of the parodies, too. They're so amazingly funny.

I'm so pleased to see that there's so many Firefly/Serenity fans. I had been toying with making a thread about it for a while..but I didn't think so many people liked it as well.
This makes me happy.
Gonna check out those parodies later bloody rose. Oh..welcome to the forum.

... NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *cries* I thought I'd gotten rid of you guys... I'm just kidding, really, I have a crazy friend who has a never-ending obsession with Wash, and she's gotten me obsessed with Mal/Nathan Fillion. Buy you see, here's the thing, for me... I just don't get it... My friend has to explain in intrecate detail just what is going on because it's too much thinking for me to do while I'm trying to follow the already complex plot. That being said, I do find War Stories/the Mal+Wash torture episode, to be very well done because it was pretty easy to follow, good acting, good dialogue, great characterization (which is something I'm obsessed with), and lots of fun action. Hopefully you crazy Browncoats are happy with me now, but unless Frodolyn comes along, I highly doubt I'll be back here again, so bye!

I watched Serenity just last week, it was excellent and very thought provoking, the bit at Miranda nearly made me cry. River was a bit scary though.
